Refused to give me my own medical records. They told me they were on the patient portal and they were not. When I told them they were not on the portal their response was because my prescription was expired. I told them yes, I know I have a new appointment elsewhere today and need to bring in my old prescription. The girl who answered the phone had the most attitude for no reason saying they followed the law and handled things the legal way and I had to come in in person to get them. I explained I was not in the area and I asked to speak to someone else. The second person I talked to then offered to just fax my old prescription over to my new doctor. Why wasn't this option given by the first girl? Because she was a raging bitch who was intentionally being unhelpful. This is the second issue I had with this place. I went for an eye injury and they processed my card. Then they started to harass me saying I never paid. I literally watched them swipe my credit card. The doctor also smells like cigarettes. I've been going to Harleysville eye associate since 2021 and my experience has been roller coaster. With my first several pair glasses, I've always had to bring back due to lens not properly made to my prescription and had to get them send in redo under warranty. More recently 2025, they did it again. At the office, vision appeared to fine at first but after a week using at work, I've notice couldn't focus on monitor and during presentation on wall flat monitor. After explaining to them, they said the place that makes lens didn't do good job with correction. So, I've patiently waited another 2 weeks to get my new glasses back. After that fiasco, glasses was perfect but then the frame broke. It was AllFlex listed $130 which my company eye plan covered cost. The hinge decided to slide out one day during normal usage. They replaced it no question ask with one in store. 6 weeks later, I was on vacation and same thing happen frame. End up having to super glue to get me through vacation and then paid them another visit. I was so disappointed and ended up paying additional 110$ for upgrade frame. One thing to note, this place doesn't carry many quality frames, like Lens Crafter and alike. They're small outfit and feel frame cheap and overpriced even with insurance. I don't recommend this place and will look for elsewhere come next year. I think gave them enough tries and chances to improve but don't see it. Don't need headache, prefer my glasses done right first time. I've paid good $$ for service and overpriced frames and not getting quality. Went in for an annual eye exam to take advantage of my insurance knowing nothing was wrong. Staff were nice throughout the process but the doctor wanted to do extra exams. I being 25 and not at a high level of risk for any conditions asked if it would be fully covered by insurance, doctor told me yes. I felt it would be a waste of time, and didn't want to do it, but was told it was fully covered by insurance so decided to come back two other times. Was told everything was fine, shocker. Left that day with no bill, then a few months later, got a $300 bill in the mail specifically for the later visits. Never going back here again. read more

My Mom and I stopped into Harleysville Eye Associates during our errands today because she needed her glasses adjusted/tightened. Based on what I saw I wasn't dissapointed! The associates were very friendly, talkative and efficient with helping my Mom out. All in all, we were in and out in less than 5 minutes!! The interior was very nice too, from the waiting room to the glasses stand. Parking is decent too (it is all single slots across from the building), and luckily you can pull around the back of the building for a exit onto Main Street. I personally don't wear glasses but if I did, I would definitely come back here!! read more

I needed new glasses and a pair of safety glasses that my work gave me a $200 voucher for. My work recommended this place..... what a nightmare this place was. I had to go back 3 different times to have them try to correct both pairs of glasses. Some of the staff was rude. In the end I paid 750$ and a 200$ voucher for a pair of sub-par pair of glasses and a pair of safety glasses I can't even wear because they give me a headache! I gave my eyes plenty of time to try to adjust to them but all I ended up with was bad headaches. They said for another 325$ they could try something else..... I had no faith that they could correct them and figured if they couldn't get it right the first 3 times how would a 4th plus more money be any different. I do plan on contacting my human resources representative and letting them know about my useless safety glasses as well. I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more

This place is always late!! I'm here for post lasik appointments but I will not return once they are completed. I don't mind if the appointment is 5-15mins late but after 15mins is not professional especially when it's a regular occurrence. Look elsewhere unless you have time to kill. read more

Overall great experience...latest technology used for exam and both technician and doctor took the time to explain what they were testing and the results. I had been a patient for about 9 years when my insurance changed. When I made my last appointment I explained the situation and was told it wouldn't be a problem. My primary sent them a referral with the new insurance. I went to the appointment. Several weeks later I found out they billed the wrong insurance and called them to correct the error. I was informed that they don't take my new insurance and insisted that I was at fault for the mistake. Now I have a bill that I can't pay and was removed as a patient. read more

I paid for my eye exam since they said my insurance wasn't going through. I sent my receipt into my insurance company and they paid Harleysville Eye for my full exam. I called Harleysville Eye but they have not reimbursed me for my payment. It's been at least 3 months since I contacted them and I have gotten no response. read more

I found this place on a list provided by my insurance, and being new to the area, I didn't know much better. I made an evening appointment as to not interfere with my work schedule. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my appt time (as I always do). My appt was for 5:30. During the initial paperwork, the woman at the desk tried selling some new service ($40) not covered by insurance, I declined. I completed all new patient paperwork, and waited to be seen. Waiting 30 mins to be seen, and not once provided with any updates ("we're running late...", "you will be seen shortly...", etc). I was taken back to a room where the tech gave me the "pre screening" before the dr. arrives. She was pleasant and helpful. She took my glasses out to "read them" and was gone for quite a while. She returns, gives me my glasses back and lets me know the Dr. will be in shortly. The Dr arrives not long after and completes my exam (or so I thought). She puts drops in my eyes and walks me out of the room... never once mentioning I was not finished, or that I had to wait an additional 20 or so minutes to continue. (Also, I was not informed of this when I made the appt, or I would've made alternate arrangements for transportation.) She tells me to pick out frames while I wait, and I tell her they are not needed. While waiting, two different woman try to sell me glasses. I explain my insurance doesn't cover materials here, and I will need a RX, so I can go elsewhere. They continue trying to sell me glasses. I finish my exam with the Dr, where she also tries to sell me glasses and continues asking me a (what seemed like a million) questions about my insurance. Between all of the waiting, and attempts to sell me a product I've already declined at least 10 times, I left very frustrated. Poor communication between staff and patient. A ton of unnecessary wait time. If someone declines a product you are trying to sell, you might want to stop trying. Needless to say, I will not be returning! read more

