I am writing this review with a heavy heart. I genuinely did not intend to tarnish this business,…read moreand I expressed to "Ms. Julie" over the phone that I had no desire to do so. However, something about our final interaction didn't sit right with me. While she is clearly gifted with children and I initially had high hopes, the lack of professional boundaries and the lapse in safety became impossible to ignore. The Experience vs. The Environment First Impressions: During the FaceTime tour, Ms. Julie was amazing with my son; her ability to engage kids is undeniable. Even though she wore a "Trump Won" shirt--which was alarming--I dismissed it because my son was happy. I felt that if she could get him to swim, I would be happy. Hygiene Issues: While she provides an indoor observation area, it had a strong, unpleasant odor. The bathroom was the breaking point--the inside of the toilet was visibly black and unhygienic. Despite signs asking parents to use Lysol wipes, basic maintenance was missing. False Advertising: I was hesitant about a 6:30 PM session due to the temperature and the sun going down. I was explicitly told by the answering service that there were indoor and outdoor pool options. This was a flat-out lie. On Day 2 at 5:00 PM, the water was cold, my son and I were shivering, yet my concerns were dismissed by her simply showing me on her phone the temperature was 89 degrees. I do not know if salt water pools are different, but it was not warm. Professionalism & Safety Concerns The most alarming part of this experience was the total lack of focus on my child: Day 1 Conflict & Venting: After the first lesson, I overheard Ms. Julie arguing with her teenage son. She then proceeded to vent to me about it. Which was okay, but later I realized it set a tone that her personal life was the priority over the business interaction. Safety Negligence (Day 2): I got into the pool to help. Instead of focusing on my son, Ms. Julie spent the lesson venting about her personal drama with her teenage son again. She became so distracted by her own talking that she failed to ensure my son's head stayed out of the water while assisting him to float. A swimming lesson is for the child's safety, not a therapy session for the instructor. Inappropriate Comments: She told me her son "wanted to live with me" because he wants to live in a place with "no rules or boundaries." She later tried to clean it up by saying she told him that didn't exist anywhere, but it was a bizarre, uncomfortable comment to make to a client. Religious & Political Overtones Unsolicited Religious Practice: After venting about her son, she insisted on praying with me. I "uncomfortably obliged" the first time. However, on Day 2, when I explicitly said "No, I don't pray," she responded with "Well, can I pray?" and did it anyway. It felt dismissive of my own boundaries. Political Branding: Wearing "Trump Won," "Trump 2024," and "I Stand with Charlie Kirk" apparel/jewelry in a professional youth business created an environment that felt more like a statement than a service. Final Assessment I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and even spoke with Cedricka, who was great and tried to mitigate the situation. I initially decided to cancel, but after a thoughtful and apologetic email from Ms. Julie, I was actually inclined to finish the last 3 days based on that message, despite my husband's reservations. However, when we finally spoke on the phone, her tone was flat and dry. It didn't match the warmth or sincerity of her email at all. Although she apologized, the tone was not the same. That disconnect made me realize the email was likely a formality to avoid a bad review rather than a genuine realization of her behavior. The Bottom Line: Ms. Julie is a gifted teacher. If you are looking for a skilled swimmer who is great with kids, she has the talent. However, if you value professional boundaries, a clean environment, and an instructor whose focus remains 100% on your child's safety rather than her personal life, I cannot recommend this program. A swimming lesson should be for the child's development, not a therapy session for the instructor.

I am a woman in my 40's and due to a very traumatic experience in my childhood (I'm talking mouth…read moreto mouth resuscitation here) I have never learned to swim. For the longest time I couldn't get my ears wet because I'd freak out. Having said that, I moved into a house with a pool and little by little I have been losing my fear of the water. I know I will never go in the ocean, but the pool now I can do. David's swim school is very close to my home and I always saw it, or their signs, and I would think to myself. "I should sign up and take lessons" I always rationalize that I would do it eventually, or the following year. And then Covid hit. Now over a year later I decided that enough was enough. I called and made an appointment to start swimming lessons. I am able to float and to swim under water by myself but I was absolutely nervous the very first time I went in. I signed up for 8 group classes, but because of my schedule and the pandemic, I have been the only adult taking the class every time except for one class. Everyone is very nice and both the instructors I've had have been very patient and understanding. They have taught me invaluable techniques to be able to swim. Am I an expert swimmer? No, but with the technics I have been taught I feel so much more confident in the water. It takes practice. I will most definitely take more lessons once my schedule opens up again. I know so much more now than 7 lessons ago. Facilities are clean and they have proper equipment, pool is heated and indoors. They have cameras with tv's outside so parents can see their children while they swim. Everything is more geared towards children, but they have lots of different programs for adults as well. Such as training, military and so on. I am glad I decided to take the leap. I would certainly recommend David's Swimming School to anyone.

At other locations you have to bring a lock. The only downfall is that the machines are not put in order. They are scattered all over the place and this location is double the size of others. The staff is approachable and willing to assist with questions and setting up any services in the black card area such as hydro massage or tanning bed. I've always found parking fairly close. There are plenty of treadmills, stair masters and elliptical machines. Usually there's no wait and if there is a wait for a machine, people are usually thoughtful and it becomes available quickly.

The machines were kind of scattered for working out as far as arms, legs and abs. The only machine that was different from my gym I go to was the ab twister. I went to help my friend to show her how to use the machines that would benefit her and some she didn't know how to use. The area with free weights and pullups didn't have enough clips everyone kept looking for the same ones . It was hot in the gym not sure why and I am not one who likes a cold gym but this was like a warehouse. The locker room area seemed clean but the bathrooms were not up to par. A real turn off was the black toilets . I don't know who came up with that but yuck. You can't even tell if the water is clean or soiled. There are no paperyorlwss at all , not even in the handicap bathroom. I know the hand dryers save the earth but honestly, I prefer to dry my hands. I asked if a guest is able to also user the extra rooms in the back but was told no. Other gyms allow usage of back areas. If it was busy and others waiting i could maybe understand but only one person was in a room with tanning bed that is not what I wanted to use. I wanted to use the water massage bed . I asked if we could at least go in and look since my friend never went back there to show her what I am privy to from another location . We found one strange they only had a couch with a TV . There are a lot of cardiomachines empty. The more popular machines were of course busy, and we needed to wait. Even though the gym I belong to doesn't have the one machine I like , I wouldn't join this gym especially this location. The only thing I find that I would enjoy would be the massage water bed. The other massage chairs they have at the malls.
