Avoid the older lady that's been "working there for 100 years" at all cost. I've been having my nails done for 15 years and I've never walked out of an appt until today. I was nearly in tears. Instead of filing off lifted areas she was ripping them up and snapping them off with cuticle cutters. I've never felt pain like that in my life. She burned me multiple times with the drill, tried shoving a tip under a broken nail to lift it off instead of filing it down.... Her licence should be revoked. read more

Thank you, nail gods! YYC can finally compete in this beauty realm. I heard about this nail salon from a Yelper-- she raved about the service at Exquisite Nails & Spa and is a regular there. I have to say my bar was set pretty high by salons in Toronto and New York but upon reassurance from Yelp, I booked my appointment, got my nails done and was super thrilled! Like, I almost "hugged all the nail technicians at the salon" kinda thrilled! Exquisite Nails has the friendliest staff-- they're attentive, welcoming and knowledgeable about the trends. I came prepared with photos, diagrams and samples and I didn't even have to break them out-- they knew exactly what I was talking about and were a step ahead of me: offering designs or gem work without any additional costs. This is almost unheard of in the nail-world! Tracey and Natalie did mine and my sister's nails. Tracey is the sweetest. She talked to me throughout my entire salon and greeted many clients by their first name. A signal to me, that people like their honest and amazing service. Speaking of honesty, when I booked my appointment over the phone, I was told that it was $55 for a new set (solar or regular acrylic) with two nail designs (as long as it wasn't too complicated) and guess what? Very friendly service! We did a couples pedicure. They have a nice little private room. Massage chairs and we each had a practitioner. They did a very thorough job on us both and were very friendly. The front girl not as much but I think it was a language thing. $48 for a pedicure and my gf brought her own polish although I think its included. Nice foot massage too. read more

I get my nails done in Okotoks, but when I visit my mom we usually get our nails done together. I've come here time and time again thinking I've gotten bad luck or am asking for too much. I've gotten an ombré and I can't express how badly done they were. So uneven and the gel went over my cuticle so by the next day every nail was catching on my hair ect. Then today, I came in to get a French tip and she made my nails SO short she couldn't even shape them properly or anything. All the white is smudged and not clean at all. My nails look horrendous. I told the front desk lady and said to make them shorter? Makes no sense. Also every time I come in they are very thick. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

So unbelievably overpriced for what you get. I went today for the first time and got JUST shellac. That is all I ever get no matter where I go. It was $33 for A SHELLAC POLISH CHANGE. That is so unbelievably over priced without a manicure. The only time I've ever seen a price like that for just shellac was at a high end hotel spa. I strayed away from my usual place to get my nails done with a friend and let me tell you, lesson learned. I've been getting shellac in this city for years and never seen prices like that. And you know what? They did a bad job too. My nail shape is completely crooked and really rough around the edges, and there's shellac all over my skin. I have to go home and re-file all of my nails now. I'm actually really upset over how much of a rip off that just was HA! Yelp does not allow me to write specific business recommendations on reviews but do yourself a favour and go elsewhere if you are looking to get what I just had done. Very disappointed in quality of nails all around! I went in for an appointment a week ago and paid $78 for nails that looked like they were done by a beginner, I asked for a ombré of pastel on 2 fingers and they were not blended what so ever, sloppy paint and shape job,bumpy beyond belief, I went back a few hours later to get them fixed and I ended up settling with just white and I was still charged for design and most problems were not fixed! Also, 6 days later a nail snapped off and for $80 I expect more than this! read more

The lady that did my nails was so sweet and gave the greatest hand and arm massage but I was hoping to get CND shellac and she said they didn't have any although I'm sure they did. It's a week later and my nails are chipped, I've never had that happen ever, I'm not hard on my nails. The WORST thing was the filing and cuticle trim! A week on, half my nails feel ingrown and my hands are in so much pain! Now I know why nail-bed torture is thing (horrible comparison but I understand now). Each day the pain has been worse. Thank god I was on vacation because when I went back to work yesterday I could barely type or use a pen. I'm such a sucker for a decent mani and pedi, but in my experience there are two types of nail joints in Calgary: Cheaper (but lesser quality) Nail-only places and really expensive spas. Exquisite Nails and Spa offers all the attention to quality of the latter with the price of the former. I love the combination. I definitely advise making an appointment a few days in advance. They do accept walk-ins, but available space is few and far between. My one beef (and star knock off) is that even when you schedule two appointments for the same time, there is no guarantee that you will start together. This is a major bummer for me because I like to use nails as girl bonding time. But each nail specialist will take as long as she needs to make sure your manicure or pedicure is perfect. Because of this, you can expect to spend a decent chunk of time in-store, so don't schedule things too close! Every manicure and pedicure I've had here has been flawless. The spa pedicure is wonderfully relaxing. You sit back in the massage chair and let them go to work. They are so thorough it is almost scary, and you can see them sanitize all of their tools in that microwave thing that kills germs. It is such a major plus to see all of the tools sanitized. Manicures are thorough - you get cleaned and massaged and then they go to work on your cuticles. The process does take quite a bit of time, and then finally they paint on your nail colour and you put your nails under the UV light. They won't let you leave until they are sure your nails are dry, because they don't want to waste all that time they just put into the upkeep of your tootsies. I love this place. read more

