I've gone to this place for years and I highly recommend them. Not only have I gone to them for glasses and regular examinations, but Dr. Hood was such a big help when I scratched my eye. She met with me on Mother's Day. Then, she even called as a follow up to see how I was feeling and gave me her cell phone number for an emergency. Her customer care is impeccable and I highly recommend her! read more

It is a tiny location near bonnabel on vets. The staff were very friendly. The doctor was patient with my 10 year old during her eye exam. I left feeling that her results were accurate. The selection of glasses are outdated and slim. Alot of frames were the same just in different colors. I was told they would arrive in a 7-10 days when it ended up being over 2 weeks. read more

Eye Works - Front desk - Optometrists Near Me - Metairie, Louisiana

I love my visits with Dr. Hood. You read that correctly. Eyeworks has a pleasant staff that make eye care easy. They are very accommodating with appointments and take walk-ins if you're suffering and tempted to rip you eye out of it's socket. The waiting room is clean and comfortable and waits are pretty nonexistent. Appointments are timely and you will receive a call reminding you of your visit. I think they accept most insurance coverages and if you don't have any vision coverage, Dr. Hood and her staff will help you weigh your options. If you wear contacts, you have the ability to order them online, which is nice. Bottom line, the service is personable, simple and professional. I can't imagine going anywhere else for my eye care needs. read more

I was here to get prescription safety glasses as my optician was not covered by my company. I had called earlier in the day and was told that I didn't need any appointments, just to drop by after 2PM. So I did. Finding the place was easy enough but I did accidentally park in the lot along the fence only to find that it was /not/ for Eye Works but Wal-Greens (oops!) The place itself is small, quaint, and pretty cozy. When I had arrived, they seated me in the waiting area. The receptionists were friendly and cheerful- there were two ladies working the desk and one assistant (Naomi) in the front. After a short wait, Naomi started me with sifting through the horrid catalog of un-cute industrial grandpa peepers. She was extra-helpful and even went out of her way to try and find similar frames that they had in stock so I could get a feel for what I was resigning myself to. I really appreciate how much effort and service she put into my time there, especially considering how little commission they make from these sales. I've been to many places where they will just dump you in a corner with the catalog and leave you at that. Naomi's great attitude shows that they really do care about the customer! During my stay, a lady had come in to get her frames adjusted. Naomi helped her expertly and even did it for free. :) I had a great experience overall and am looking forward to picking up my order. The only thing I think they could have done differently would have been to call with a followup to let me know that my order was placed and about when I should expect to hear from them again. read more

What a joke. I walk in this place for a eye exam and glasses. Both attendants sitting behind desk without a mask on. Then I'm told they can't help me unless I wear a mask. So someone tell me why we get vaccinated? read more

Always enjoy my visits with Dr. Hood. She is very thorough with her examinations and fits me with the right contacts every time... The staff is pretty average, not overly friendly not rude. They seem to know what they are doing and get me in and out quickly. read more

I purchased a Groupon towards one eye exam and $200 glasses in 2015. The promotion was misleading. The cost of the frames and lenses was significantly more than I expected. These were non designer glasses and basic frames for my daughter. In the end, the prescription was too strong. I regret choosing Eye Works and will never returned. read more

Thought I was getting a good deal and helping a local business out. Never again for this business. Used a "Coupon", still paid over half a K for an exam, cheap frames and less than quality "transitional" lenses. Have had problems with staff passing on phone messages to the doctor or the doctor just doesn't return calls to the customer. When i called before my warranty was expired,(which was Halloween) I was told by staff that i would get the replacement in two weeks. It's now 2014 AND I still have a broken frame and scratched lenses. I have contacted the staff three times since then and they keep saying the doctor will call you...It's not happening???? Doctor thinks I'll just go away?? Away I go, to Yelp!!! read more

