Now what good hair is, will be a subjective point of view, but for me it is manageable and generally shiny and healthy looking as a result of a great cut. I first reviewed Angel Hairdressing about 3 months ago on my first visit. It's a local salon and after standing by it waiting for the bus for 2 years, I decided to give it a go when my budget couldn't stretch to a posh town salon do. So now, it is review No.200 and it had to be a 5 * review. Even though I my last hair cut was 3 months ago - I hadn't actually reached hair crisis point. My style had held perfectly even when growing and it was only as it really started to thicken up again (and growing very quickly) that I decided to cut it back again. It is probably the first hair cut that I've had where I've left a salon, the do has lasted a good few days before I had to wash and dry myself and it has been something I have been able to recreate myself, abet in Claire form, and not hairdresser form. Again - same fab cut. It is a small salon with one sink and 4 chairs. There are two stylists - Lisa who I think is the owner and Kerry who cuts my hair and who I think is fab. Same wet and dry cut as before - still in about 50 minutes even though my shape from last time had still held well, so again, great attention to detail to ensure my hair is perfect. Fab friendly and cheery service and great prices - still £28 for a cut and blow dry and I think it is under £15 for a wash and blow dry. It is not a tea/coffee and a biccy type place but to be honest, I never got the chance to have that any time before as when the cutting starts, that lean forward to get the cuppa could result in hair catastrophe and I'm not stupid enough to risk that. Busy weekend ahead with work and catching up with friends and I'm enjoying my glossy, well cut hair. Secondly of course would be the lovely staff. I've been served by the same hairdresser both my trips, and she remembered me the second go round, which makes for a pleasant welcome. Size-wise, It's a small joint, but more than enough room for the ladies to perform their miracles, and it feels reasonably homey inside. What seals the deal for me is the prices are totally reasonable--I've seen some places that make my eyes practically roll back in my head around town, and I've never been one to willingly shell out a week's paycheck for my hair. But Angel has fair prices to match the excellent service. My first go featured a simple cut, the second, a full coloring, and I'd give five stars to each venture. This is definitely my go-to salon! Extra perk: I was offered a cup of coffee or tea while waiting for my color to set. Don't mind if I do!

She said 'I cant train your hands', which makes sense as I am used to moving through my hair in a certain way for ages now. I booked an appointment with Katy and DEAR GOD it PAINS me that I live an ocean away because otherwise I would be obsessed for life. I had no idea what I wanted beyond knowing that I didn't like what I had. Katy knew exactly what to do based on a few shoddily strung together adjectives - she gave me the most lovely colour job of my life, and the cut is perfect. Nearly six weeks later, it's still looking pretty great because she was so meticulous and seemed to know precisely what my hair needed and how it would fall. Worth the price all the way. Popped back in later that day for a shellac manicure which was also very well done, and I left absolutely pleased. Go let the ladies at Medusa work their magic on your hair. Seriously, go now!

(The innocents taste better). Jenni has moved to Danielle Carr recently and although the salon is definitely smaller than Medusa, the atmosphere is also a lot more ... amiable. I found Medusa a little forced at times with the techno music and the general loudness, but this is more a place to relax, though I'm afraid when I came here the general loudness level of the salon was upped a little. The people here are friendly and clearly work well together in a team, and as for Jenni? Magic, pure magic, as per usual. The great thing about a truly great hairdresser is that you never have to tell her exactly what you want, you just flop your hands about a bit, say some general words in a certain direction and she takes over and just knows. Now, you might say, that's because you've been going to her for two years now. Yes, that's part of it, and you should be too, but most of it is her intuition. Jenni is good at consultation and damned if she isn't even better at colouring and cutting. I've seen her transform a mess of a Hungarian fro (we won't name names) into an ice-cool hair do in under twenty minutes. Whot. WHOT. Yes, truly. I didn't think it was possible but that cut is so fresh that the man in question now has a whole new attitude to match it. My hair, you ask? Fabulous, as always. Golden and glowing down my back in undulating waves and healthy to boot. Hairdressers, truly great ones, are really rare, and most of them get a little scissor happy when they think they can get away with it. Not Jenni, or if she does get scissor happy, you won't notice, 'cause it will simply look exactly as it ought to. The total came to around £20 - that's not too bad for a hair chop these days. The bloke that cut my hair was good fun and full of banter. The assistant was also pleasant. For once, conversation wasn't a struggle! Second visit was to the beautician who rents a room in the back of the salon. Cannot recommend her highly enough. I went for various waxing efforts and she was really friendly and good fun to chat to. The prices were excellent - I had a half leg wax, bikini wax and a free eyebrow shape for the paltry sum of £20. I will definitely be back. One tip is that she's cash only (unlike the hairdressers) so make a visit to the cashline before an appointment!
