I have wanted to make a quilt for a long time. My first attempts were done by watching YouTube…read morevideos, but I was not quite getting the hang of things. I gave up in frustration. This year I found sewing classes at A Needle and Thread in Old Town Spring. Working with Erica and Lee Ann has been a pleasure and I am lucky to be able to count on their expertise. We worked on preparing, cutting and, squaring the fabric, sewing a consistent quarter inch seam, piecing the blocks, quilt top, and backing. This is my first finished quilt top. I was also able to find a coordinating fabric for the backing of the quilt right there in the store. Coming up will be lessons on the long arm sewing machine to quilt a design and then wrap things up by doing the binding. I am looking forward to the finished product and onto the next quilt.

They are mostly organized by designer and collection with clear pricing on the shelves. Same with their precut selection since not all fat quarters are priced the same. They also sell and service a variety of machines and the staff was very knowledgeable and pleasant. The store is quite large and felt like there was more to see around every corner. Their size is good since they recently purchased another local shop and will need the space for everything that came with it. All in all, decent prices and good selection of high quality fabrics, machines and notions.