Dr. Hood is very pleasant and takes her time with the exam, however my issue is with the staff/receptionist. I bought glassed 02/2017, and felt no need to get a new pair when I went for my eye exam this year in March. Instead I got a contact exam. That whole process really didn't go well, I could never get a correct fit of the contacts after going back and forth with the "fit" walk-in check up, I gave up. Fast forward to the 10/01/2018..I called because my LENS on the right is beginning to SPLIT from the nose bridge area of my frame, as well as scratches. I call to get them replaced and Stephanie tells me my warranty is expired at this point, BUT I can come in and pick another pair of FRAMES. I tell this young lady, it's NOT MY FRAMES, it's the LENS. She then says again that my warranty has expired and I'm basically out of luck unless I want to come out of pocket for a new pair of lenses. As of today, I'm STILL NOT confident at this point she knows I was talking about my lens. I begin to think about this whole situation and her response and the LACK of "CARE or CONCERN" in her voice, so I've been calling back since only to get a recording saying "they are now closed" from 504-241-9100. Today, I called back...same number and the same message, so I begin searching the internet for another number and I find it 504-837-8323 and someone finally answers. So, you move and don't update your info on the net so your customers can reach you! Anyway, I request a copy of my script for glasses and contacts and the proper way to request my records. I'm almost confident my lenses are Crizal and I have a TWO YEAR warranty on the lenses....BUT I'm cutting my loses and moving on! I've been wearing glasses for MANY years now, and I've never had an issue with getting my damage lenses replace no matter HOW long it's been! read more

Absolutely worst anything appointment I've ever had. It took a solid 3 months for them to figure out a prescription that wouldn't give me headaches. They were always late on set appointments, time for picking up glasses was 2 weeks longer than said. Refused to change the prescription on glasses they put the wrong lenses in. Shoddy customer service. Lense selection was small and not very interesting. Overpriced glasses (250 was the cheapest pair). Coupon had extra requirements tacked on at payment. Poor marketing and sales techniques by trying to deceive customers. Please, save yourself the trouble and never go here. read more

I consider this place the bee's knees. After having a very pleasant first visit, during which my troublesome eyes were fit for PERFECT contact lenses and super cute frames were selected for my eyeglasses to wear when not in contact lenses, I needed to return for a frame adjustment. The staff immediately recognized me upon my return, and kindly and very efficiently adjusted my glasses' frame for a PERFECT fit. These guys are phenomenal. I could not be happier! read more

I would tend to agree with J M. Now I feel like I should have written my review when I had my experience..... (and I wish this thing would allow NO start to be clicked) I moved to New Orleans in April of this year and, ONLY because I have a very good friend who is from here and knows all of the best places to go, I listened to him when he raved about getting three of the best pairs of glasses he has ever owned and he got them from this business. He insisted that the young lady that assists patients with glasses was very thorough, very knowledgeable, and honest in her opinion. He told me that even if I picked up the most expensive pair of frames in the place, if they were not a good fit for me, she would NOT let me get them without explaining WHY a different frame would be the best choice. Because I already had my prescription from my eye doctor in North Carolina and just needed to get it filled, I didn't need an appointment. Because I had just started working at my new job when I moved here, I had to wait until I could comfortably take some time off to go do this. In September, my friend called Eye Works and asked for the young woman who had impressed HIM so much. He was told that she was "out of the office" but that she would "be back" later that day. What a JOKE that was. THAT particular young woman LEFT this location earlier this year and after dealing with the rest of the staff and having one lady (who I later found out was the DOCTOR and owner of the place) snidely tell me that she did not care if I had a prescription, it was more than six months old and I needed a new exam if I "expected" to buy glasses from them. Yes, you read that correctly. #1 - my prescription, at the time, was just at FIVE months old. I had an exam done in the beginning of April of THIS year and moved HERE in the MIDDLE of the month. I went into this location in September....so, five months. #2 - IF I EXPECTED TO BUY GLASSES FROM THEM? No, I expected to be treated with respect being as I was CHOOSING to purchase something from them and had $ to burn on this above what my insurance would have covered. Needless to say, I stormed out, my friend was very upset that he had been lied to about the person he wanted to help me still being there, and I found somewhere else to go for my services. And the upside is that when I brought the business cards to my friend, he was ecstatic because the lady that helped me with my glasses at the new place was the VERY person he was trying to get me to see to begin with. I found EVERYBODY at Eye Works un-professional, rude and snide. Sorry J M that I didn't post before - I may have been able to save you the trouble. read more

Dr. David Hood is awesome it was a great experience for me and Lutzward. The staff was kind and professional.

