Meraki also uses a setting technique so that you only need to keep your lashes dry for 12 hours instead of a full 24 hours. I also imagine it will help them stay on longer, but that's just an assumption. The receptionists were both super sweet and helpful with booking appointments and suggesting the right lash cleanser to travel with. My lashes have never looked better and they are less expensive than most of the lash lounges in Louisville, which is hard to believe given the quality!

We did a little research, read some reviews, and then bought a Groupon to try out Absolute. The long and short? We do not regret the choice at all. We went to the salon as a walk-in. We were greeted and taken back immediately. The owner, Arati, is friendly and efficient. Watching her thread is fascinating, truly. She also gave me info about an upcoming closing of the salon for her vacation so that we could prepare accordingly, and I appreciate that level of detail. She did an amazing job; Emma's eyebrows look fabulous. Emma did say the pain was more than she expected, considering what she was told by friends...but that's the process, not the technician. Next time it won't be as painful because she will have less hair! It is definitely less damaging than waxing (after all, it doesn't remove layers of skin), and her recovery (after normal swelling and redness) was very fast. We will return for follow ups!

The first visit I scheduled with Denise, but did not find out I was seeing another stylist until I got there. It appeared Denise had scheduled someone else that was overlapping my appointment. Luanne was kind enough to volunteer to do my hair to help Denise, unfortunately it was apparent she had never done a true blowout. I could tell because she was asking Shelby how to use the curling wand. That was probably my sign to leave, but I thought I would give her a chance. Although Luanne was nice, she did a terrible job. She was very rough when using the round brush on my hair - it's surprising that I had any hair left. She dropped the blow dryer on my head and the curling wand. She tried to style my hair so it would look nice the next day, and didn't even bother to ask if I had somewhere to be that night (which I did). Evidently her arm or hand gives out occasionally - which makes me wonder why she's still doing hair. The blowout was not a true blowout and looked terrible. By the time the appointment was over, I was hungry and wanted to get the heck out of there and to my dinner, so I just gritted my teeth and told them it was good. I texted Denise later showing her there were sections of my hair without curl and after some back and forth she agreed to give me a do-over after Derby. She was VERY difficult to deal with, even tried to blame everything on me. Denise also explained to me that the blowout Groupon is for only straight hair. (This was not in the fine-print of the Groupon.) She said they canceled the blowout Groupon due to the misunderstanding of what a blowout is. In another text she even said she doesn't take Groupons - how does that even make sense? When I first got my Groupon in Feb, I made an appointment for June. Two days before my appointment she asked if I could come at a later time, but I couldn't. She then proceeded to tell me to show up early or on-time because she was going to have to work me in between her 530 - basically she was going to work on me while her color customer was processing. Evidently Denise cannot figure out how to make a schedule. While I am always on-time or early to my appointments, I decided to cancel since I don't prefer to share my appointment with someone else. She believes it's perfectly acceptable to work on multiple people at one time. I prefer to have the sole attention of the stylist. I canceled my June appointment and went ahead and got a full refund from Groupon ($55). Overall, I would not recommend ANYONE to come here. Denise was very difficult to deal with and you might have to share your appointment with someone else.

This was my first experience ever with eyelash extensions & posting a selfie on YELP. I wish I would have gotten some pictures of the inside of the space but it is decorated so comfortably with big chairs in the waiting area and the 6ish stations are long wide tables with pillows for your head and to lift your knees and are divided by curtains. They give you a blanket and noise cancelling headphones with lash radio. I think I took a small cat nap but it was just very relaxing considering you're getting your face worked on! Booking was easy..you can do it online or call in. For your appointment arrive a few minutes early for some light paperwork but they will offer you water, coffee, etc. while you're waiting. My appointment lasted 2ish hours starting with paperwork to walking out the door. To kick off the appointment they did a little consultation on me to figure out what I was looking for in my lashes and measured my current ones and offered their advice based on all the above! In the first part of the apt my eyes were very watery (i didn't realize there would be drops after they shampoo your natural lashes and my eyes just hate eye drops:) ) BUT she was patient and helped me to get them to completely stop watering before we started by using a small fan. I am so happy with the classic silk set being someone who doesn't wear a ton of makeup. My lashes were really short (7mm, average is 10mm they said) and blonde and I think now they're about 13mm and i didn't even get them tinted. They feel really light and I can't even tell they are there. yay! I had a great experience here and am excited to keep this lash thing up. It's crazy how such a small change makes such a huge difference for your face. I was pretty bummed I got these done on a Monday and had nowhere to go to show them off!

The day of my appointment came -- one day prior to my 10-day vacation, mind you -- and no one answered the phone at the office. I called when the salon was supposedly open, so I ended up leaving a voicemail, which no one returned. After the call, I received an AI message asking how they could help me, and I replied, "I want to confirm my appointment for today." The operator replied with my appointment details and asked me to confirm if that was the correct appointment. I answered "yes," and it replied that my appointment had been confirmed. Almost two hours passed. I was five minutes from the salon and called because I ran into traffic and was worried I would be late. Well, it turns out I had no appointment because my supposed lash tech no longer works there, and no one bothered to inform me via email, call, or message. I asked if I could be seen by anyone else, and they said no. And to top it all off, when I asked why I wasn't informed earlier so I didn't have to drive all the way to the salon, the lady said, "Yeah, that's my fault. I was running late to work today." Disappointment is an understatement. Horrible customer service. All in all, I am grateful I didn't give them my money.

Going to Shan is like affordable HairApy -- (a great cut and someone to listen) -she's flexible. Shan is willing to come in earlier than normal to fit you in if that works best for your life. Things about the Sensations Salon: -it's perfectly located in the Highlands 1 block from Bardstown and Eastern (across from Mark's Feed Store) -plenty of easy parking behind the salon -the interior and decor is clean, "highlands classy chic". It's upscale-ish, but not snoody -they offer tea, water, coffee for their clients -in addition to hair, they offer massage, tanning and mani/pedi's I was super impressed with the space and wouldn't trust anyone but Shan to do my hair!

I was immediately welcomed by Stephanie, and I was offered a beverage (water, coke, Diet Coke, tea, or coffee). The waiting chairs were comfortable, and I enjoyed the vibe from all the staff. You can tell they enjoy each other's company, and this made for an overall pleasant environment. I cannot recommend The Refinery Hair Lounge enough. I will be back!