I recently visited Exquisite Nails for the first time to remove gel nails. I always dread this because it hurts and is a generally unpleasant experience. However, I was pleasantly surprised that my nail artist (Trina) did such a good job at comfortably filing down the nails to smoothness. She was pleasant yet quiet, so focused and dedicated to the task. The manicure looked great and lasted for almost a full week. The salon appeared to be quite clean and modern as well. I tried this place out because of people I know go there. The Salon was nice but I don't think the mani/pedi was work the $100.00. For the mani, I was charged extra of cuticle trim and wasn't aware that it was an extra charge. The girl who did my mani was really nice and we had a good chat. I went a week ago tho and my shellac is already pealing. My pedi was so so, no real complaints but have has better elsewhere. This place is not good at all! I had to come twice to never be helped. I came the first time, and they took 30 mins to see me. In which I couldn't wait as I had to pick up my children. So I set a time in the evening, my friend came along and she was helped first. They took another 30 mins to ask me if I wanted to pick a colour. I decided to give this place a try when my nail salon was caught in a fire, and I'm so glad I did! The staff are always super friendly and they seem too be very experienced in nail art. I also love how when they repair a nail, they don't add on a new one, they just shape one instead with acrylic powder instead. These ladies know what they are doing. I have got a set of gel nails, shellac and pedicures done and they really are A1! I have never felt rushed and they always do a great job. The polish with a pedicure lasts ages and shellac can last for more than 2 weeks if you are careful. They are slightly more expensive than other places outside the city but well worth it! I went there a month ago for a refill ... i showed a picture to my nail technician (Tracy) she said it was very easy to do so i was happy and was looking forward to my new set of nails. I have given this place so many tries to see if any new acrylic set will actually last, but after one week of growth, I can pop them off like glue on drug-store nails. I want to give this place a good review because the staff are nice and always try to do their best. I just can't justify going back for another $65 set when I know they are going to be popped off in a week. Never had an issue before and now I have had to see doctor's etc. . she razored way to much skin off and my heel cracked so widely open my doctor wanted to put it stitches the next day but because of where it was choose not to because I have a very very active job. Usually I love this salon, but I got the worst pedicure yesterday. The shellac has already come off my big toe, my cuticles hurt from her scraping the polish off as she painted. She almost forgot a top coat, so shaky....so disappointing. They are in the middle of a renovation and there is dust everywhere. Not enjoyable. read more

First time getting nails done and I was pretty impressed with how they turned out, however there was a few things I was disappointed by. To start out I. Made an appointment for 3:30, arrived at 3:15, checked in at the front and had a seat. Half an hour goes by still not one acknowledgment, finally at 4:06 I'm taken in with a nail tech. She asks what I'm having done and agreed upon burgundy,matte, acrylic nails. She starts picking out tips and matching them up to my nails and gets up and is gone for about 5 minutes. This continued through the whole appointment, she'd get up and leave to answer the phone, help out another customer etc, totally cool I get that she's the one right near the front however I noticed who I checked with was actually a receptionist, and I thought naturally she would be the one carrying out the tasks. Anyways I've got the tips applied, acrylic on, and filed to the correct shape, we've now applied colour and she's applying the last clear top coat which I would have assumed to be the mattifying coat but I ended up with glossy nails ( which isn't a big deal at all because I realized that I liked the glossy finish) now with dry nails I take a look and I can feel the rough edges of the nails, shellac missed along the edges, uneven thicknesses. However I am happy with the general shape and the fact that they are all the correct length! All in all I would come here again, that's if my first choice of salon wasn't available. read more

Big fan of their pedicures. If you're looking for something a little more in depth than the light emery board brush up you would normally receive from the big chain salons to remove dead rough skin from your heels look no further. Reasonably priced pedi at 48+tax+tip and they did a wonderful job. Have some serious tools to remove all that calloused dead skin and the massage chair is nice too. Only complaint is that at first things were a little unorganized and I felt a little bit lost. No one greeted me when i walked in and they chatted amongst themselves for the most part. When I actually spoke with my esthetician she was very nice and lovely but dont go there if you're looking for a chat. I'm also pretty sure i was forgotten about when i was put under the uv light to dry, but hey such is life. All in all a good experience and my feet are feeling oh so smooth and fresh. read more
