I was pleasantly surprised when I visited Ocean Storage. I was expecting a seedy, poorly lit building with many people hanging around. However, it is modern and located right off of 17. You can only open the sliding doors with a code, and there are dollys in the entryway if needed. The elevator is big enough to accommodate a large bed or mattress. There are many units still available for rent, and they come in multiple sizes. On top of great service, they also are giving half off for the first three months. My parents are picky about where they will leave their items, but they have nothing but positive things to say about Ocean Storage!

They have had many, many, many instances of burglary, mine just happened in March of 2023. They took an entire day to notify me as well, and when they did, they did it 20 min before closing so when I said I could come there, the girl complained that she leaves for the day in 20 min. The rest of the buglaries I found out about because the responding police officer said 'you would think they would've learned to put up cameras by now, we were just here not too long ago. I did a FOIA request and saw all the police reports for the many times customers have been robbed out of this facility. Trust me, Kristina and John are not the people you want by your side when something like this happens. They play dumb at every turn, John (Regional Manager) is one of the biggest manipulator/gaslighters I've come across in a long time. I asked for a phone call when I was waiting for the police to respond in March...he called me back three months later, but only because I called the call center many times asking for him to call me...he badly faked empathy and I caught him in a bunch of lies on the phone call I had with him. The facility is not in a good part of town, save yourself the trouble and do not rent here, Again, this storage facility is not 'small' or 'local', it was bought up by one of those companies that buys small business across the country, they try to put out the image that they are a small business but when you call, and get routed to the call center, they only take messages and never transfer you because 'they manage a lot of storage facilities and don't know which one you are talking about'

Originally from Hampton Roads, we have moved several times for work reasons over the past decade. Along the way, we've met and dealt with a lot of vendors. It's such a breath of fresh air to find commercial/business folks who not only do good work but also are good people. You don't have to worry about them. You know you're in good hands. You can trust them. Tony and co. here at Morningstar are just such folks. He didn't simply do the job and take care of the paperwork, the facilities, etc. He cared about us as people and our situation. He was prompt in returning messages, whether voice or email. He thoroughly paid attention to details. When a discrepancy arose with the facility from normal wear-and-tear, he remediated it immediately. He even went out of his way sometimes in that "thinking ahead before we had to think about it" manner to ensure our experience was top-notch. He clearly prides himself on both providing a good business and being a good "businessman." On the happenstance that we bumped into his wife one day while passing through the complex, we bragged on him to her. Good people. And so, by the time we were out of the woods of needing local storage and went to "close out," Tony had become, frankly, kind of like family to us. So very much appreciated, especially in times like these. All of which is to say, we recommend him/his facility with the highest regard. Knowing how many transient people--military, etc.--that we have in this area, we hope that those needing such storage find the same "home" for their things...including peace of mind...here at the Hampton Morningstar.

Well, moving day comes, and guess what -- only 2 guys show up. Jennifer called, said 2 employee were in overtime and they couldn't pay them to work and another one called in sick. The difference in cost between 2 and 3 helpers was a whopping $20 -- but because there were only 2 movers, the job dragged on for 9.75 HOURS, and I ended up paying over $2,000 (with tip) for a move that was literally 12 minutes down the street. When I called out the obvious bait-and-switch, Jennifer couldn't have cared less. Her exact response: "We appreciate all feedback. I'll share with our manager. Thank you." That's it. No apology. No accountability. Just a robotic response like this is business as usual -- which, honestly, it probably is. It's clear how they operate: They lowball you to get your booking, then change the plan at the last minute, knowing you're stuck on moving day. Classic scam playbook. The two movers themselves were great guys -- hardworking, respectful, and honestly deserve to start their own company because this one is a total joke. Do not fall for their fake "friendly" quotes.
