What was once the Sanitorium is now a Shell gas station, and some small buildings behind the gas station. I have been told by a local resident that the houses behind the gas station were houses for attendents at the Sanitorium. She also said that the Sanitorium's main building was located behind the current location of the Shell gas station. As a kid, I had passed by this place several times, and never knew its significance. There is not much to see. There isn't even a historical marker. (I'm sure that in 500 years, just as today we would love to know where the exact death place of Ovid was, people will want to know where Faulkner died.) In the Shell Gas Station, there are some tables, where truckers on Highway 78 can eat a quick lunch of BBQ or fried chicken from the Chester's Fried in the store. It tastes pretty stale. But hopefully, you'll get a chance to sit at the tables there while you silently read Absalom, Absalom! or The Sound and the Fury or The Unvanquished in the Shell gas station called the Byhalia Gas Mart.

Also, both stall doors were broken. Neither of them could lock. After my horrendous experience using the bathroom, it went to go wash my hand. The sink I used was the dirtiest sink I've ever seen. There was dirt and mold all in it. My oh my. Though the gas station was super dirty, getting gas was easy and the snacks were good. Overall, terrible gas station and I do not recommend stopping at it.

I have gone to this gas station a number of times and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of their Mexican food. Today, I went in for some carnitas (shredded pork) and they gave me a plate full of pork fat. Now, I like pork skin when fried and crispy, but this was soggy and greasy. If there were just a few pieces, then that would have been ok too. This plate was 75% soggy, greasy fat. I tried to get an exchange or refund, and instead of having a customer-service mindset, the worker started arguing with me that this is how they make carnitas. Now, I am not Mexican, but have frequented many Mexican establishments, and I have never gotten so much fat in a carnitas plate. The food was inedible. I think the worst part is that I am a regular customer of this establishment, I have never had an issue in the past nor have I tried returning anything, and the one time I do have a problem, I am given a hard time.

He was very detailed as well as patient while assisting me in parking for them to retrieve my vehicle efficientl. He even went to the extent of locating and directing me to said gas station. (all the turns to make ) I was assured that this company would have no problem coming to alabama to pick up my car. The owner also referred me to a good mechanic who would be able to help me with issues i was having with my car once my car was retrieved. I can say these were very nice people, on top of being very affordable. They will do everything to make sure that you are taken care of!

This store is so mismanaged! They only have one employee who works that is constantly at work and…read moreprofessional! The employee that is supposed to work the night shift is never on time and the poor girl from second shift never gets off on time! The 3rd shifter closes during the night and sleeps! You go there after work to get a drink and something to eat and the doors are locked! I went by there tonight and the poor girl is still working! She's been there since 11:30 am and on top of it she has MS! So sad!
