This was the best decision of our cruise. Jose' led us on a tour of the real Lisbon. A former school teacher the tour involved culture, history and great food recommendations. It truly was the highlight of our vacation. If you want to actually see the city, learn its history and experience a little of its actual culture, book this tour. If you have a larger group (ours was 8) you can book a private tour by pre-paying a tip and have the incredible experience we had. Jose' will customize the tour to your interests and physical ability. Be aware Lisbon is very hilly. Our tour involved climbing both of the major hills in the city. I was thankful there was not a third hill.

An absolute must if you come to Lisbon!!!…read more This review is way overdue but we had the best time, and learned so much about the city on this tour. Our guide was the head honcho of this operation, and gave us a true "locals" insight on the lay of the land. Unlike some tours, each Chill Out Lisbon is different, as they prioritize catering to each specific audience. Before you step out on your FREE tour, they'll ask questions to see what you really want to see and learn about the city. How awesome is that. We saw several of the main landmarks, but even more of the "roots" of Lisbon. My favorite parts being the Alfama district, and the grand finale. I won't spoil the grand finale but I'll say it's most definitely worth staying to the end. Thanks to our wonderful guide, I believe their name was Jose, but pardon me if I am mistaken. If you can, please tip your lovely guide; they will most likely let you know they are open to receiving tips.

We booked the small group walking tour on our first morning in Lisbon so that we could get a better understanding of the city and the culture and the history. We were incredibly impressed by Daniel Ribeiro who was our tour guide. His knowledge was really impressive and we learned so much on our three hour plus tour. He took his time and seemed to really enjoy showing us all the city. And best of all, he gave us some fantastic recommendations that we used a lot for the rest of our trip. Next we wanted to explore Sintra and get out of the city for a day. So we also signed up for the day trip to Sintra and Cascais. This was a great way to get to see Sintra and Cascais with an additional stop to see the most western part of Europe. The day itself was a little cloudy but it was April in Portugal. The palace was still incredible and what made it so great was our guide Andres. Unlike more tours where they drop you off and say meet you back in an h our, Andres actually acts as your tour guide through the palace and his knowledge was just so helpful in making us understand the history of it all. It was very appreciated. At the meeting place at the start of the day, there were so many people going on this tour, but we were split up into much smaller groups of like 6 people and each assigned a tour guide. It was all very well organized.

It was fascinating to learn about the history and the walk gives you everything you need to know for a great trip in Lisbon!

Wild Walkers offers daily walking tours of Lisbon to acclimate tourists to the city and provide them with insider knowledge of their surroundings. The tour has no set price; you just pay what you want at the end of the tour. I took the Wild Walkers' free walking tour on my second day in Lisbon. My tour was led by Nicole, a knowledgeable tour guide with the gift for gab. Nicole led the group on a trek around Lisbon, making frequent stops to point out important landmarks and to provide the group with a history lesson. Nicole was very knowledgeable about Lisbon; however, she often went on ad nauseam about a topic which caused the tour to drag. Highlights of the tour included visiting a miradouro to enjoy a great view of the city, taking a stroll along the Ribeira das Naus, and learning about the Cais do Sodré area. Nicole offered useful tips on things to do in Lisbon and Sintra and tourist traps to avoid. The tour lasted three hours (a half hour longer than the normal time) and took us around the Baixa, Chiado, and Bairro Alto neighborhoods. I got a solid introduction to Lisbon and more history than I'll ever remember.
