1. You pump before the final price is known…read more When you swipe/tap your card, the station doesn't know how much gas you'll buy yet. So they place a preauthorization hold for a set amount. 2. It protects against unpaid fuel Without the hold, someone could: * Pump gas * Not have enough funds The hold reduces that risk. 3. It checks your card is valid It confirms: * Your card works * You have available funds/credit What actually happens to your money * The $100 is NOT a real charge * After you finish pumping: * The actual amount replaces it (e.g., $42.17) * The extra hold amount is released How long does the hold last? * Credit cards: usually same day to 1-2 days * Debit cards: can take 1-5 business days (sometimes longer) Debit cards feel worse because it temporarily ties up your cash How to avoid big holds * Pay inside (you can set a specific amount like $30) * Use a credit card instead of debit * Some stations let you preselect an amount on the pump Simple takeaway That $100 hold is just a temporary placeholder, not what you're actually being charged. The cashiers are snarky sometimes and I like that. Sometimes you just don't want 13 Publix employees saying hi and asking how your day was. I bought one biscuit and gravy and the cashier said" that's all you got for me?" Hilarious! The store has gas pumps but the price is never very competitive. The parking lot is kinda janky, the first entrance is a huge hump of concrete and the traffic light takes forever to change during non rush hour. I'll keep coming back as the breakfast sammies are fire!

Shell was $3.04. With my gold Fuel Rewards Network (FRN) card, my price was $2.99, too. The gas dispenses quickly, and the digital screens are easy to navigate. My receipt printed this time, but in the past it's been hit or miss. Of course the receipt is also sent to my email when I use my FRN card so I don't have to have a printed copy. This gas station is a little tricky to get into & out of. It's easy to turn right into it if you are N bound. If you are coming from the South, you need to make a U-Turn on Tampa Road. And when you leave, and you want to head southwest, you either go to the traffic light and make a U turn, or you turn right on Tampa Road, after navigating the shopping center traffic. I have not been inside the convenience story, nor have I used the car wash. But I will continue to get gas here at competitive prices!

Besides the fact that it appears to be a convenience store and serves no gas is one thing. However, I've been in the store multiple times, and they have been out of stock on normal items that you would typically find in any convenience store/market. With the items they do have in stock, they are interchanged with different brands. Why would you stock Mountain Dew brands in between Coca-Cola products? The prices are high, especially considering there are multiple gas stations just a couple minutes away, plus a Walmart that's just down the road. Also, if you use a credit card, they will charge you extra no matter the amount that you pay. Looking back now, I should've just went down the road and spent a few more minutes and saved a lot more money.
