I have been going to Fabutan for years, on and off, in multiple different provinces. Unfortunately, my experience at this location left much to be desired. The owner's attitude was disappointing -- seemingly entitled and miserable. The entitlement and lack of friendliness detracted from what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable visit. Yesterday I called on my way in and scheduled a tan. When I arrived, the young lady wasn't able to find me in the system (later I found out this is because I had tanned years ago in another province). I let the lady know who was new to her job that it was absolutely OK and I am totally fine with returning the following day when the owner was in so she could give her a hand. She booked me in for 11AM the following day. She apologized numerous times and I repeatedly said no sweat I totally understand things happen, see you tomorrow with a smile on my face. I asked her to schedule me for the stand-up as I had no idea they had one at their location. So she did just that. Fast forward to today, I came 15 minutes early to avoid missing my scheduled tan as there seemed to be an issue with finding me in the system the day prior. When I arrived I introduced myself, the owner confirmed she found me and had me take a seat and wait for my time slot. I sat and waited as I was early (my fault), about 15 minutes goes by, now past my scheduled appointment time, when the owner tells me that my package does not include the stand up. To which I replied "No worries can you get me into a regular bed" her response was yes. I continue to wait, it is now 12 minutes past my scheduled appointment when she requests to see my lotion and eye wear. I showed her and immediately she says we don't allow that brand (it was JWOWW's brand). Let me also mention that I have never had an issue using this lotion and at THIS SAME location too! Nevertheless, I explained this to her and her reaction was seemingly getting more and more aggravated and irritated with me as if I totally inconvenienced her day, mood, and life. Although I was still very polite and understanding, I think she began to tell I was getting a little bit impatient and frustrated as this was my second time attempting to visit this location (time is money) and the service was seemingly getting worse with each visit. She gave me the option to tan with no lotion and to leave my lotion on the front counter while I went for a tan. I said I understand you have your own policies and procedures, but with all due respect this lotion is just as good if not better than what you have to offer.. This is when she stormed from behind her desk to the front lobby, swung the front door open, insinuating I had to leave the building immediately. I was shaking, nervous, anxious, scared, and embarrassed. How did this go from a customer just wanting to relax and tan for two days and unable to do so, to this vulgar aggressive behavior. As I read the reviews for this location, I can completely and entirely understand why now. I did not purchase my tanning package at this location. After reading the reviews, it's clear that this owner does not give anyone the time of day that did not purchase their package directly from one of her two locations (Windermere being the second). I left the establishment in tears, shocked and embarrassed. I then called the location off Whitemud (106 St) and was welcomed in with open arms. If you read to the end, save yourself the headache, and spend your money at any other location except her Windermere which I'd imagine is no different. I've been a regular client for 7 years and have never dealt with a more rude and unprofessional employee than I did at this location. I tried calling back to get a name of whom I was speaking with, only to have my calls ignored and not returned. This location is one of the best in edmonton by far hands down. I've been going to this location for two years but I've been a client of fabutan for over ten years. This location is so warm and welcoming they always remember your name and welcome you with a big smile and hey how are you how's your day going so far. Staff are very educated on all tanning lotions and any products also they know everything there is to know about there machinery and they give you all the best tips and tricks to fulfill all your tanning needs. This location is one of the cleanest I've seen so far always stocked with fresh towels and products needed. This location never rushes you out they let you take your time and they always make sure everything went smoothly afterwards and wish you a great day. I love this location, every time I walk in the staff at the front are very kind and trying to their best in accommodating everyone with what they are wanting. If there isn't anyone at the front, they are cleaning, the place is always clean and well kept. The beds are maintained and once a bulb or two are gone I have found it's only a couple days before they are replaced. I also love their red light beds, they make me feel so good! I've tried their spray tan out a couple times as well, it's not too bad! I get the lightest one as too stay natural looking, with one of their add ins for more red skin. Avoid this location. The woman behind the counter was extremely rude and condescending. She forced me to buy very over-priced tanning lotion because apparently the professional tanning lotion that I purchased from another lay-down tanning bed company would "eat through the polyethylene." I would NOT recommend this location to ANYONE! I signed up for what I was told was a 3 month unlimited tanning contract. I was told I had to give them my credit card number however I could come in and pay cash and my credit card would not be charged as I did not authorize them to. However, to my dismay my credit card was debited each month. After the 3 month mark, I kept being charged. I went in and asked them to cancel it for me as I was unhappy with the charges past the 3 months and it coming off my credit card. Months later I received an email from the owner Laurae Pady Shenher stating that I would be sent to collections. I replied by telling her to debit my card for what I owed. I figured I was all caught up as I never heard anything back. I wanted to tan again so I wanted to make sure I was cleared..I called and was told I owed $300 plus. I left a message for her with no call back. I sent Laurae another email and no response asking she contact me and left my phone number. No response. Multiple calls and left messages with her employees no call back. Now almost a year later I got sent to collections. I sent another email..finally a response. Stating she had no way of contacting me as she didn't have an email address or phone number!! Says she never received an email from me! They went through..trust me. I have proof. She then claims not to have my credit card number! So naturally if she has no number, email address or credit card info..how and why do I have my credit card statements showing they took out money from the first few months?? How can they say I signed a contract but claim not to have all my info that I filled out on that paper? How did she email me originally first to let me know I owed money?! I tried to give them money and have it all taken care of. Shane on her, she is a shitty owner and can not manage herself let alone employees. This lady takes no accountability for her lack of professionalism and inability to do her job. I could not expect her employees to do their job if their owner is such a poor example.
