UPDATE: My receipt only showed $109 and I thought that was my total since I don't have vision insurance. However, then I received an additional bill. My earlier review was misleading. The total appointment was $323.00 but I still think this was reasonable for what I had done. read more

eyecarecenter - Optometrists Near Me - Kernersville, North Carolina

I came here because I turn cough 4errr cough and I would benefit from reading glasses. After the first visit lasting over 1.5 hours, I came back 3 weeks later to pick them up. Over corrected. Made an appointment for a recheck. Was scheduled with in house Dr who refused to see me because initial appt was virtual. Spoke with Brittney the manager and she said the RX was wrong on the glasses. Shipped for round 2. Got them a couple weeks later: everything close up is blurry and everything in distance is the same if I have or don't have glasses. So, Brittney scheduled me for today at 1 for another virtual recheck. If I had known it would take me 5 hours for a simple pair of reading glasses, I would NOT have come here. read more

Absolutely THE WORST eye care center. If you call the office, no one answers and no one returns your call. Do not go to this office for any reason. read more

I never imagined the worst customer service I'd experience would be at an eye doctor's office--but here's my experience with Eyecarecenter in Kernersville. My initial exam was on 11/14/24. I had both glasses and contact exams and wanted to switch from monthly to daily contacts. I was fitted and went with the brand recommended by Dr. Mehta. When I picked up my order, I received two large boxes but no trial lenses. Having worn contacts for over 20 years, I knew trials are usually provided, especially with a new brand. I asked about the trials and was told they forgot to order them, but could place the order now but it could take a while for them to come in. I decided to try the 3-month supply and asked about options if I didn't like them. They told me I could switch brands within six months. After three months of use, I wasn't happy with the lenses. I sent an email on 04/05/25, explaining I was not happy with the new brand and requesting a switch. I received a reply on 04/08/25 saying they couldn't change the prescription because it had been six months since my exam. At this time it had been about just shy of 5 months since my exam with about a month and a half left before I hit 6 months. I emailed back pointing this out, but got no reply. I followed up with a call a week later and was told Dr. Mehta was on vacation and to wait another week for her to get back. Still waiting and running out of contacts, I emailed again the next week and got a call that same day. This time, they told me they couldn't alter the prescription because it had been more than three months since the initial exam--completely contradicting the original six-month policy I was told. I explained my frustration and reminded them this all started because they forgot to order my trials. Long story short, they refused to help unless I paid for another exam. Now I am out of contacts and have to pay out of pocket for another exam and fitting because I already used my insurance. If you're considering Eyecarecenter of Kernersville, I recommend going elsewhere. The lack of communication, poor service, and disregard for patients made this a truly frustrating experience. read more

I had an appointment last Friday. We were expecting snow, but I still went on to my appointment as usual since it wasn't snowing at the time. Took time off work and went on. I get there and there is a sign on the door, closed due to snow. Why wouldn't you call and let me know you have cancelled my appointment. So now I have left work early for an appointment that never happened. I should of read these reviews before I made my appointment. I am not rescheduling. I'll go back to Walmart before I go to you. read more

I just knew this would be a continued issue. So now after they submitted the claim to my VSP insurance, they say I still owe $15. This is due to the "In House Warranty" they tried to sell me. As stated before, I refused it but then she said that she would discount it and sell it for 15$. I agreed. So they charged me for my copay, glasses, and any out-of-coverage charges at the time of service, including the discounted $15, "In House Warranty". But wait.......they tried to bill the insurance company for the $15, which of course is not covered by my insurance and they had already charged me the $15 and I paid for it at my original appointment. This is called "Double Dipping". They cleverly hide it and blame the insurance company coverage for not paying for it. So basically, the supposed discount she was giving to me for the, "In House Warranty", is not an actual discount as they will now try to get it back from me after my insurance denies the claim. I called the billing department, which is farmed out to workers who are in another country and English is a second language. She could not answer or resolve anything. So she bumped me to an Investigation which will be 10-14 days and I will get an answer as to what exactly happened. So is this a clerical error or insurance fraud? We shall see. Wow! Just.....Wow! read more

