The waiting times are unacceptable, the staff schedules an appt for 8 am but they don't actually arrive at the office until 8 am, therefore they are behind from the start of the day. Additionally, the pricing is out of control, instead of keeping contact lens "fitting" as part of the regular price of an exam, it is now an extra charge although nothing in the exam has changed, they now also charge a fee for debit/credit card payments--this is a cost of doing business and is abhorrent. So, nickel and diming patients as well as making them wait an hour for an appt--overall not a good way to run a business.

So, I have to take vacation time to attend an appointment since the office isn't open during lunch or after the normal business hours of 8-5. Pleased with my eye exam experience, I ordered both glasses and contact lens. I was told I would be called when they arrived; after three weeks with no call, I went in and discovered the glasses had arrived a week earlier. I understand things happen and occasionally an order slips through the cracks; at any rate, I was happy to have my glasses. After picking up my glasses, I waited nearly 2 months for my contacts to arrive with no contact from the office. I periodically called and received various reasons explaining the delay ranging from a backorder at the manufacturer to a delayed UPS delivery to no record being found of my order. When the delivery finally arrived, after speaking to the clerk numerous times to schedule a time to pick them up, I took a vacation hour and drove over. They STILL had not arrived despite being told they were in the office. I really do like Dr. Venard and think he's a great optometrist, but my experience with purchasing frames and contacts with his office ensures I will never use him again.

Get a bill several months later for $100 because the Dr/staff coded the routine visit as dry eyes visit. After multiple phones calls to get the correct code on the chart. No solution. That's what the Dr said per the staff. So we are in the search for a new place to check on the eyes. No different than a routine Dr visit with primary care and they ask you about your heart you mention your heart races when you go upstairs -It doesn't become a specialized visit and coded as a heart cardiologist visit . I was so surprised and pleased with how well the OU Medical Center emergency room was run. I was only there a few hours if that. They sent me to the Dean McGee Institute so they could laser the tear in my eye. Dean McGee had me in one hour later. After seeing a series of doctors, because it is a teaching hospital. The problem was taken care of. the doctors were amazing, friendly, caring, professional, and knowledgeable. I was dreading having to go to the emergency room and then be sent somewhere else, but if I had to do it, it was the best it could be and yeah I saw about eight doctors total yesterday but that's the way it goes in a teaching hospital and every single one of them are amazing.
