With Dependable Storage, we really got so much more than our low trifecta of expectations. 1 - Super easy to get to from Uptown. 2 - Incredibly clean. This part of Dependable Storage probably had only been open a few months when we moved in, but it really is incredibly clean. No musty smells, no smells at all really! 3 - Access to 3+ carts at all times! I've never had an issue getting a cart. 4 - Hospital-size elevators (yes we might've used 3 carts on move-in day and they all fit!) 5 - Use of a moving truck the day of move-in. Seriously a life and budget saver since it was in the middle of the summer. 6 - Not 1, not 2, not 3...okay okay 12 AIR CONDITIONING UNITS attached to our building. I am no sweaty betty leaving this place. Love me some AC. 7 - The friendliest staff. Branden is always around, and offers bottled water. 8 - Easy parking access to our space, and close to the elevators. We've never felt weird or unsafe coming to the unit. 9 - No problems whatsoever with other tenants or any creepy crawlers of any kind. ( I know that sounds weird, but check out my other storage unit review) 10 - This space was CHEAPER than my unit at another storage facility by a good bit and a much better deal in terms of all the above! We are incredibly happy with our new storage unit space, and totally recommend folks with a whole lot of crap to store it here!

Looking back, it appears that they took the equipment off the truck and then officially checked in my truck as "returned" over 4 hours after I actually returned it. When speaking with corporate customer service, they advised the only way to avoid this and to cover my *** is to use self-check in and out on their nonworking website. According to uhaul themselves, their employees can't be trusted. Awesome. They charged me $168 today for "missing equipment" but will not refund me today because the manager is out. They let you submit photos of the truck before you take it out but not when you get back. They won't do a walkthrough with you to confirm equipment return so there's no way to prove that you returned the equipment. I feel like someone is trying to steal from me. Hopefully I get my refund tomorrow as promised. UPDATE: did not get a refund because whoever I talked to yesterday lied when they said a manager would be in today, because apparently managers do not come in on Sundays. So I have to call again for Ms. Shay tomorrow, because nobody left a note, they just blew me off. The guy who stands around with the hat on not behind the counter is angry all the time for no reason. He expects you to know how everything works without anybody telling you. I waited in line at the counter to check in because the Uhaul app doesn't work. DO NOT attempt to rent a truck outside of office hours, it will not work. First, the app couldn't find my reservation. Then when it did, it wouldn't load the next page. Then, when it did, it wouldn't let me access my phones camera to take the required photos. When I got to the counter the lady gently reminded me, you know you can check in on the app right? No ma'am, I cannot. There weren't enough staff earlier in the morning so there was a bit of a line and when we got to the counter they were trying to help 3 people at once instead of just focusing on who ever was at the counter and it wasn't working out great. I don't recommend you rent here, but If you rent from here, please allot 30 minutes for pickup.

Moving furniture, appliances and boxes filled with memories from New Orleans to Baton Rouge and Houston. Overall a very good experience at this U-Haul at Tulane. Reserved a trailer and pads. They were so helpful, but forgot the pads. We called to let them know. They added that to our rental agreement. Not sure of the drop off location. The one they assigned to us in Houston was actually a thirty minute drive from our home, so we asked them to leave the return address blank when we rented the trailer (which they did). No issues until the return. They gave us a hard time about the missing pads and the drop off location. Wanted to charge us extra, even though we paid for services that we did not receive. Sorted it out, sort of, eventually. Still, a good experience moving from point A to B to C.

So, from 6pm-9pm, no working elevators to load your belongings. I have not been able to get a representative on the phone since ordering the storage unit. Really needed a spot to house my belongings between moves, and *thought* Public Storage would fill…read morethe bill. Had I realized all of this location's shortcomings prior to opening my account, I would have searched elsewhere! Climate controlled? Really? Your unit is anything but protected from the elements. Even when the A/C *is* running, the humidity is quite high indoors, and the vents (in the doorway) and multiple openings (along the interior walls) let the outside environment in whenever someone has their first-floor garage door open. Cover all your stuff because there WILL BE RAT DROPPINGS ALL OVER IT the next time you visit. Document everything, if you wish to file a complaint, and file it with corporate, not just the facility employees (see below). Aside from the visibly indifferent on-site staff (who are either overworked, underpaid, or just plain don't give a sh*t), the level of upkeep inside and outside their buildings leaves much to be desired. Did I mention that an old man essentially lives in an upstairs unit of Building B? Calls himself Gary Cooper. Will follow you around as you try to move items in/out of your own unit. Shaves and brushes his teeth at the end of the hallway. Stores his crap (perhaps literally) in the hallway with all of his worldly possessions so you cannot get around him. Futzes with the elevator so that it is NEVER operational when you try to use it. Leaves the security door OPEN every time I come up the stairs. Never wears a face covering, but sure wants to know your name and shake your hand. The only things that work reliably at the South Carrollton Avenue location are (a) the front gate, and (b) the AutoPay billing option. No refunds allowed, even if you were prevented (see previous paragraph) from vacating the month before. Wait your turn at the locked office door with any questions, and don't expect anyone to return your messages left via the mobile app. Did I mention you can enter/exit the premises freely just by rolling under the chain link fence that blows in the wind? Why have access codes and apps when anyone can come and go as they please? (He asked, sarcastically.) I kinda feel sorry for anyone with no alternative but to rent storage space here, and if they do, I hope it's pest-proof and nothing that truly needs "climate control". See photos herein for corroboration of what I've described before I warn, "Let the renter beware!"
