Plus, you get a warm fuzzy feeling from not having to buy or collect cardboard boxes for weeks and then throw them in a dumpster when you finally unpack. I called the uhaul office and after putting me on hold for ten minutes they told me that they had known about the broken door and rented me the van anyways (because fuck me, I guess). The couch I was purchasing on craigslist wouldn't rotate through the side door and wouldn't fit through the back with only one door functional, so I couldn't buy it, basically rented the van for nothing. Was this a typical experience? Probably not. Should I have been more careful checking everything before I left? Probably yes. But I wasted ~$50 plus gas renting a van for no reason, because of a problem the office knew about and didn't bother mentioning.

When I first contacted Efficient Moving, I was told that my moving charge would be $180 per hour…read morewith one truck. I then had one of their representatives, at their suggestion, come to my condo to see what and how much I had to move. When the Efficient Moving man came to my condo, I was encouraged to do a "per item" moving cost basis and was told "it would turn out cheaper" than a per hour basis. The man told me that typical totes/boxes were like $3 each to move and he would take an inventory of the furniture, etc. back to the office and give me a quote. When I got the quote, the totes/boxes were $4 each. Plus there was a $200 "Trip Charges" which was not mentioned to me before. They would not disclose what the individual furniture pieces cost to move as that was "proprietary information" so I had no idea how much more a big piece of furniture cost than a smaller piece. I didn't like the whole situation but the move was looming and I felt overwhelmed so I chose to continue with Efficient Moving vs finding another mover. On moving day, three nice gentleman showed up and it took them 3 1/2 hours to complete the move, working at what I would call a normal pace. The total charge was $832.50 or $237 per hour, considerably more than the $180 initially quoted me. It also took the mover an additional half hour to figure out the bill because of their complicated system.

The representative said they would contact the crew and that the movers would arrive within 20 minutes. Another hour passed--still nothing. We kept calling because they never called us back, and every time we called, we were told a different story. One moment the crew was "on the way," the next they "couldn't reach them," then suddenly our schedule had been changed without informing us. It was excuse after excuse. On another call, they said the driver would reach out to us directly. Another hour passed with no call. At 3:47 PM, we were told yet again that we were scheduled for the afternoon--but they never bothered to notify us at any point. We were always the ones chasing them. On our last call, we asked to speak to a manager and even confirmed if a manager was available. They said yes and attempted to transfer us, but instead they left us on hold for 30 minutes, and no one ever came on the line. They wasted our entire day and completely ruined our schedule, especially because we have major renovations starting and needed everything moved before the crew arrived tomorrow. I will never do business with this company again. They are unprofessional, unreliable, and totally disrespectful of people's time. If you come across this company, run as fast as you can.