Absolutely terrible. The quality of the frames is mediocre. But one of the worst things is the lack of knowledge of the staff to accurately advise customers on their frames, options and extras. It seemed like their main goal is just to sell, no matter what it takes, even outright lies and deception. My glasses (one pair of the two that I ordered) finally came in after a week and a half (the second pair was still on backorder), when I tried them on they were way too heavy and I could barely see. Note: I've worn bi-focals for many years. The "attendant"/store manager saw how awful they were, but didn't say a word. She said, "Oh, you need to get used to them". I brought them to my eye doctor. The prescription was completely wrong AND the bifocal area was crooked!!! They even forgot to cut the wire that holds in the lenses, so it was sticking out the side. In addition, the transition feature was put on the wrong pair. All in all, I would NEVER go there again and I issue a warning to stay away, unless you want sub-par service and cheap, poorly-made glasses that might not even be the right prescription. I'm appalled. read more

It's upsetting to see some of these reviews on here! I was there last week for my annual eye exam. I've been seeing Dr. Mary Hood for years now. I think everyone at the office is wonderful. Dr. Hood is very knowledgable in what she does and I feel confident in my prescription every year. Her staff was also very professional. The optician and front desk girl were very sweet on the phone and also patient with me when it came to picking out my glasses. I think everything is reasonably priced because you can tell the quality is of a higher calibur. You definitely get what you paid for! Overall, I continue to have a great experience year after year. I'm not sure why these other people had a bad time, but I'll always continue to see Dr. Hood at Eye Works. I've never had a bad experience with them. EVER. read more

Good eye exam fro Dr. Hood. She took her time with my daughter and the eye exam was very thorough. My biggest complaint is with the staff. After the exam we walked to the front and her assistant asked me what insurance we had while she was with another customer, I told her and she replied and pointed to a section of the glasses "these are the ones covered by your insurance" . My daughter looked at the wall of glasses and found a pair. The assistant took her measurements and then I walked up to the receptionist and asked what my payment was. The assistant interjected with " don't you have medicaid"? (Nothing wrong with medicaid) I replied with " No I do not" and the receptionist said no she doesn't she has regular eye insurance. First, who yells out a question like that with a waiting room full of people. Second, did she assume that we had mediciad and thats why we had such a limited amount of glasses to choose from? Great Dr. but her office staff need a to be a little more professional. I paid my balance and left. read more

Don't go! Worst experience ever. Staff was not knowledgable. pick up date promised 2x and dont have yet. Spoke to Manager there, RUDE. Dr. Stopped to teach tech how to work on glasses 3x during my appt. Not cheaper even with my coupon than anywhere else. I would suggest to book your appt elsewhere. read more

I've literally never had a better experience than the one I had at Eye Works. Knowledgable, helpful, and down right great customer service! Unlike most places I've been, they feel they're there to help you, as a customer. They're genuinely enthusiastic about their job and the work that they do. And that blonde! Wow! read more

The eye doctor appears to be competent to this untrained observer. Beyond that, this place is the worst. I had an appointment that I showed up early for, and was still kept waiting for nearly an hour with no "sorry" or consolation of any sort. They also neglected to actually order my glasses after my appointment, which I was told I would receive in 7-10 business days, and when I called back nearly four weeks later, they said they actually hadn't ordered them because I hadn't paid for them. The staff really needs to work on their communication skills. read more

I have been a patient here for years after being so dissatisfied with other places. I absolutely LOVE this place. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and most important CARE about it. I'm always greeted promptly with hardly a wait which is a major plus! Dr. Hood is so sweet and funny. I love the selection of glasses they offer- they are trendy and DURABLE. I have referred numerous people who feel the same way. read more

Dr. Hood and her staff are great!!! I've been a patient for the past 5 years and my daughter now goes to her as well. She is very thorough during the exam. Never go there!!! Unprofessional staff ( not the doctor), poor service and lack of professional spirit!!! sooo not patient, would rather enter the whole day's data, and let u wait!!! then, said, "only 10 minutes till we close." after I waited one hour. Made an appointment, but useless. Staff's time is more important. read more
