I guess it's official - I'm officially old-AF. I have noticed a little trouble reading as of late,…read moreso I made an appointment for a first-ever eye exam. Reading off little letters, eye drops, struggling to keep your eyes open through the blinding lights, the whole "which is better - A or B" contraption - it is all something of a blur. All I know is following the battery of exams, the doctor, Dr. Weyer, concluded, I am in need of bi-focals. I just stared at him for a minute while I processed what that meant. When my witts returned to me, I queried, "you mean I need the same proper glasses my dear old grand dad sports?" I then spent an hour trying to find frames that I could learn to live with. I found a few options: Nautica, Burberry, and Calloway. As I was trying on one pair of squared thick black frames, one of the assistants said, "Those make you look like a professor." Dryly, I said, "I am a professor ... so ... these make me look normal then, do they?" I settled for a blue frame from their Nautica collection. They are not huge, but large enough to support a normal upper half as well as the Hubbleness of the lower bifocal half. So there we are - one week later and I just received my new proper glasses. I am getting used to them; when they are on, I feel as if I have a full face motorbike helmet on. Although this has been an unwelcome milestone along the aging process, the employees at the Vision Care Center were extremely friendly, helpful, and patient. Vanity aside, I can see, so I guess that is the most important thing.

My first visit to The Vision Care Center was a positive experience. Reception intake was…read moreefficient. Nominal wait time (less than 10min past appt time) before I was greeted by my optical technician, Janie. My history was reviewed and the preliminary assessments were performed. Janie performed hand hygiene prior to administering eye drops. (although this is standardized and should never be skipped, I always recognize and thank my care providers for adhering to hand hygiene practices!) Dr. Green was my optometrist today. He was pleasant, thorough and professional. He, too, performed hand washing prior to conducting the exam. Adequate time was given for my questions to be answered. My Rx had not changed, so of course there was no need for new glasses. I was provided a copy of my renewed eye prescription without having to ask for it. Absolutely no pressure to make a purchase of new frames/lenses - it was totally up to me. I plan to return to The Vision Care Center for my next annual exam.

I was really looking to pick up a pair of black RayBan Wayfarers. Being a kid of the 80's I lusted…read moreafter a pair of these for years. Finally, I decided to take the plunge and fork out a tiny fortune for a pair. I wanted sunglasses and I wanted pair I could actually see in which would mean I would need my prescription added to them. I couldn't find a local optometrist who could fit me in a pair of RayBan Wayfarers. Eventually, I decided to put my trust in LensCrafters. I had visited one once before when I was tasked with replacing a pair of crushed eye glasses after late night partying in Las Vegas. I stopped into LensCrafters with prescription and RayBan model number in hand. They immediately set me down and the process began to adorn my face with classic cool fashion. Within an hour I walked out with a pair of hot looking Wayfarer prescription sunglasses. After a few days my wife realized that I may have gotten the frames a size too small. OH NO! I thought all was lost. I was ready to throw my hands in the air and just rock tiny frames and look like a goof around town. However, I remembered the sales lady said I could return them if I did not like them. Whew.. I decided to pay LensCrafters a visit this time with tiny Wayfarers in hand. I explained to the sales person what happened and pointed out they were too small. I also did a bit of research on the inter webs and found there was a larger size Wayfarer frame available. Thank goodness I am not the only person in the world with a larger sized dome. The good souls of LensCrafters were able to order those larger frames and fit me. The staff was extremely helpful and pointed out the pros and cons of all the available options. Within a week I was rocking my new proper sized RayBan Wayfarers. Things were going great; and in the event my future got so bright I'd actually have shades... A pair of classy prescription RayBan Wayfarer shades!. Sweet!

I use to expect three things from LensCrafters. Speed, accuracy, and quality. Now that they have…read moreno employee to support their stores they speed is slow. I had to wait a week. What happened to an hour? Accuracy the took accurate measurement of my eyes relative to the frame for my stigmatism, they stopped that and I have headaches. I have went back for adjustments and the customer service is slow because again lack of employees. Quality is poor to my wife bough lens and they had bubbles. We bought the warranty and we were told after one replacement the lens would not be covered. If I wait a week now I expect perfect quality at this price and time. I will visit again in a few weeks if things are not changed I am moving on and telling my friends LensCrafters is not the same. If you are wondering why people do not shop their any more look at what you have changed and go back or listen and improve.
