I loved the clothing selection, but had a strange interaction with the owner that made me feel like I wasn't supposed to be there. Bought something anyway and loved what I ended up purchasing. It was a bit pricey for what I bought, but nicer than what I would've found on Amazon or elsewhere, and I'm all for supporting local business. Might be back again if I'm looking for something specific.

Long story: I walk into the store around 6:15/6:30 with my two teenage/young adult kids. On vacation and ready to spend. Store opens at 4. Cool store, lots of cool clothing. We are the only people in the store. My kid asks the man at the counter if there are any skirts with pockets. He (with an attitude), says "I'm eating", waves his hand toward parts of the stores to show where the skirts are. I have never been talked to like that and am ready to leave, but my one kid still wanted to look. So we stay. Man sees that one kid and I are done and interprets our faces correctly as ready to leave. He announces that "he's taking a break from eating" (btw his food was in a thermos that could have put the lid back on). He walks over and points to three section of various skirt lengths and goes to return to eat. I tell him that's not what my kid asked for. Kid and i go into other room. Man pulls out a few skirts with pockets. We return to main room where man says he pulled all the plus sized skirts with pockets. My kid is skinny (size M/L); I'm real world 3x. He continues to call the kid plus sized (kid also has an eating disorder history) and talk as fast as he can about what he pulled. Kid is trying to tell him that he's going too fast and to give them a minute. Man starts talking about how he's a size expert. Listen, we are from New Jersey. Nobody talks faster and railroads better than us, but this man couldn't stop and wouldn't listen until I stepped in and told him to give us a minute. The guy is like 3 feet from us and I'm trying to have a convo with my kid. We step into the other room and the man tells us the skirt is from a different room. I literally had to turn to him and tell him to back off bc we are trying to have a private conversation.

They appeared to have a decent selection of clothing in varying sizes with accessories at fair price points. Parking is a little more challenging at the new location so I would recommend that sellers or buyers visit during non-peak hours to avoid traffic and secure nearby parking. The check in process was similar to the other location, the one associate that I interacted with was informative and friendly but her colleague at the registers was a bit more standoffish when I entered the store and had minimal interaction with me. Like most Plato closets I feel as though the associates rushed through the bag (per records it was 7 minutes), though they did make an offer it was clear the bag was not entirely checked. They also made a lowball offer but I believe this was due to the store being overstocked in all clothing categories. I think overall it was wasn't a bad experience, but definitely room for improvement. I wish the owners luck with this new endeavor.

As a size S/M, I found plenty of options, but I did notice the selection was much smaller in plus sizes or anything above XL. I brought in three bags of clothes, and they accepted a mix of items--Adidas sneakers, Levi's jeans, Lululemon, and even some cheaper brands like Shein (??). However, they passed on most of my higher-end basics from Aritzia, Anthropologie, Free People, and even some designer pieces from Nordstrom. They only selected a few items overall, so I ended up taking back about 80-90% of what I brought which is annoying but expected. That said, I did walk away with $100 for what they did take, which was better than I expected after overhearing the workers say they were unable to accept any items from another customer. The process was quicker than quoted--about 2 hours instead of the 4 they estimated. They have a board of what they say they are looking to buy, but it's honestly unpredictable every time I go they take random items. The staff was okay, though the energy definitely felt like a group of distracted teenage girls who seem only slightly miserable when they have to talk to a customer.

Well, I've certainly been missing out because during my recent daytime mosey of this mob scene of a strip (complete with old timers taking a bus tour of Scialo Bros... oy vay!) I happend upon the treasure trove that is Diva's Palace. Clearly I've heard of it. Clearly I knew it was going to be good. But, THIS good? I had no idea. The boutique is quirky, beautiful, insane and fun - exactly what you want in a shopping experience, right? The electric blue and gold walls are lined with eccentric pieces like floaty leopard print skirts, adorable denim over-all dresses and even a few airy cotton tops. But the sweet spot? Their jewelry. Oh. My. Goodness. Truth be told, I went a little insane. I've been looking for a cool yet classy statement necklace to go with a somewhat demure dress, and I had no idea the mother load that was within Diva's Palace. Most of their pieces are made in-house and are totally exquisite and truly one-of-a-kind. I zeroed in on a three-stranded black pearl masterpiece that I thought I couldn't live without, until the darling and kind Jimmy pulled out an absolute show-stopper of a crystal necklace strung with salvaged Murano glass beads that were originally part of a chandelier. Sounds over-the-top, perhaps but I assure you, it's elegant and chic and very cool. After falling in love with that item, he brought me a geometric plate bib necklace that happened to go perfectly with the ensemble I wore that day. I was in love with both, and he knew it. What this man did next was so old school and so charming, it will keep me going back to Diva's palace again and again - he went into the back, where the owner, Michael, was making more of these treasures and they discussed the pricing options if I decided to purchase both. With a generous discount applied and heaps of style advice from Michael and Jimmy, I walked out of Diva's with a spring in my step, two gorgeous necklaces and a new favorite West Side shopping destination. Thank you, boys. Bravo!

Yayyyyyy I finally made it over to Existential Thread to pick up my "Providence is for Lovers"…read moreshirt that I ordered ages ago - shout out to Desire, Cadillac, Fantasies, Wonderland, & Foxy. Of course had to shop around while I was there. I immediately spotted a swanky Italian leather jacket, smoother than butter, for only $60. I don't NEED another leather jacket, so I moved on. Then I found a soft, short gingham dress for only $20. The owner? told me I could try it on - so try it on I did & take it off I never did. I liked it so much, I just paid for it & walked out still wearing it. I'm a big fan! I also scooped up a rad red/clear belt & had a great chat with the owner while I was perusing. The owner told me that they'll be hosting more flea market style events outside this summer. I will most certainly be there. The owner also said that they get big hauls of new clothes basically weekly, so there's always something new to be found. I love to see lil businesses pop up in the residential areas of the West End like this. It brings even more life to this lively neighborhood. Big fan. Anyways, thanks again for the supplies to help cope with the burden of my awareness. I'll definitely be back.
