It's not often that I find myself on Federal Hill with time to spare, and it's even less often that I find myself on Federal Hill with time to spare during the day. Well, I've certainly been missing out because during my recent daytime mosey of this mob scene of a strip (complete with old timers taking a bus tour of Scialo Bros... oy vay!) I happend upon the treasure trove that is Diva's Palace. Clearly I've heard of it. Clearly I knew it was going to be good. But, THIS good? I had no idea. The boutique is quirky, beautiful, insane and fun - exactly what you want in a shopping experience, right? The electric blue and gold walls are lined with eccentric pieces like floaty leopard print skirts, adorable denim over-all dresses and even a few airy cotton tops. But the sweet spot? Their jewelry. Oh. My. Goodness. Truth be told, I went a little insane. I've been looking for a cool yet classy statement necklace to go with a somewhat demure dress, and I had no idea the mother load that was within Diva's Palace. Most of their pieces are made in-house and are totally exquisite and truly one-of-a-kind. I zeroed in on a three-stranded black pearl masterpiece that I thought I couldn't live without, until the darling and kind Jimmy pulled out an absolute show-stopper of a crystal necklace strung with salvaged Murano glass beads that were originally part of a chandelier. Sounds over-the-top, perhaps but I assure you, it's elegant and chic and very cool. After falling in love with that item, he brought me a geometric plate bib necklace that happened to go perfectly with the ensemble I wore that day. I was in love with both, and he knew it. What this man did next was so old school and so charming, it will keep me going back to Diva's palace again and again - he went into the back, where the owner, Michael, was making more of these treasures and they discussed the pricing options if I decided to purchase both. With a generous discount applied and heaps of style advice from Michael and Jimmy, I walked out of Diva's with a spring in my step, two gorgeous necklaces and a new favorite West Side shopping destination. Ready to wear for the fashionista! I ventured inside here with Mr. T as curiousity hit me as I was peeking in through their storefront. This place is beautiful as I look through the racks of clothing. Very much looking like a palace. Michael, who is the designer for fashions of the Diva's Palace was very charming and sweet. He showed me a high end designed vest designed in a roses fabric and a leopard print sweater. I looked in the mirror and admitted that I love both pieces but didn't want to spend so much so I said I would get one. So he offered a discount on one item and I was sold. This shopoholic loves a discount. My wonderful hubby bought them for me! I love Diva's Palace and when I am in town I will want to go back to dress the Diva in me. read more

This place is incredible. I've gone here over the years for special occasion dresses and it always turns into an event. Their clothing is GORGEOUS, beautiful materials, styles, colors, and once you put something on and think you're looking pretty hot, they'll pin it in a few extra spots, accessorize you, and then you look amazing. I went most recently with my mother, who was looking for a dress to wear to my wedding. It was a very hard decision because they all looked great on her...a bright, abstract pattern in a 30's silhouette, a gold lamé flapper-esque dress, and a full-skirted strapless number made from Alexander McQueen remnants. She finally decided but went back and bought one of the others anyway! Service is attentive...they really make you look fabulous. And if you think you're just going to try something on quick, probably not. They always want to see how you look, adjust it to your figure, suggest other items that you also might like, and add a few accessories so you have the entire picture. They. Are. Awesome. First time we walked by, they were on break so we went back a little later and thank goodness they were back too! I think of this place as the store that holds all of the awesome hidden items I would find in other stores...all in one place. If I could have a shopping spree here I would do it in a heartbeat. I fell in love. The clothes are pricey, yes, but the jewelry was much more reasonable than I expected. I ended up walking out WEARING them. Completely gorgeous and great quality..and bang for my buck. Not sure what his name was, but it was not the designer. I had a great experience at Diva's palace. I have frequented this store over the years and have always been welcomed and taken care of. I am very picky about dresses and the owner Michael was determined to find me the perfect outfit and matching accessories through my preferences, body shape, and personality. He also designs some of the clothing and the dress I purchased is one of his creations, so I will remember this experience every time I where this special dress. Viva Diva's Place! At first glance Diva's looks out of place. Surrounded by restaurants and bakeries the iron gates stand out and the window invites fashionistas. I love stopping by to see what's new. Items are really unique, especially the fur coats. My eyes usually wander towards the jewelry in the center display. I purchased a coat for my mother and the owner mailed it to her in California. The owner also creates all of the art on the walls, and they are for sale! So far so good in my book! read more

I still have and wear pieces I purchased 12+ years ago, which speaks both to the timeless styles and incredible quality of every piece. Owner/designer Michael Turner is an absolute genius. He puts so much care and thought into everything he creates, never cutting corners. He is the consummate professional and will do everything he can to make his customers happy. Dresses are the main event - especially for evening - but the blouses, skirts, jackets, jewelry and accessories by no means take a back seat. But more than the clothes, the best part about Diva's Palace is its owner and clothing designer, Michael. Personalized attention is an understatement. I walked into Diva's Palace recently looking for an interesting and non-white dress to wear to my wedding. Michael spent more than an hour with me as I tried on various pieces. When I came back the next day with some reservations, he was ready with some idea alteration ideas that really made my vision come to life. What followed was several months of exchange where we worked on what would ultimately become my wedding dress. Was such a treat to work with a real person - and such a talented one at that - and to be made to feel so special and beautiful! A friend and I were passing by after hours, and the owner and designer, Michael, was gracious enough to let us come in and look around. After a long day at work and the gym I decided to take a stroll down Atwells with one of my friends. It was our first time in the shop and we were very excited. As we walked through the store he looked us up and down and didn't even greet us. Sorry we were in our gym clothes..not worthy enough for him. He is a awful owner. No wonder the place was empty. I found a very nice blazer that I wanted to try. He came up to me and told me " You can only try this on if you are going to buy this." I would not recommend this place to anyone.
