Where to start? I have been going to EA for almost 20 years. Unfortunately, things have really gone downhill there... appointments cancelled last minute, double-booked providers, botched permanent make-up and more. This used to be a wonderful business until Becky left. Today they called me to cancel my appointment for tomorrow due to an administrative error. I needed this service done asap because I had out-of-country guests arriving in a few days and needed time for swelling/bruising to settle. I told their employee this, thinking they would try to accommodate me somehow. I told her I've had a lot of issues with appointments and service the past few years and it was becoming unacceptable. She was unconcerned. I said she should cancel both of my upcoming appointments, and I think I will need to go elsewhere in future if this is the best they can do. She said Ok - she would cancel the appts, and clearly intended on doing nothing further and content with losing a customer. I told her I was shocked that she was willing to lose a long-term customer so easily and would make no effort to fix the situation. She offered no solution other than rescheduling. The employee finally said she would have someone in management contact me. I received a call from a rather condescending young guy who said he was the owner (I'm assuming he's one of the original owners' kids since he had the nepo baby attitude and no clue about how to deal with problems). I tried to tell him what had transpired but wasn't given much opportunity to do so. He only wanted to talk at me with a preconceived perception of what happened, and not to listen. I told him that I've been on the receiving end of several mistakes there and that I was at the point of going elsewhere. His response?... "It's probably best that we part ways"! I was stunned. At this point I started to wonder what his employee had told him about the original call a few minutes earlier. I wondered if perhaps the reason for his attitude was because the employee gave him an inaccurate depiction of our earlier conversation. Was she afraid she'd be in trouble for handling the situation badly, so tried to make it sound as though I had been abusive? I suggested to him that if they record their calls he should listen to the earlier call and find out what actually transpired, I had calmly and clearly indicated my unhappiness to the employee but there was no abuse, no swearing and no yelling during the call. He said that his employee was crying because she was so upset (funny she wasn't upset in the least when I spoke to her). I told him this and his response was that he thought I was now raising my voice. I wasn't. It was my normal voice and I assured him of that. At this point it seemed as though he was just trying to provoke me. It was simply unbelievable. I hung up as there was no point in any further dealings with an individual who treats customers so disrespectfully and offensively. I can honestly say that I've never in my life been treated so badly by anyone representing a business. When lousy service was brought to their attention, I was falsely accused of abusive behaviour and insulted... with no proof. Funny, in almost 20 years of going there, I had never had an issue with any staff at EA. Even when they made mistakes, we always had pleasant dealings. If they aren't recording calls, they should start doing so immediately to avoid insulting and alienating customers. When you start falsely accusing longstanding customers of bad behaviour you have a serious problem with your business. This was glaringly apparent from my conversation with Junior. Came to the Edmonton location to see Dr. Briggs yesterday for Migraine Botox injections after receiving approval through my insurance. I had done the consult process at the St. Albert location. Both locations are bright and beautiful. There is plenty of parking as it's in the same parking lot location as Subway, Calder Library, and H & W. The whole procedure took less than 5 minutes and I felt very comfortable with Dr. Briggs. The previous consult session had been approximately 20 minutes. Hopefully this treatment will decrease my daily headaches and migraines but so far so good. A bit of a stiff neck this AM but no other concerns. The treatment itself was 31 needle injections and felt like small pin pricks. If you've been suffering from daily headaches and or migraines, I would definitely recommend a free consultation to find out if Botox could help you. read more

External Affairs - it's not a government building (like my grandmother thought). This place is a classy Medical Spa! From a simple brow wax to laser skin treatments, EA has it all. It's really convenient to have all your beauty stops all in one beautifully decorated building! I haven't personally tried any medical procedures but I've had manicures, pedicures, brow waxes, massages, gel nails and hair done here. All of these things I've been really happy with and are always done very professionally. The prices aren't too shabby either. One thing I really love is that the entire salon is stylishly decorated with antique furniture. The nice warm color scheme they use of gold and red is really relaxing. Complimentary cappuccinos, lattes and treats are always offered if you have to wait for your appointment. EA also offers and sells their own brand of nail polishes, beauty creams, vitamins and many other wellness products. I really adore this place and I've gotten many a friend to fall in love with EA too. If you decide and try this place, I guarantee you won't regret it! read more

