Yes he was wearing a mask and he said he got the shot, and then continued to chitchat about how his daughter attended a large gathering where 15 people later got COVID, but that his daughter didn't bc she had the shot. Not exactly what I wanted to hear when being in close quarters with someone. He honestly seemed sick. And he had open wounds all over his knuckles that were not bandaged up. They were bloody, and when I asked what happened to his hand he said "oh it's nothing, just dry and cracked." But he's a doctor and that should've been covered especially since I could see blood. I told him I'd like to continue doing my test rather than chitchat as I had lots to do that day. I got my prescription but the doc neglected to write the PD down. I realize the optometrist does this and not the doctor, but knowing that you need that number to get new glasses why wouldn't they just do that?

The staff seemed nervous and told me they were waiting for him to arrive. I was put in a room where someone (she did not introduce herself) gave me the exam with the letters on a chart. I could hear another patient in the room next door. I heard Dr. Kirk arrive at 11:30, an hour after my appointment. He treated the other patient first. When he finally came to me, he did not apologize or offer any explanation, or even friendly chit chat as he had in the past. While waiting over an hour for him, I had had to change appointments. He gave me a cursory exam, including dilating my pupils. I had to ask about my cataracts. He said they had grown and I could have the surgery or not. The he said he could change my prescription or not. No expert opinion or advice. He was not the same doctor I have known for years and I have made an appointment with another ophthalmologist. I will not be back.

Once I returned, I knocked and introduced myself to the optometrist and her response was "ok" and so I asked, "are you the doctor", and she curtly replied "I am" and continued on as if I was a nuisance. I'm not an etiquette expert but it doesn't take much to notice how rude and dismissive she was. I understand that her priority was her patient, my grandmother, but I am involved with my family's care and it doesn't cost anything to be respectful. Honestly, I'm glad I had this experience because I almost make the mistake of making an appointment here for my own eye care.

I went to Dr. Kardasis for cataract surgery but my vision was very poor. A prescription of -14 if…read moreyou can believe that. I believe my first appointment was in October of 2021 and I insisted I needed surgery before the end of the year. I was having trouble seeing at night and my contact lens only went up to a -10 so I was not seeing very well with them. My eyeglasses were so uncomfortable due to their thickness but I could see much better out of them. But, they were no where near a -14 so I had some vision loss using them too. Dr. Kardasis was so organized and thorough that he had my new lens in before Thanksgiving. So, I have gone from a prescription of -14 to perfect vision. There is no better feeling than waking up and being able to see - no more fumbling around looking for my eyeglasses. I am not wearing any eyeglasses or contact lens now. It is like a miracle! The entire procedure was a breeze. Just remember to use the drops he gives you and everything will be fine. I LOVE Dr. Kardasis and the wonderful gift of sight he has given me. I will be forever thankful!
