All of the staff here were incredibly kind and helpful. They had a good variety of glasses to pick from, and the lady, (Gizelle? Her name had a G and Z, I feel bad I don't remember), helped me find the exact frames I wanted from a picture I showed her of glasses I had years ago. I also got a pair of prescription sunglasses and the cost of both was really good. Especially compared to the prices I've paid in the past at other places. I'd highly recommend this location. The side with the optometrist was also incredible. The staff was knowledgeable and welcoming. They were happy to answer questions. I was there as a walk in on a Saturday and couldn't have been more pleased with my experience. I was in nearby visiting family that watched my kids so I could go in. And even though I live nearly 2 hours away, I would happily make the drive next time I require an optometrist appt or new glasses. read more

Let's be short and to the point. Took prescription in. Employees were pleasant. Got glasses. They seemed ok. Lens fell out, took back to store. They reseated it. Repeated this three more times in the space of 2 months. I asked about just getting a lens/different frame where this didn't happen and was told "we'll just put the lens back in". Since then the lens has popped out on average twice a week. I won't b going back. read more

Maureen, at the Wilmington, NC store, was a tremendous help to me. I just went in to get a pad replaced on my glasses only to find out that it was stripped. I had no choice but to get new glasses and I'd already used my insurance to pay for prescription sunglasses. I was expecting to have to pay a lot of money for new glasses. Maureen went into overdrive coming up with affordable solutions and brilliantly realized I could simply buy the same frames and just use the lenses I already have. She has no idea how much she blessed me! That woman deserves a raise!!! read more

I personally had a great experience with Eyemart Express but just witness some unprofessional behavior with the independent doctor's staff. I understand you don't employ him but you rent him space. Which in my book speaks poorly on you as well. A customer came in upset that no one was answering the phone. Probably because they were dealing with other customers. But this customer clearly was already mad. The ladies handling her wasn't rude to her face but when she left without saying anything. The employee tried slamming the glass window causing it to come off track. Then proceeded to say how rude she was and started to talk a little trash. All fine if myself and my young kids wasn't in the waiting area watching all of this. I'm sure she needed to blow off steam. But she should have walked away. No she is scheduled her own doctor appointment. As the office phone is ringing. Oh boy. read more

I spoke to a charming female employee on the phone, and she told me that they could fit lens into glasses I already own. I went in with my prescription, and the gentleman behind the counter was dismissive and rude. He told me they do not place lens in glasses they do not sell. When I asked him his name, he spat "Ken" at me. I have purchased glasses here before for myself and my children, but no thanks. I've observed him with customers before but was fortunate not to have a personal interaction. I do believe he knows his job. I do not expect every interaction from employees to be warm, fuzzy, or even charming. I do want respect and marginal customer service. read more

I went in to purchase glasses after my exam, I did not have my insurance card but knew it was on file since my husband had purchased glasses recently. The girl immediately acted as though I was inconveniencing her with my visit, she dismissed me from the table and told me to go look around while she looked up my benefits. I had already looked at frames previously so I knew what I wanted. I went to the section 10' from the table and began looking for the frames I wanted. Moments later the employee loudly announced I had no benefits, I was not the only customer in the store at the time. I stopped in my tracks and told her I should, knowing my insurance was active. The employee looked and stated my information didn't come up in their system, but after further review she found my benefits. I went back to find the frames I wanted to purchase. The employee came up to me handed me my prescription and told me what my insurance contribution towards frames would be. she walked away and went to check on another customer. during my time in the store she checked with the male customer at least 3 times, she did not attempt to assist me at all. The moment I decided I could not purchase from this location came when an elderly customer came in and the same employee made a joke about the employees own skin color, it was completely unprofessional. I will take my business to a store that employs professional staff that value confidentiality and serving all customers equally. read more

Today I was helped by Jerry. He was a very sweet man who greeted me with a smile and welcome as soon as I stepped inside. I believe their was a change in staff because Jessica and another gentlemen were so sweet and helpful as well. They took my order 15 minutes before closing and my glasses were done the next morning right when they opened. There is a huge selection of frames for men, women, and children. They do not accept Tricare but they offer military discount. read more

He talked down to everyone in there and I'm Pretty sure he runs plenty of business off. I have not ever wirtten a "ok" review before today about a place. Eyemart Express in Jacksonville that is down on Western Blvd, it wasn't the best experience. I called before going in to see if I could get lenses switched out into new frames. I spoke with Jerry and he told me it would be no problem to come in any time today before they closed. So, I was all excited to go because I had a pair of glasses that basically were brand new because I hadn't worn them very much, since the metal part broke trying to adjust the nosepad on the left side. Well, when I got there, the receptionist girl took my information and everything, had to change a phone number.. I guess they can't change out lenses if they are in different frames..I never knew that, because my original frames had been bought there at that exact store. So, I only got one pair in new frames and not the other pair.. which I was disappointed about because I wear the other pair more because they have the transitions lenses for sunlight on them.. I didn't think popping out lenses and putting them into the exact frame you originally got from their very store was going to be such a hassle, but it's okay.. I have a scheduled eye exam coming up and hopefully since it will be on a Friday, everything will go according to plan, and by according to plan I mean, without any hassles or problems. The receptionist girl did say for me to have a nice day after giving me back my glasses, which they didn't adjust the nosepads, or wipe off the fingerprints that were smudged across the lenses. I don't know if it was the rainy weather or what, but something was up with the service for some reason. Like I said, hopefully my scheduled appointment will go better, guess I will find out. read more

