The manager called from his personal number to yell about how it's our fault for storing old bins. Yet the facilities reviews showed this rat problem dates back to 2020. Notice later that they have rat traps in the units due to how bad it is. We should have read reviews sooner if only we had the time now everything is ruined and they won't help clean, compensate anything.

I was only $22 over my budget. I was happy to tip them so they could buy themselves a sub and a beer for a job. Well done. Short Version: Broke tons of stuff. Quoted $800, showed up and said that it shouldn't take too…read morelong. Billed $1400. Not even remotely competent Longer Version: Talked to Curtis. He seemed great and he gave what I thought was a fair quote. We were moving a basement suite and had 40-50 boxes and few other large items (dresser, wardrobe etc.) They showed up early, seemed courteous and professional. Assessed the situation and said that everything looked good. We had everything in boxes, labelled and organized. They said 2 hours to get it out at the most. Then things went downhill...fast. The two workers started arguing that about whether they should bring another guy to help. The one said they shouldn't but eventually they asked me if they should. I let them know it was fine because I like to trust people to do a good job. They said it wouldn't be more expensive because although I have to pay for each person, they would be more efficient. Reasonable. Noon rolls around and they're still not packed. Remember they said 2 hours tops then brought in another guy to help. So, it should be way under 2 hours, but we are at 4+. I started to notice that the new guy they brought has been on his phone most of the time. Seems like he's putting out fires things for Low Budget Moving. Fair enough, but not really something I want to pay for. The other guys don't really seem to be moving boxes and working hard when I see them in my suite, but when I go up, then their just chatting and doing nothing. I think this was the chief the reason that 2 hours for 2 people became 5 hours for 3 people. That is on the cost side of things, but that's not all. When they showed up they said they would insure only solid wood furniture to be moved without damage. They didn't want to insure cheap IKEA furniture or already packed boxes. That seems fair to me. They broke 2 solid wood pieces of furniture. Replaced none and offered no compensation. One table they admitted to breaking. They just fell on it and broke it. Admitted it and did nothing. The China cabinet they refused to admit they broke but kind of in the same way that a child with chocolate on their face rufuses to admin they are responsible for the missing chocolate. They took some parts of the cabinet and said they'd look into replacing it, but then ghosted me. Lastly, they just sucked at moving. I have a hundred stories from the day but the one that illustrates it best is this. We asked them to move a wardrobe into a corner that they had placed in the middle of the room. It need to be moved about 2 meters. They were struggling to move it, crawling around on their knees, pushing it then putting it down, then and trying to figure out how to move it. Eventually after my wife and watching for a while, we just moved it. It took about 15 seconds for us (minus the few minutes of watching them struggle to do their job). We aren't strong, just healthy 30-year-olds who aren't getting paid by the hour. All in all they were just not competent at the basic task, did not actually work, and broke or damaged a lot of items. Try someone else. Literally any one.

Big steel box is terrible. They are trying to seize a sea can which we bought privately because…read morethey said it was stolen by the person who sold it to us. I understand their side and offered compromise... ie splitting the cost of the can because we never knew, and because they left the non paid sea can on site with a customer who never paid their bill for 4 months! They pretty much spit in my face saying they would offer me $200 off the new price of the sea can. They are threatening a police escort to pick up the container. Also to add, the only reason they know we have the can is because we called them to order a matching can to twin it beside ours. We gave them the info on the door and they notified us it was on lease to another customer. We were shocked and asked what they would do about it. They said they would look into finding their customer who sold the can to us, and get money from him. We said ok an ended up BUYING A SECOND CAN FROM BIG STEEL BOX because we felt that they would work with us on this issue. Come on big steel box, you are a big company beating up on good people who paid for a container privately. We did not know it was stolen!!! Learn to compromise and make people happy instead of counting your money!!!!
