We hired Maranatha stairs based on a recommendation to rebuild our stairs, which had become a literal hazard. We initially went with someone who said they knew how to build stairs, but ended up with stairs that each one was a different height and was not very secure. It was also done very sloppy with one of the treads not even long enough to cover the hole.. It took us a while to get Maranatha Stairs to come in, partially our fault and partially because they were so busy. We have owned our home in Brooklyn, for 20 years now and have had numerous renovation projects done. We have always had some sort of complaint or negative feedback, regardless of how small. Well, I don't think I can say always any longer. Maranatha came in and measured, showed me photos of some of their work, set my expectations of what they do and don't do, and what I may need to have repaired afterwards.. i.e. the wall that the stairs was connected to or the ceiling below the stairs.. they simply only do woodwork and rails.. not sheetrock or even not staining. They were very accommodating to ensure that the work was finished just right, that everything looked like it was finished professionally and with high quality workmanship. They also traveled daily all the way from their location to my home in Brooklyn for the length of the job. It took about 3 days for total project and exceeded our expectations. They did not damage the wall or the ceiling below.. they were careful enough to not need any repairs to anything else.. For stairs.. they are in a class of their own!

Insisting I pay more money just because the materials needed for the promised work was miscalculated is against NJ law as well.

The fence gate required a locking latch to meet pool standard in my community. The gate latch is poor quality, --the latch will not open, or it sticks closed (requires oiling monthly, as well as constant adjustment to the latch). Discussed this with Dan on several occasions by phone or text (since installation in 1/2025). He inspected the latch during a visit and said it would be replaced. In addition, the installers cut the sprinkler system line in two places (the cuts in the line are obvious). Dan was told about the existence of the sprinkler system at time of purchase (installation team reminded as well). Two attached photos show cut in line adjacent to concrete (by shovel?), as well as cut in line where line sits atop of corner of concrete (zoom in on the photo). When I brought the gate latch to Dan's attention by text and voicemail (again earlier this week), he said no one told him the gate latch wasn't replaced. He said someone would drop by and repair/replace the gate latch, and he would repair the sprinkler line. I'm not sure why he expected me to remind him again about the gate latch (how many conversations does it take to get it done?). I declined to have him fix the sprinkler line as I already did the job myself (hopefully it doesn't continue to leak), and I didn't want to get into another back and forth with him about completing the work (as I experienced since 1/2025 about the gate latch).

Russ knows concrete. But I feel he works his team and jobs to fast. I say this because of their…read moreattention to detail could be better. The tooling and finishing was fair. Not to mention his worker stepped in My concrete and left workboot imprints in my surface! Russ tried fix but it had dried too much. This imperfection is noticeable. My patio is "crazing" because it dried to fast for the conditions, (should of covered for the dry spring air) and did not cut enough expansion joints, and now is cracking. Lastly his worker lost hardware for pool ladder anchors and he would not replace them. Double check his calculation s and over see the whole job and question everything. Yes he's cheaper than most and this is why. I'll review again in a year.

When I spoke with Russ, he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and helped me narrow down something that I would love. we went thorough the entire area together and decided on space/size etc. When he came back, I was in awe. He had about a 10 man crew, and it the first 1 minute upon arrival each man had a job and he was moving, they were thorough, clean and quick. There was discoloration b/c the second truck was a little lighter, he came back twice to make sure it was perfect. I get compliments from everyone who sees it.