Have bought glasses here in the past with no issues, but today was a different story. The gentleman (and I use that term lightly) was so condescending it wasn't even funny. I asked about the specials advertised online as well as the military discount that is advertised and was told both times that I could only get those if I bought new frames.. my frames are only a year old, and are perfectly fine, but my RX had changed, I just needed new lenses. $179.00 later, (instead of the two full pairs for $79.00 that was advertised) my progressive lenses were put into my existing frames. They are EXTREMELY SHARP all around the bottom. It's like they were rough cut, and no further polishing was done. In additional, my glasses were handed to me without being fitted, and without verifying that I could even see out of them. That and the attitude, and I'm seriously considering taking them back to the store. I feel tremendously taken advantage of, and the more I think of it, the angrier I get. Save your money , go somewhere else. After reading a plethora of reviews, it seems I must have run into the infamous Kevin, or Ken who is the manager. Why a company would allow someone who treats their customers this way to continue, is beyond me. I stopped in here to get new glasses a couple of weeks ago. There were two people working in the store and neither one of them seemed like they wanted any customers. It wasn't what they said- it was how they said it. They asked me if I needed any help or was looking for anything in particular, but with an attitude that suggested they didn't care and were inconvenienced by my presence. There was only one other customer in the store. It's not like there was a long line. I left and bought my glasses online. Customer no-service. I should have read reviews, and gone elsewhere. First of all, I was helped by a wonderful employee, Stephanie. She had helped my wife, and was able to give me a rundown on my options (insurance coverage/needs). That is the ONLY reason I actually spent money here. The selection is pretty good, as well. EVERY OTHER INTERACTION I have had with this store since has been terrible. Each time I have gone to the store since my initial visit has been frustrating. For the record: at no point have I demanded to "speak to the manager" and I will not ask for my money back. 1. I went to pick up my glasses when they were finished. Kevin B (the manager), spoke to me as if my presence was annoying him: in between snapping "What do you need"? and "Have you gotten a text"? he managed to talk down to an elderly woman who had made the mistake of trying to read a sign too close to his desk. "Ma'am, you need to stay over there". The contempt in his voice made my teeth clench. 2. When I went to pick up my glasses, Kevin (the manager) tried to put them on my face. I'm not sure if anyone else gets annoyed by a stranger trying to shove something in their face, but, not cool. I'm a grown man, just hand me my glasses. 3. After a week, I went back to the store to ask if there was a way to go back to glass lenses. I paid for the anti-glare coating, which made the glasses I got from this store useless in my car at night. There's a rainbow/spectrograph effect through the lenses. This rainbow effect goes away when the new glasses come off. To be clear; my windshield, wiper blades and headlights were not changed when I got new glasses, and the only variable that changed was plastic lens glasses with "anti-glare". I had no one else to deal with at this store, Kevin was there, once again, annoyed that I had the audacity to come in while he was trying to work. Added bonus; he interrupted me each time I started talking. He even clicked his tongue and smirked when he pointed out what "anti-glare" coating was supposed to do. It was then that I realized that Kevin seems to think he's the only person in Jacksonville with a brain. After 2 minutes, it became clear that I was getting no help here, and would just have to get another pair of glasses somewhere else. I much prefer to shop in-person for items that I use daily, and local stores used to mean better customer service. Kevin's contempt for me and the other customers I saw and heard him interact with have ensured I will make my glasses an online purchase moving forward. read more