If I could give this place less than one star, I would. My daughter and I have been patients here for about six years because of limited insurance choices. We have never been entirely happy, but it has gotten worse over the past few years. This past year we both felt like our glasses were wrong, brought them back twice and both times were told that the prescription was correct. This year we had a change in insurance and were able to choose another Optometrist. Surprise, my glasses were wrong, but my daughters lenses were actually flipped!! The RX for the left was in the right eye and vice versa. When I called to inform them of the error, the lady was very uninterested just said that has never happened before, and she did not believe it but was not willing to look at the glasses and compare them to the RX on file. Don't go here, they will make you vision worse and over charge you in the process! read more

Quick friendly service, easy to make appointments and professional... I see complaints about wait times but we had no wait and the staff was excellent with my 9 year old... it was our first visit with the office so it may take a few more to really give a good rating but as of now we are happy with the service. read more

This doctors office deserves ZERO stars and if I could that's what they would get. Tim and Kellee I agree 100%. I paid $320 for 1 exam and 1 pair of glasses. DO NOT GO HERE! The charged the wrong insurance company... However that happens! They are VERY rude and I have been dealing with this billing issue for a month now. No one can get a hold of them, my insurance company or myself. One top of this they "lost" my glasses and according to Danielle, "I don't even want to begin to know where my glasses were" for the 2 WEEKS they went missing. In 2013 my daughters eyesight was 20/550 she came here and got corrective lenses. In 2014 she got a new prescription from here and lenses and her vision degraded to 20/650... I found out today the lenses they supplied in 2014 were filled in the 2013 prescription! Now vision is 20/800... This doctor takes advantage of his patients. I saw the male doctor for a routine eye exam because I had lost my only pair of glasses. He insisted that my vision could not be corrected with normal lenses, though my old glasses worked perfectly well. When I asked that we re-do some of the steps in the optical exam because I knew my old lenses worked for me, he refused. At the end of the visit I had a bogus prescription for bifocals and appointments for several expensive tests. This doctor is either a con man, or he is someone who would rather hurt his patients than admit that he is wrong. Stay away. read more

I had a pair of expensive frames I brought in to have new lenses installed after my eye exam. This is in November. In January I called and asked where my glasses were. I was informed that the Davis outfit they use to fill lenses in the frames lost them. They offered me $195 credit if I bought a pair of frames from them. Most of their frames are $250 or more and I didn't want to put out more money. They suggested I go online and see if I could find my old frame still available. They do not carry Ann Klein frames. I did and found a new pair on Ebay for $90. I asked they pay me $90 to replace the ones that were lost. They said they could not because the credit is only good for frames they carry. They suggested I call the Davis outfit (very hard to get a hold of) and see what they could do for me. This is just passing the buck and refusing to satisfy the situation. I didn't contract with the Davis Co but with Harleysville Eye Associates. In the end I think it is their full responsibility. Before this situation I felt annoyed that I had to wait an hour to be seen for any appointment I setup. Then the girls giving the test gave inaccurate instructions on the equipment used to examine your eyes. They are poorly trained. This operation is in need of a management overall. I go there because it is convenient to where I live, but I now feel I need to sacrifice convenience of location for competency and credibility. If I could give it no stars I would. I second the comments below. They cannot run a practice. Awful staff, disrespectful, no sense of what they are doing. No appointments are on time. My wife went for annual exam and new prescription since she lost her glasses. They gave her wrong prescription and getting it corrected was like pulling your own teeth out. Took 3 unreturned phone calls and a visit for an "appointment" that the doc wasn't even there for to get everything corrected. DO NOT USE THEM! read more

Extremely obnoxious sales girl at the eye glass counter. Very expensive also. Appointments are never kept on time. Don't plan anything after your appointment time, you probably won't make it.. Forget getting help on the weekend if you have an emergency. They never get back to you if you call on Saturday or Sunday. They don't care. Just go to a hospital. After 15 years of constant frustration I'm now going to another eye care facility. read more

I will NEVER go back to this practice. From the minute we got into the office, they were rude. One of them fought with me about my insurance, the doctor got frustrated when my eyes closed as the one thing came very close to my eye (geeze, sorry that it's a knee-jerk reaction), and then they refused to give me my PD so that I could buy glasses elsewhere (which, by the way, is illegal to do). I was so insanely pissed off when I left their office. I have never, ever had an issue with my previous eye doctor. I only stopped seeing him because he moved. I'm a college student that's working full-time; I can't afford to spend $300 on glasses. That's exactly why I asked for my PD. They kept saying, "We don't do that here," even after I said I knew that they needed it to size glasses. I told them that it was illegal not to give me my full prescription and, as a patient, I have every right to access my own medical record. She still refused! That's when I got so frustrated that I walked out. I would not recommend them to ANYONE. In addition to my issues, there was another customer in there arguing with them while I was waiting to be called into the exam room. If you can, avoid this place at all costs!! They are rude, inconsiderate, and will pull illegal things if you want to get your glasses from anyone but them. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else. read more

Very expensive! $700 for a pair of eyeglasses. When I had second thoughts they would would not cancel the order. The eyeglasses were completed remarkably fast so they couldn't cancel. (in a day) I will find another optometrist and place to purchase eyeglasses. read more
