Disappointing rental for 3 of us and lesson for a teenager. Poorly maintained equipment and an unwillingness to adjust it. As was explained to me, what could I expect for training equipment? What's the point of coming here when the arrows can't hit a wall anywhere at 20 yards? We were visiting from out of state, and at home I can hit the bullseye at 30 and 40 yards with my own bow. I honestly think they would be glad if we never came back again. And I will gladly oblige them. read more

Awesome shop. Eugene was incredibly helpful and worked with me to sight in my bow and gave me lots of pointers. The staff has a love for the sport which resonates in everything they do. This place has all the equipment you need for bowhunting and target shooting + a wide array of equipment and apparel. The Archery lanes are well maintained and they have 10 an 20 yard distances. The staff here is incredibly rude and not helpful AT ALL. I went here looking for a certain type of broadhead and after standing in front of the owner for about 10 minutes while he was on the phone having a conversation about something that was certainly not business related, I was treated as if I was clueless about what I was looking for. If you have any questions about anything involving archery or are looking to get into the sport do NOT go here. I will continue to go to Flying Arrow in Carmel. At least there the workers are helpful and kind and actually care about what they're doing. read more

Saw this open up near us, seemed like a fun activity for five of us friends. Called in to make a reservation, just to be met with the rudest/uncompromising Manager. 1. Their website advertised "a one-on-one lesson for 30 mins at $35". I asked him if he could do a better rate if there was five people in the party looking for a lesson for the first time. The manager would not change his pricing of $35 per person even though it's a group lesson(we'd be paying $175 for the same 30 minute lesson)!!! 2. Okay, than after this exchange, I requested if we could shoot arrows in their range to which the manager responded "only the qualified people from the lesson can shoot, and this will cost another $25 per person per hour" -------------------------------------------------------- Money hungry, pig-headed, rude manager/owner Instead of trying to rip-off first time clients, maybe be more accommodating? read more

I don't understand the negative reviews with the customer service. Maybe you got them confused with Targeteers. I stopped in on a wing and prayer for of all things, a screw for my quiver that had become loose and lost. I was told by Targeteers (where I actually purchased my bow) that they couldn't order one (despite Hoyt saying it was their responsibility), and by Hoyt that they wouldn't send one. After these two piss-poor customer service experiences, I was overjoyed when I stopped into Extreme Archery, explained my dilemma, and within 30 seconds, had the screw in hand. A+ customer service and personalities in my book. I live in NJ in closer proximity to Targeteers, but will undoubtedly be going to Extreme Archery in the future due to the completely different customer service experiences. read more

If you are getting into archery (like we were) avoid this place. We went to inquire about the archery range and when I asked if they had an archery range that we were able to use the man said, "I don't know. Can you?" He was rude right up front stating that if we never shot a bow before he wasn't ..."going to put a weapon in the hand of someone with no experience". I agree but he was rude and stand-offish. The phone rang at that moment and he was on the phone for about 5 minutes without excusing himself. From the conversation. I was able to hear he was on the phone with a friend. When others walked in he finally got off the phone. When I asked about lessons he replied "NOT TODAY" and nothing else..... I kept asking and he informed me I need to call a few days ahead to make reservations. I was so surprised art how cold and stand-offish he was. If they are trying to alienate new customers he did a great job. I hope it was just a bad day for him....but I doubt it since he was warm and friendly with hunters that came in. read more

Great store. Very knowledgable and friendly staff. They taught me a lot about shooting form and about the importance of properly tuned and matched equipment. They had a tom of stock for all the products I wanted including clothes, knives, packs, bow equipment, and other accesories. There was plenty of inventory to try out different things and choose the ones I liked best. They also tuned up my bow and changed some things around to make everything dialed to spec and my shot increased tremendously. Turns out some of my equipment was off and it wasnt just me not being the best of shots. Great place. I highly reccomend it to serious hunters and sportsman in the area. read more

Let me begin by saying that Dave was always the person at extreme I went to for repairs, purchases and accessories spending a couple thousand. However upon entering the shop today to have some repairs done to my bow 9/16 I came upon a big for better words, rude not very nice guy. I asked about Dave and it seemed as if that annoyed him. He reponded to my questions having to ask well will he be in later NO! will he be in tomorrow NO ! finally my wife picking up on his rudeness said okay so he no longer works here is what your saying NO HE DOESN'T WORK HERE! This is the best archery shop in the NY metro area. Hands down. Their customer service is great. They spent 30-50min with me as I tried all kinds of bows and shot them all. They discussed all the kinds of bows and what features distinguished them. Eventually I settled on a bow that I didn't even think I wanted, but it shot so well I decided that I wanted it. It also shot at a blazing 350fps! Its like I'm shooting a crossbow! The range is excellent. The range has movable bale targets and sold ones on the back wall. The range is 20 yards long. Make sure you bring an arrow puller, the foam is pretty tough. They have all sorts of hunting products, bait, trail cams, tree stands, blinds, bug repellent, long johns, and they have the cool heat suit which is like a giant camo sleeping bag for your tree stand that will keep you warm no matter how cold it is. They sell hunting licenses and give hunter ed classes sometimes. read more