Eye mart Express apparently doesn't care that their Jacksonville, NC store is managed by the absolute worst person I've ever met when it comes to customer service. All of the reviews about "Kevin" are horrible. Nothing has been done. NOTHING! I went in to pick up my glasses, and I've never been treated so disrespectful by an employee in my life. I felt like a complete idiot with every comment he said. He was just mean, sarcastic and belittling. He treated the other customers the same way. While I was waiting for my turn, he was talking down to an older gentleman. When he was finished, as the customer was walking out, he looked at me and my husband, cussed and said it had been a waste of his time. I pray that I never have to go back to that store, but if I do, I pray that that nan Kevin has been FIRED! I've talked to other people from my church about my experience, and learned that others of my friends went there, and have experienced the exact same issue with this mean man. Eyemart Express, make a surprise visit. Pretend you're a customer. See how you're treated by Kevin. I promise, you'll never let him work another day there representing your company. Selection is great; and I understand the precautions necessary because of covid. However, the constant reminder to try to keep the number of frames we touched to less than 10 was a bit extreme. I'm spending money on something that will be on my face for at least a year. If it takes me more than 10 pairs to make sure I'll be happy with the money I spend, then so be it. Also, after waiting for and hour and 20 min for a text (that didn't come) letting me know the glasses are done, I called the store & the male employee was rude, and short insisting we wait on a text. I explained it had been over an hour & he again repeated, "have you received a text? Wait for a text." I waited. After 2 hours I went into the store to check. My glasses were ready - still no text. Later that evening I finally received a text that said the glasses had been made in 13 minutes! The employee that I spoke to could've checked and told me they were done, but instead was a jerk on the phone & I waited an hour and 45 minutes longer than I needed to. There was obviously an issue with the texting system & a little bit of good customer service would've gone a long way. Disappointing visit compared to other eyemart express locations. Small selection. Untrained staff. Zero supplies for contact wearers, like me, that purchased their glasses and wanted an adjustment/check the Rx before leaving. Other locations have had solution and cases on hand for use. Also refused for the complimentary eye glass case for the newly purchased glasses to be a hard case unless the frame was over $79. And initially did not provide cleaning cloths. Do not recommend this store. Overall I'm very happy with eyemart express as a company, assuming this one was just a bad apple. read more

Called the store and spoke to Kevin the manager who was very hostile about my concerns about a refund. Telling me I needed to go get re-examine and that he has 30+ plus years of experience. How about taking responsibility and instead of being rude try to help and not give attitude. I just went ahead and told him I would call corporate to handle this matter. He then said I'll refund you but after this I will break ties with you for any further services. Not happy at all how he handled this, very rude and dismissive. Just a quick note on a complete failure at your Jacksonvillle NC location. Went in the store this morning at 9:15 as my glasses broke and didn't have a spare. I selected two pair and was told that the glasses would be done in about two hours and I would receive a text when they were complete. Left the store about 10 am. I never received a text so I went in the store about 3:45. The lady informed me that they were expecting a part for a machine in the lab and it didn't come so the glasses were not ready but they were trying to get them done at a lab across town. Kevin called me after I left the store and apologized that they were notdone and let me know they might not be done the next day as their machine is broke. I asked him why they would even take my order if they couldn't do what they said they could? He stated that he thought they could get the machine fixed. I told him that it might have been proper to inform the customer and let them make the decision weather they wanted to take the chance. He then changed his story that the machine wasn't broken when they took the order. I find that hard to believe when the worker at the store told me that they part that was on order didn't come in to fix the machine. COMPLETE FAIL! read more

I went for a routine annual rye exam which costs nothing with my insurance. After the exam the dr said he was going to look into my eyes with a light. A few seconds in each eye ten he said I have mild cataracts. Yea I know I've had for 5 years. Then his receptionist billed me $65.00, and gave me some line that infuriated me even more. Go out to dinner and the waitress brings you chips first you didnt order. Then get a bill for a$12 for the appeitizer, inquiry why and get told the chef said you would like them. Wouldnt that aggravate you too? And the receptionist had no good answer when pressed. Then the office manager was called and told another bull story that ended up being a lie. This place runs acams. I should have never given the MN visa. Everyone beware. These people are after money. Not sure about the eye glasses store next door, I decided not to give them any more of my money. BRW I called my vision insurance, they said they prob as by coded it as medical and charged medicare. A $65 copays from medicare? How much did they charge for as one minute exam? And then I had Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal/ Davis. What did they charge davis? I won't be going back here...beware. and if you have to go to any medical place better ask up front how much and who they are billing and what for. read more

Never again! 2 years ago I went into this store on Western Blvd, Jacksonville NC. Everyone seemed so "put out" that they had to "wait on me"??? There was NOT one customer in the store and just 2 employees sitting there doing nothing, and yet I was an inconvenience! Last night I went back to the eye doctor next door and had my prescription update. I decided to go next door and see if anything improved...NOPE! 2 men and a young woman and I was nothing but an inconvenience...NOT ONE customer in there, I am starting to see why, I looked around. Poor selection, one small wall for woman.. about 2 dozen glasses in the $20 to $40 range + whatever, and up $$ from there. I picked up a pair that was $39+ and was given a quote of $139+ as the lowest possible price when everything was said and done...ummm NO! for the very low end glasses? Needless to say by the time you got to the end of the wall every thing that was "nice" was out of the question monetarily speaking for an "out of pocket" customer like me. I left. I decided today to just give one of these online glasses sites a try but they require your PD measurement. I know you can do it yourself, but if you are blind as a bat without your glasses it makes it difficult, soooooo I called Eyesmart. As I said, I bought glasses there 2 years ago so they should have that information. I am pretty sure the man who answered is one of the men who sat around doing nothing last night. He immediately said "we don't give that information out"!...WHAT??? it's MY information??? Afraid you are losing a sale??? Well guess what? that was lost last night. I told him "This is why I will NEVER walk in that building agin" and hung up.