It has now been about two months since my eye exam with Dr Freeman and I still DO NOT HAVE MY GLASSES!! They had to be sent back to the lab twice because there was a mistake made during both of my fittings. At this point I want to pick up my prescription and have my glasses made elsewhere. You need to refund the cost back to the insurance company immediately!!!! I expect a phone call Monday morning. Totally Unacceptable!! NEVER RECEIVED A CALL!! DO NOT TRUST OR USE THIS BUSINESS! This place promised a $49 refund by check in February/early March after having to speak with their marketing department, location manager, and district office. I have been unable to come in due to my health and was told it's 8-12 weeks for a check to be sent (excuses?!? I think so!). It has been over 6 months since my visit and subsequent refund promise, with the BBB contacted and this company failing to act. To date I have NEVER received my promised refund per Dr. Alison Bailey and Ms. Brittany Washington. They do not return emails from the BBB nor myself and this goes ignored and my claim unresolved. DO NOT use this clinic! Terrible customer service, untrained staff, and no valid prescription I can use. This is the WORST eye clinic I have ever experienced. To EyeCare Center staff: please immediately resolve this outstanding monies owed. read more

I'm giving 2 stars because my eye exam was excellent. But I ordered glasses that same visit and still haven't received them 2 months later. I called after not hearing from them for 3 weeks and they said there was a problem and had to send them back and it would be another 2 to 3 weeks. 5 weeks later, still no glasses. Asked for a refund and waiting for the manager to reach out to me. read more

I was seen there to get glasses and renew my contact lens prescription . The doctor and the nurse were wonderful. They both answered all questions and were very professional. 10 days later I called to see if the sample contact lenses that the doctor recommended I try were in. Nobody knew anything about them. (I'm pretty sure none were ordered) they said they would order them and they should be in 3-5 days. After waiting 5 more days I called and was left on hold for 30 minutes while they looked for them. They then asked what doctor I saw ( shouldn't this be in my chart?) then after holding for a few more minutes they came back and said they were not there yet. Now I'm worried that I will run out of what I have left while waiting so I asked the person I was speaking to to just email me my original prescription for the lenses I had been using and I can get it filled at Costco. I was told they cannot do that so I am driving and picking it up. I feel like their disorganization ruined the great impression I had for this company and feel like I can't trust them to do what they say they will. read more

I went to the Eye Care Ctr. in Kernersville, NC for an exam and new eyeglasses. The lense Rx was so off I could not even see with them. I called them and they set me up with a new appt. and also need different frames as the frames could not be adjusted so they would not dig into my head. When I went back to pick up the 2nd pair of eyeglasses they said I had a 'balance' and I said 'no' I paid in full already. I have vision insurance and said I owed another high amount on top of the expensive amount after vision coverage was applied. I have contacted my insurance company and Eye Care Center multiples times and ECC lied to me and said the Manager was on vacation and she was in the office as one of the ladies slipped and stated that to me. The Manager was suppose to call me back yesterday and she never did! Now the ECC has my monies and I have 'no' new eyeglasses as I won't pay the new amount as there is no description of the charges and my insurance company does not either. I contacted my Attorney, wrote an email to ECC and next the District Attorney if this is not resolved in the refund of my money ASAP, so I can go get some new eyeglasses with the correct Rx. I am now hearing that many people are not getting correct vision Rx's from this location. Also the Associate was very rude to me and I nicely pointed that out to her. read more

I went in for a ruptured blood vessel in my eye. I called late afternoon and was able to get an appointment the next morning. Scheduling was easy and quick. Dr Groce was great and so was his staff. They was very prompt and did not leave you waiting for long periods of time. Thanks for reassuring me that it was nothing to worry about and would heal on it's own. Everyone was very friendly and made you very comfortable. I will recommend you to friends and family. read more
