I recently had a very disappointing experience with the repair merchant, and I want to share it so…read moreothers can make informed decisions before doing business with them.
I initially contacted this merchant to repair several of my devices, including my Steam Deck, my PSP, and my Gamecube. While they were able to get my Steam Deck screen replaced, and Gamecube fixed, the overall experience and the condition of my other gaming devices raised serious concerns.
For my PSP, I originally only wanted the screen replaced because I believed it was scratched and clearly communicated that with the merchant. After getting the device back, I later realized that the scratch was actually on the protective shelf/cover and not the screen itself. This was never communicated to me by the merchant, which they could have easily discovered and communicated to me while doing diagnostics on the device. Even worse, the PSP was returned to me faulty. The buttons are now unresponsive to the software and the system does not properly read the physical game discs, making the device difficult to use. This issue did not exist before I brought the console in for repair. I have more issues now with the device than when I gave it to the merchant.
When the merchant handed the PSP back to me, I noticed during my inspection (which was 5 mins) that it was already showing issues. I even remember the merchant mentioning that they had trouble with it when they gave it to me. Despite this, they now claim that the device was returned in perfect working condition and have video evidence of it.
Regarding the Steam Deck, although it powers on and functions, I noticed after receiving it back and getting back home that one of the buttons feels noticeably looser than before and the haptics on the left side feel noticeably off from how they did when I originally handed over the device. When I brought this up, the merchant insisted they had nothing to do with it and claimed they did not touch any parts that could have affected that side of the device. However, the difference is very noticeable compared to how it felt before the repair.
Another major issue is that one of the Steam Deck accessories I provided with the console was misplaced and never returned to me. The merchant stated that they conducted multiple searches for the accessory but were unable to locate it. They also repeatedly claimed that they are very organized, yet they were still unable to account for an accessory that was important for my console.
I clearly remember coming home, opening the case for my Steam Deck, and noticing that the accessory was missing. When I brought this concern to the merchant, I was told that I "should have brought it up during inspection." While I understand that I should have checked more carefully it simply did not cross my mind in that moment that the item would be missing. Its already expected for the merchant to show and return all items from the client.
What makes this situation even more concerning is that there is video evidence showing the merchant removing the accessory from the case during their repair videos--videos that were recorded and posted without my consent. The merchant claims that the videos only show the repair process and not the repackaging of the device. However, this raises an obvious question: if the cloth/accessory was removed from the case during the repair, why was it removed in the first place if it was not part of the repair process?
When I tried to ask about the missing accessory and the other issues, the merchant became impatient and dismissive instead of trying to resolve the situation professionally. Rather than addressing the concerns, they decided to block me.
This merchant uploaded videos of my devices online to promote their business without my consent. They were comfortable using my devices for advertising, yet abruptly terminated business with me when I asked about my missing accessory and the issues I was experiencing with my PSP, even though I was told by the merchant themselves that I rightfully have a warranty to get it fixed.
The merchant continues to say that they have video evidence showing the devices working perfectly. However, I also have video evidence showing the devices not functioning properly shortly after I received them, which I can provide.
I even attempted to contact them from another phone and tried to message them via text in an effort to calmly resolve the situation since they blocked me and left me on read, but they responded by saying that if I continued calling they would report me to the authorities for criminal harassment.
Overall, this experience felt very unprofessional and frustrating. Wasted hundreds of dollars only to have more issues after receiving my devices. Please be careful and do your research before deciding to do business with this merchant.
**EDIT** The merchant claims that the PSP was dead when I gave it to him, but it was not dead, the battery was.
