The tag line at the web site says life's a journey make it EZ ride!
I know this is after the summer but I do not see it on Yelp and this is for next year for all the Benny's who love the beach! Benny's from Wikipedia -"Benny is a derogatory term used by year-round residents of the Jersey Shore to describe rude, flashy, loud, tourists from North Jersey and New York. Since local residents appreciate the tourists' economic contribution, the term "Benny" sometimes refers to only those unpleasant tourists that cut lines, drive recklessly, start fights, harass women, or deliver other disrespect. in NYC they are called "hipsters".
Benny is actually an acronym for the tourists from Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark, and New York - and areas around them."
This shuttle bus is only $1.00! It is to help reduce shore traffic which has become a night mare since that awful show was aired! Not saying the name of the show. Not that I hate the show it just should be called something else as it doesn't represent the true Jersey shore which is my favorite place outside of Hawaii. Hawaii wins due to the perfect weather and mix of cultures. The traffic is bad to the shore now for other reasons as well. One is NYC is made up of many transplants as of the last ten years who do not have the ignorant prejudice that many native New Yorkers have about the shore. I have been going to the shore for several decades. I went with a NYC church group and fell in love!
The traffic is also bad due to our beloved mayors crazy traffic ideas which changed any trips out of or in town.
The bus service is open to the public for $1.00 a ride and operates Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day from 9:00 a.m. through 11:00 p.m. In June, the route serving Bradley Beach/Neptune/Asbury Park will not operate on Fridays.
The true shore beaches are really super clean and especially the bathrooms. I have never been to a clean NY beach bathroom and that includes the Hamptons!
The food at the shore is better especially the sea food and it is less pretentious.
Clearly marked shuttle stops are situated along the avenues and return trips are timed to allow travelers to get back to the train station in advance of their departure.
To keep fares low and encourage ridership, the program is jointly funded by NJ Transit, which pays 75% of costs, and the local townships being served, which pay 25%.
The Asbury Park and Bradley Beach jitney will also serve Ocean Grove in Neptune. EZ Ride jitney buses will meet NJ transit trains as they arrive.
Asbury Park is famous and popular with New Yorkers and tourists and it has many restaurants and shops. Ocean Grove is a clean pristine Victorian town looking identical to Maratha's Vineyard but with a quirkier crowd making it more fun but there is only one beach stand with food of hamburgers and hot dogs. They have zoning laws due to trying to maintain the Victorian theme but it has been voted the best swimming beach on the shore for many years in a row. Bradley Beach is the least crowded due to the fact that there are pay parking meters only at he beach. Ocean Grove is colder than the others good only in a heat wave,. Bradley beach is the hottest. Asbury is a regular beach but much hotter than Ocean Grove. I am giving the run down of those areas so New Yorkers who haven't been before can try it now. I suggest trying all 3! The problem is you have to buy beach pass so you can't try them all in one day. But paying to be on the beach is what makes it clean. Just look at the trashy New York beaches like Jones beach! The water is mostly clear and cleaner than California but not as clean as Hawaii.
From May 25, 2012 through September 3, 2012, Shore EZ Ride will operate two jitney bus routes that connect the train stations in Long Branch, Asbury Park and Bradley Beach with their beaches. Long Branch has experienced a gentrification and attracts a lot of tourists. Though it has a lot of positives it is not the best beach to experience the true Jersey shore! But it is closer to NY than the other beaches and unlike the other towns has hotels on the beach! So go to the shore on the train and get taken to the beach by the Jitney! But warning if you do go to the shore, you won't want to ever go to a NY beach again! BTW this is another first to review and the date is September 14th 2012. read more
