She said her voice was loud because she was deaf. I told her that was besides the point and that she was rude. They are always rude to non white customers. After waiting on the cacasian customer that was in front of me, he walked away and left the couner letting me know that he was not going to serve me. I asked him why and he refused to give me an answer and telling me again in a very racist way to go to another store. He was very nasty. This Circle K is in the same block as University Place shopping mall. It's a small gas station with a convenience store and basic amenities like air for your tires and a vacuum for your car interior (both pay-to-use). The gas station has only eight pumps. Overall, the condition and look of the property was average at best. All of the Purell hand sanitizer dispensers attached to each trash bin were completely out. I used pump #6 and even though the display said my receipt had been printed, it did not. I think it was out of paper. Fortunately, this station is not one of those that requires a picture of your receipt to get the GetUpside money back. It's handled automatically by GetUpside and Circle K. If you've never heard of GetUpside and don't have go-to gas stations (because maybe you travel a lot like me), the app is a no-brainer. I got to the register a few minutes later, with my housemate a good distance back, and the person behind the register told me he could not sell me alcohol unless we both had our ID. Actually, it took him about 30 seconds to tell us this. In the meantime he just stood there, smirking at me. I told him that I was the only one paying (which actually IS the law in NC) and he shrugged and said he didn't feel like selling us alcohol tonight. I asked him why he didn't tell us this when we walked in and heard us talking, and he shrugged again.
