I've been a member of Hotworx for about a year now and I really enjoy it! Pre-pandemic, I was in…read morethe gym multiple times a week, but my routine took a severe hit with the pandemic. Even after the gyms opened back up, the big mega gyms still made me a little uncomfy. I kept seeing ads for Hotworx and figured I give it a try. I'd done and rather enjoyed hot yoga, so I was intrigued by workouts that were all done in a sauna. I called and arranged a tour with the gym manager and was sold. It was small, had individual rooms, was open 24 hours, and the workouts were total body. Sign me up! Membership is a little more than $60/month, but you can take as many classes as you want at any time that you want. The start up cost is a little bit more as you have to purchase their special mat and towel due to the sauna temperatures. The classes are virtual, so you just follow along with a video instructor, but they're easy to keep up with while still providing a challenging workout. I also love that in addition to the sauna workouts there's a selection of free weights, ropes, and a few other pieces of equipment. On days were I just don't have it in me to do a class, I can do a quick circuit. I've never had any issues, can always find a class at the time I need, and the staff are friendly and helpful whenever I've had any questions. So glad I decided to try something new and join!

I needed a workout with less people. This place is the one to go to! I always loved the idea of a sauna. This gym allows you to work out in sauna in less time to burn more calories. I signed up about a month ago and waited to write review due to be hesitant about this place! I do not regret it at all! I love it here and have already seen results while following a healthy diet I lost 9 pounds in one month and more toned body! I got two of my family members to sign up of how great this gym. You in a room by yourself workout at your own pace following a guide on the screen. You can always try it free before signing up. I

I showed up at 5 am and that's when it all began. I had my bodyscan performed which quickly gave us the results that we needed to get to work. Quickly, Lyle & Haley got back to me setting me up on fitbot with my macros necessary to reach my goals. It is worth noting that all of this has been done remotely. I am presently living in Boston, although I am from New Orleans. Despite the distance, this has worked wonderfully with my coach Haley being responsive and insightful into how to make adjustments to my diet & exercise habits. It really was quite easy, hit the numbers, and the weight falls off. May-August I lost 20lb. Dropping from roughly 190 to about 168/170. My strength has remained the same & working capacity has increased. Now at this phase, Haley is running the numbers for what we need to do a bulk. I would absolutely recommend the gym and their coaching services, and will continue to use them in the near future. I will continue to update this review going forward.

I went to check out (I did the Big Easy on ramp and have also checked out Crossfit NOLA)…read more This one was recommended by a friend who goes every morning with her husband at 5am, she loves it. it sounds like they do most of their classes outdoor on the turf but they also have an indoor area to workout as well and do classes with a separate area for rowing. They have a very advanced online/phone app that allows you to keep track of your workout, sign up for classes, see what the workout of the day is. Best of the 3 cross fits in the city. They don't require an on-ramp which is good and bad. On ramp is kind of boring and anti-climactic but some could argue necessary. I did on ramp at big easy because it was cheaper than cross fit nola and I wasn't sure if I was going to stick with it. I learned a lot about cross fit, positioning, moves, etc but wish it was just 2 or 3 classes instead. I also realized that maybe cross fit wasn't for me. The owner of this gym is very informative and helpful and obviously seems to care about the people who join (and don't join). I would recommend this place to anyone. For the first 100 people it's only $99 a month for unlimited classes. Unlike the other places, it's 45 minutes per class vs 1 hour, which isn't necessarily a bad thing and again you get unlimited classes. they have also started an endurance class mondays and wenesdays (thinking long distance running and rowing). not sure cross fit is for me (not really into the whole weightlifting tons of weight thing) but if i do decide to do it in the future will probably join here. he also has an option of 10 classes for $80. also a phenomenal deal considering other cross fits are about 20 per class.

Here at Supra the Coaches are great and encouraging, however behind the scenes the owner cuts expenses and fails to provide needed equipment at the request of his members. He also didn't include the CrossFit open into the schedule despite interest from members. Fortunately the Coaches came through and made it happen for their people. The normal warmth of the community that includes the interaction between management and members, after hours functions like BBQ's is sadly missing from this box. There are any number of better CrossFit gyms in the area like CrossFit Big Easy, CrossFit NOLA or CrossFit Crescent City Gretna.

I think I've earned the right to give the first review for Cypress Fitness, as I have left quite a…read morebit of sweat there over the past four and a half months since they've opened. I had been doing kickboxing training with Brian for over a year at another gym when he told me that he and a business partner, Brandon, were opening their own gym on Tchoup. So I followed him there and have been taking TRX, Kettlebell, and various other cardio and circuit training classes pretty regularly. TRX is something that everyone in NOLA who likes to eat, but does not like being fat, should get into. It is effective for everyone from frail grannies to muscled-up ex-navy seals (who developed the system). Drew Brees endorses it (and uses it), so that alone should convince you to try it. Kettlebell training with Brandon will make you strong. Not stare-at-your-arms-in-the-mirror-while-you-do-curls strong, but real functional strength. No machines, just your body moving itself and an object in dynamic, natural movements with your core and stabilizing muscles working the whole time. I was trying to think of an adequate metaphor/simile to describe the results I've experienced from my training at Cypress, and the best I could come up with was "These abs! I look like a white D'Angelo circa 'Untitled (How does it feel).'" Is that too obscure an early '00s R&B video reference? Maybe. Suffice it to say that the trainers at Cypress Fitness will motivate you to get in great shape, in a completely judgment-free, supportive, accessible and fun environment. This is not a chain-franchise-Anytime-Riviera gym -- it is a gym run by people who care about your health, designed for people who want to achieve their better selves.
