I was a little nervous about this place after seeing the low star review, but I had an excellent experience with my smog check. The technician was a little hard to locate at first, as he was not in the office, but once I found him and said hello, he helped me right away. He asked a few questions about my engine, gave me some paperwork, gave me an estimate and started the smog check. The whole process from beginning to end was probably about 10-15 minutes. I made the mistake of not really comparing prices before going and soon realized I had no idea how much smog checks usually cost. He said it was $70 total with the certificate, but then gave me $10 off. It was super easy, close to my house and I have no complaints. read more

Not very friendly and one of the few places that charges for a recheck in cases where the vehicle doesn't pass the first time. In my case, it seems when I got work done this last week the mechanic disconnected the battery so the vehicle's computer couldn't complete the emissions self-checks. It's happened before and passes after driving a couple hundred miles to reset it. Nothing EZ Smog can do about that. My fault for not checking if the mechanic had disconnected the battery when doing work last week. The 1 star is for the lack of friendliness and that the employee treated me like I was a nuisance for using a coupon the company itself supplied. I'd recommend going somewhere that gives you a free recheck if you don't pass, especially when it's for a silly reason like the onboard computer needing to reset. Places with free rechecks within 90 days are everywhere. This isn't one of them. It takes them 1 minute and they're not providing a certificate until it passes. No reason to pay twice. Go elsewhere for friendly customer service, customer-focused policies, and a clean place to wait. read more

My son took the Diesel E320 CDI there (I've had 4 other cars there). With Diesels it is mostly just CA legislation and they look, attach an OBD II and don't measure anything. The Check Engine light was on on arrival. They charged $50 to say the check engine light was on and it was from a glow plug. We knew that. I didn't know a glow plug would cause a fail. Fail. So got 6 glow plugs replaced, did $1,800 work. Took car back and they charged $30 to say it was not ready to be tested yet. I doubt I'll use them again. read more

It is a bit pricey at $59.95, but with the coupon, it's just under 50 bucks, but that also includes the electronic transmittion of the certificate to the DMV which other places will charge $8. So for under 50 bucks, I was in and out in under 20 minutes. More tips: Make sure you have a relatively new battery in your system, and also drive around in the freeway or at least 55 mph before you do the smog check. This guy scammed me. I did not know check engine light was an automatic smog inspection failure; Before he did my smog check he saw my engine light was on, and didn't say anything, and did the smog check. Once smog check was over he said he is not talking to me and that I must pay first before he says anything. Once I paid the $40 fee, he then explained that I passed smog but not the test since my engine light was on. I asked why he didn't tell me it was an automatic failure before doing the smog and that he basically just screwed me and he said too bad I have to get my car fixed before it will pass. I understand that people may walk away if he would tell them beforehand but there is also a much cheaper option to have him diagnose the issue and see if it would pas the smog check itself (even though it wouldn't pass the smog inspection due to the check engine light). His lack of honesty and transparency up front really irks me. This is also the guy that flys old Glory and the Marine Corps flag outside of his shop because he is apparently patriotic. That is not the case; As I explained to him that I am active duty and that I would have paid the lesser fee to find out if everything else was ok and to also find out the error codes for the light and then come back to get the smog check once fixed, he didn't care or offer that deal he just said to leave. I would avoid this place at any cost. I went there on my bicycle just to check the price, the guy I talked to was very unhappy that I didn't come ready to pay for the work. He never quoted me clearly how much I would be paying at the end, even though I showed him the DMV documents, he insisted me to drive up my truck to the station without quoting me the total cost.(I had a coupon from the station, but I knew it was realistic to think that some additional fees added to make the final cost.) Some stations are very secretive about it and they like to keep it a secret until they come up with the final bill. Once they put the final bill in front of you , its pretty much final. No amount of arguments nor questions will change it. You just have to pay it. And you have no help, no legal protection. read more

I bought a Groupon to use for this business lass then 1 week ago, but past my 3 days to get a refund. I called them to see if I can come and and the gentleman informed me his boss called him 30 minutes prior to me calling and would no longer accept groupons, even though I've already paid for it. I called the owner and asked if he would be willing to make an acceptation since I have already paid for the service and he said there was no way for him to do so. So I just paid for a service I can't use and the owner had no sympathy. I understand Groupon for businesses can be hard, but if I already paid for this service with the expiration ending in February of 2020, you should still accept it. Beware of this smog check individual. If you have a car that sits in the garage continuesly and nothing wrong with the car engine, the car may require that you drive your that the computer of the car and the catalytic converter to sync with each other. This individual charge you 2 or 3 times for the tests but many honest and reliable smog check they charge you only once before and after drive. Super fast service. They took my van in immediately. I also found a coupon on their website that I had printed and brought in, making it the best deal around. So I'm thankful for saving money and fast service. My frustration is my driver window has a note taped across it that says "do NOT roll down, window BROKEN" well, they rolled it down. It took longer to get my window back up then doing the smog check did. Overall, I'll probably come back here because of the fast service and good price, and I would recommend them to others to go to. We have been taking all of our vehicles to this location for years. Last year my 4Runner didn't pass so the gentleman recommended a shop next door to do some repairs needed. Long story short it passed. This year we got notice that AGAIN it needed a smog so my daughter came in and he immediately told her it wasn't going to pass it needed some repair work. So we again had repairs required costing $1,100. The shop told us we would need to drive it 100 miles the. Take it in. My daughter did and EZ Smog charged her THEN told her it wasn't ready. I had to go here twice. First time, my "Check Engine" light was on. Alas, failure by that sensor reading alone. The light had been on for a while since a rat chewed on some wiring under the hood. It didn't affect the car's performance at all and the dealer and an independent repair shop quoted me $300 to repair. "Forget it", I said at the time. But now the DMV really wanted a smog test so I was forced to get it repaired. So I took the car to another independent shop that just fixed the wiring harness instead of replacing it thus saving me over $200. (See my review of Neighborhood Car Care!). So then I took the car back and my Accord passed the test without a problem. Sean, the tech, was very pleasant and courteous. In the end, not only did he save me time, but money too. Other "check only stations" wanted $60-80 to do the test. I was out of there for just $43. Good service, honesty and I saved money....Woohoo! As good as it gets! read more
