However, my experience with the front counter staff was painful. Let's start with the girl who performed the testing prior to seeing my optician struggled, tests had to be redone, and one test could not be completed, as the girl forgot to close out my file on one machine, before moving to another machine, and had to get help. This lack of understanding of the process in testing a patient was concerning. The same girl took my Walmart readers off the table, and tested them, without asking, treating them as if they were my current pair of glasses. I had to ask her to not use them for anything related to the testing being completed. I felt that the staff that were on site were unprepared to fit me for new frames and lenses, so I left and returned during the week, hoping to work with a more experienced and professional person. When I returned and selected frames and placed my order, there was no expectation of timelines for lenses and glasses to be prepared. After waiting almost 2 weeks with no reply, I called to ask where the glasses were and when they would be ready, and what my options were. When I came to pick up my glasses, the girl at the front counter could not answer simple questions relating to the glasses, what my satisfaction period is. All I got was a blank star and several shrugs, it was like the girl did not understand my question, or know the answer. I had to ask to speak with someone else, and spoke with who I believe was Alexis, based on the name on my receipt. During pick-up there was no check on fitment, just a cursory check as to how vision is with the glasses. No check of fitment, nothing as I picked up the glasses and case and left. I now am experiencing fitment issues with the glasses, they are sliding down my face and sitting lopsided, needing constant adjustment every 10-15 minutes of wear. My last question is can I go to any other Beyond Vision locations for adjustment, as I have low confidence in the staff at Oxford? I had purchased a pair of rather expensive eye-glasses from this location over three Years ago, and…read morein the last Year, one of the arms separated from the frame. The frames were useable, however were bound to break complete soon. I had asked a while back if they were repairable, however one of the staff stated probably not, so I should just get an exam and new frames. I initially was not impressed with this response, as at the time the frames were only two Years old, and were rather costly($300-400). I contacted the company that produce the frames, and they sent me on a wild goose chase to find a replacement part, however they eventually contacted IRIS to see if they could help. In short, after almost a Year, they were able to get the correct replacement arm, and my frames are fixed :) However please be aware, that most eye-frame companies only produce certain frames with parts readily available for two Years, where as a few frameless glasses are able to be repaired with available parts for several Years after production of the frames...

This is the Vision Centre inside the Leduc Walmart. I've been getting headaches and wanting to…read morechange my glasses, so I booked a last minute eye appointment here. I called in the morning and they were able to fit me in for 6pm. You don't need an appointment if you just want to browse around or buy something like glasses (if you know your prescription), but you do need an appointment for the eye exam. They take Alberta Blue Cross if you have it. If not you have to pay up front and go through any benefits plan you have to get reimbursed. Remember to keep your receipts and all that. I came in and they did two pretests with one of the ladies from The Vision Centre. The one where you look the the lens and see the balloon, the other where they puff the air into your eye. Having worn glasses since I was 10 I'm used to both tests, except the air puff one still made me blank and move my head back. Had to do that one twice for each eye because my first times didn't give an accurate reading. The optometrist Dr. Ramsey did my eye exam. It was pretty straight forward, and surprisingly my eye sight hasn't worsened as badly as I would have expected. My right eye changed slightly, but left stayed the same. Dr. Ramsey was friendly and helpful, and made sure to ask if there was any family vision history that would affect my vision (is there ever). He also asked me if I had any questions for him. I'd been looking at some online glasses retailers, which require you to know your PD number (pupilary distance). Apparently the optometrists at The Vision Centre don't do that reading...Walmart Vision Centre does and they charge $25 for it. I got the reading. Pretty sure that number doesn't change so I'll keep it on hand for future glasses shopping. I did look around at some of their glasses. They have a sale on at the moment where you can get 2 pairs of glasses for $170, except if you have a strong prescription like mine, after all the lens coatings and other things it's about $280 for 2 pairs of glasses. It's not a bad deal. I tried on a few of the test frames, but since I could really see how I looked with them on (my glasses were off and I don't wear contacts) I didn't buy anything. They sell glasses kits, lens clothes, cleaners, etc. here. As well they also have prescription contacts. If you buy lens cleaner from them you can get a free refill when you bring in the bottle.