I had gone to this clinic in Edmonton 2 years ago for a left nasolabial fold that was starting to form. It was my first time getting filler. I asked the nurse Shelley to fill the fold. Instead she put filler in front of the fold and said this looks better. I did not understand why she put filler in that spot but I trusted this woman and I thought she had my best interest. Fast forward, I thought the filler would dissolve instead it made a VERY PRONOUNCED fold on my left side. I realized this filler is making the fold worse and I had the filler dissolved. Now every time I look in the mirror I am reminded of this woman who portrayed herself to be kind but turned out to be malicious. I expect that woman to receive her karma in due time. LADIES, they will gladly take your money but they also will know how to make you look awful over the long term if there is a hint of jealously. I am so choked that this happened. Giving this place one star as they pushed a product on me that I had a reaction to and so I emailed their "customer service" and the lady was opposite of helpful. Asked me to come in and get tested to see if I was truly allergic to the serum. 1) Why would I lie about that? 2) Why would I waste more time to come in and have someone apply MORE serum to me and make it worse? The lady in the email straight up said she wanted to test to see if the reaction was true (her name was Jamie Smith, GM). I think that in the very least, she could have worded it like a professional, not a skeptic. In the end, I just went back to the location and asked to return it. The ladies at the desk were VERY pleasant and took the product back and applied a credit to my account. I completed an online and in person injection course and did a mentorship at External Affairs with Becky. She is a phenomenal practitioner and their clinic was very professional and well run. I was able to follow her and her staff for several days and view how they work, and was very happy to see how well trained and educated they are in their specific areas. This includes injectors and skin rejuvenation. I learned so much and am happy to see how they work to provide the clients with what they want on their budget. I was here for a signature facial with Carrie. It was amazing! Very professional and relaxing. I loved the hand massage. My skin felt great afterwards. She suggested some products to me that would be most beneficial and I really appreciated that. I have used External Affairs products in the past and have never been let down. You really do get what you pay for with skin care and medical grade skin care is 100% WORTH IT! I have seen Diana for some of my laser hair removal treatments and always have a great time with her, the conversation is always hilarious and she makes me feel so comfortable. Nurse Joelle does my injections and I can't say enough good things about her! She really turns my frown upside down! The front staff girls are soooo friendly and are always willing to help in any way possible! I love chatting with them when I book my appointments and coming in pre/post treatment. Unbelievably Horrible Experience BEWARE of any dealings with "Dr" Briggs. Before anyone reads further, please be aware I have been a client of the clinic for awhile now. The service I have received from the ladies has been amazing, botox, facials etc - Def give them a go they are great. Anything with Briggs I would hope you take this into account and look elsewhere - I would not allow this man to touch me ever. His conduct is disgraceful, dishonorable and uprofessional IMO. - My spouse and I both have migraines and we were both seeking treatment with Botox. -He kept claiming our migraines may not be real -After he asked questions and determined we were both in a gay male/male relationship his followup question to that was "Are you immunodeficient?" I guess because all the homos in the city walk around with HIV just spreading disease? I was highly offended but have become accustom to these homophobic questions in life and all previous experiences with the clinic were positive so I decided to drop it, after all he was the only "Dr" avail to consult -After both of us had our back to back appointments he made another comment that it was extremely rare for males to have migraines and to have two males in the same relationship with migraines would be unheard of. We saw him around the beginning of August and the turn around was supposed to be a couple weeks. To have all the insurance stuff put into place. Over and over things kept getting delayed, paperwork was missing, not sent, the proper forms were not filled out - this was supposed to be from a professional Dr? My insurance finally received the paperwork on Aug 30 and my spouses insurance received them on Aug 22. The ins co noticed that he sent in the incorrect paperwork and called the Clinic for him on Aug 22, Aug 23 and Aug 26. Briggs was not avail any of those days ??? No one called the insurance They use a 3rd party company to deal with insurance stuff called Central Medical. EA placed the blame on CM because they said someone was on vacation and paperwork was getting messed up. :) Called the clinic to get Briggs and the owners email because I had enough of the bullshit. When I politely asked for the contact info the CSR became confrontational and refused, I got pretty upset as I was tired of the BS and excuses / finger pointing. I'll admit it wasnt her fault per say but honest a person can only take so much. I ended up calling the other location and they gave me Briggs and Becky's email.They also offered us our paperwork so we could go elsewhere for treatment. We wrote them an email expressing our concerns on the 4th of August. NO REPLY This morning Aug 9 central medical called to say that "Dr" Briggs was refusing to sign my spouses paperwork for the insurance and that they would not be moving forward. Like seriously ?? How can a Dr that has a duty of care / a mandate to do no harm be so vindictive and refuse to treat my spouse because I call them out on their bad behaviour? Shortly after I sent a message on FB where some of our communication was and indicated that I would be following up with a very truthful review of the experience on social media and also that I would be reporting this to the College of Physicans. That was not a threat it was a notification, esp since I already told Central Medical I would be moving my business elsewhere. Briggs called, I missed the call and called him back, he proceeded to give me a verbal spanking, which in turn made me lose my shit. He also said he called the College of Physicans and they agreed that my behavior warranted them terminating our relationship... I doubt very much the college was judge and jury in a matter of minutes after only hearing Briggs version of events..If only all official proceedings were that quick. After hearing phone call my spouse also terminated his dealings with the clinic. I have been here a couple of times now, specifically for Bioidential Hormone Replacement Therapy. All the ladies there are absolutely wonderful. They remember your name, why you are there, and make you feel completely comfortable. With extensive medical training, the employees (a lot of them RN's) answer any and all questions and make you feel beautiful, even if you're not quite at your very best. You walk in, are greeted with