Words can't begin to explain how good this place is. I love the staff, the selection of merchandise they have and the indoor range they have. I took my bow to have a peep sight installed and they did it in minutes and the work look very professional for a decent price. I only had $90 bucks in my pocket the day i went to extreme archery to install my peep sight and i was charged $15 to do the work $25 total so i got me a high speed archery target and some other stuff in total i spent $85 and not to mention i paid to use the range. i walked away with a lot of stuff for what i paid. I shopped all over the Fairfield/Westchester area for a new bow. Given the overall quality of equipment these days, I was equally focused on picking a shop to work with. The staff at Extreme Archery, Vinny in particular, took the time to review the options (they have the widest selection of any store I visited), let me try several bows, and then placed a custom order for me. When the bow came in, no less than three staff worked with me to set it up, tune it, and review the features. I am happy. Great (Obsession) bow, great service. Let me also address the comments on the "vibe". These guys are selling lethal weapons, often to people that are new to archery or (just maybe!) exaggerating their experience. It ain't a store for yoga outfits-- they are going to be a little skeptical. Be honest about what you want, work with the staff, and you'll be happy. Perhaps if the store makes you uncomfortable, shooting a deer from a a high tree stand in freezing weather won't make you comfortable either... I highly recommend Extreme Archery if you are in the market for a bow in this region. read more

TL;DR: Eugene is awesome and I walked out super happy with a full beginner's archery package at a great price. I had a great experience at extreme archery. As soon as my husband and I walk in the door, we are greeted by Eugene and asked if we needed help. I stated boldly that I wanted to learn archery and had very little idea of where to start. He didnt try to upsell some big fancy expensive deal, he offered private lessons at $35 for 30min. I declined and said I wanted to get my own set and learn from there. "No problem," he said. He brought me up to the counter and did a dominant eye test and determined I was lefty, even though I'm mostly right-handed. He indulged me and let me try shooting from both sides and HE WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. I shot three arrows within inches of each other lefty, and spazzed out twice and hit the ceiling as righty. He coached me a little on saftey, stance, and technique. Also he didn't judge me for my pink hair or for picking out the pretty purple arrows with the red feathers. Long story short, he spent nearly an hour answering all of our annoying and endless questions and showed us how to use everything. We walked out very happy and we are headed out to an outdoor range right now on this beautiful day thanks to Eugene and Extreme Archery. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. This pro archery shop has a nice indoor archery lane setup, and a good place to take your son/daughter/girlfriend/wife to take their bow hunting license, but that's about it. HOWEVER, the little short tan guy behind the counter (I think his name is Vinny) is a very rude disrespectful person. Don't even think about walking into this place if you don't own a Hoyt, because they will treat you like a peasant. You can't have a decent conversation with the guy because he's so thick headed and stubborn, and a know-it-all. If I could give 0 stars I would. The guys who work here are ok, they always try their best to help and give advice. The shop itself is okay not a crazy selection but it will work. The real problem with the store is the owner, this grumpy little guy with a Napoleon complex. He usually sits in the back. Never has anything good to say. He likes to think he knows everything and loves to make people feel bad about not having expensive hoyt, or pse bows. ( Don't get me wrong they're amazing bows, but not everyone can afford one ). I wouldn't give this guy any of my money. If youre looking for a good shop with nice helpful people I've started using flying arrow in carmel ny. The place is huge and packed with gear. I am new to archery and was told that Extreme Archery would be the place to go to get a bow and all of my supplies. The man behind the counter couldn't have been less helpful and borderline rude; didn't show me anything, didn't ask me any questions, basically just pointed a finger to go look "there". My kids want to get into the sport, but I remember checking out the place not long after they opened thinking I might try it. I'm sure I ran into the same guy as Lisa, Tasha and Mike. He couldn't care less when I told him I want to get into the sport. All I got was a look like, 'What are bothering me for?' I was the only customer in the frickin place!! He didn't make any effort at all to even point me to a section. Couple that with a nasty look and I'll tell you where he can stick those arrows. Don't know how they're still in business when they obviously going out of their way to turn away customers. I'll figure out something else for my kids to do. read more

I made a bonehead move last Saturday afternoon and dry fired my Mathews bow. Before the tears could well up in my eyes, bow string dangling, I was directed to Extreme Archery. I was given an estimate which was fair and left my bow, holding my breath that the damage wasn't too extensive. Now, instead of getting a call talking about "after further investigation, your bow is totally screwed", I was pleased to learn that that the cost would be half of the estimate. The turnaround was ridiculous. And by ridiculous I mean fantastic. Dropped the bow off on Saturday, it was ready Tuesday evening. I know that's not always going to be the case but I know where to go the next time I need a random accessory, bow service or some time on a range. I almost forgot to mention the best part... Yes maybe they can be rough around the edges but it's a hunting store and we are in New York, I mean aren't "we all a bIt high strung"? This place is terrific. Neither my kids or I had ever shot a bow before, and we walked into the store not knowing what to expect. We were welcomed, and given extensive free instruction with equipment they provided. There was absolutely no pressure to purchase anything. When we did decide to buy a bow and accessories, several alternatives, in various price ranges were suggested. We now go back to use the range when the weather isn't great, and every visit is as good as the first. read more