smiles and salutations and offers of coffee/water/tea. Marie, the receptionist takes care of all the bookings, faxing of prescriptions, and administrative duties. She's spot on! My RN, Caren, is amazing. Bubbly, outgoing, and sensitive to my feelings/needs/treatments. Even have lots in common with me. After a FREE consultation, if you choose to go ahead with treatment, you pay a yearly fee. With this, your follow-up doctors appointments, and even phone inquiries are all included. You can even drop in if need be! Other medical spa's similar to this charge for the initial consult, PLUS every additional follow up appointment AND any phone consultations. With two locations, one in North Edmonton, and one in St Albert, lots of clients have been coming for many years, and have seen/felt huge benefits to treatments. Dr. Briggs, the BHRT specialist is warm and friendly, and he is very knowledgeable about how the body works, and the most important things to balance yourself and your life. Initially gave 5 stars but after going other places for lip filler, this place is the worst. Sooooo much more expensive and it feels like a real chop shop. They just want you in and out as quickly as possible. Other medical places I've been have described in detail what you're getting and what may happen etc. I also think having a person who fills your lips but has huge filler balls in their lips is not the best place to go. I wanted to give EA a good review but at this time I absolutely cannot. I booked a day off work to get my brows done. Staff were very nice, however the machine was not working and thus wasted 2.5 hours while trying to figure out technicalities. I understand that things malfunction, but it is important to check equipment before clients come in for appointments. The most upsetting thing was that I left with an offer to have a 60$ complimentary facial, something that I a) do not care for and b) is completely lowballing for the time and frustruation i went through. I left the clinic with blue marker all over my face from outlining my brows, which DID NOT come off. Honestly, I went home and cried. I did not leave my house for almost 2 days. In addition to losing hundreds from booking the day off work, they still expect me to come back and pay hundreds to get my brows done? I think not. The situation could have been handled much better. If any woman is SMART and googles prices and reviews you would NOT BOOK HERE! There pricing is outrageous!! The owner was a sweetheart but you can tell she is overworked and the quality of the clinics is lowering and prices way over the top. I did permanent makeup with them and Botox and facials. Until I got smart and realized there are great people all over edmonton and to stop getting ripped off. They promise you warranties on permanent makeup and don't follow thro cuz of the constant change over in staff. Becky the owner was amazing with her clinic. But now she isn't around and the rude mean girls all standing at the desk with their smart ass comments and lack of warmth is a major turnoff. Super pretty but super rude and fake. I found a place called brow envy and redid all external affairs previous permanent makeup and I haven't been back in over a year. Where as I was at external affairs twice a year paying 600$ a pop! Updating my review. I did have a bad experience with Becky. So did several of my friends. Yes I do know she's suppose to be the best injector that's why I went to her. But when I tell me story and I hear other girls that have gone home crying or left with lumps or a heavy drowsy eye brow of course it's not just me. Everyone's skin is different and we can't all come out with perfect results. But If I do get injections again I will just not go to her or external affairs I will go to an actual clinic not a spa. And if there is massive lumps in your lips and you guys go in and take it all out you should refund the patient. Now she has no lip plumping and also botched lips why should she have to be for that 700 plus dollars for that. And when left with a phone number and told I can call at any time if I have a problem they don't answer and I'm left all weekend going to random shops saying please Help me. I had bad experience with botox and juvederm. My eyebrows looked like I was a Jocker and my lips were totally uneven with lumps. It was the first time that I was treated by a nurse and not a doctor. I had botox and juvederm before so I knew what to expect. I was shoping for better prices and I thought nurse will be cheaper than doctor. Well, I was disappointed. The rpices were the same as with other doctors. I went back to the clinic and complained that my lips had lumps and my brows looked horrible. She put more botox and said that it will take few days for the effect to take place. My lips was another story. She tried to massage the lumps and that hurt like raw flesh. Then she tried to put more juvederm arround it. Needless to say it did not work and even looked worse. In the end I went to doctor who was surprised and upset that the lumpswere not disolved but maybe nurses don't have stuff to disolve bad job. I was a faithful client at External Affairs. I started seeing Becky many years ago and over the years they extended their staff with great injectors. I have had the opportunity to receive treatments from the other girls and was more than impressed with the quality of their injecting. Recently I have noticed many changes at External Affairs. Over the last few months 3 of their injectors have left and their top esthetician and nail tech. This makes me wonder what exactly is going on there! My last appointment I was booked with one of their injectors that I was partial to and when I went in I was booked with Becky. I was very disappointed with this and felt that I should have been notified about the change. When I asked the staff where the injector had gone they gave some story that made absolutely so sense. As a business owner myself I felt this was very unprofessional and caused me a great deal of concern. I have also spoken to a few friends that have expressed concerns regarding treatments received. One friend in particular had lip injections done by Becky that ended up in a disaster. She will never go back there! I myself do not feel confident going back to see any of the injectors they have as part of there so called team. This business advertises the highest of quality services which I feel has greatly declined in the last 6 months.
