I haven't done a review in a long time but today my fire was reignited. I left my rage subdue but ultimately screw this shop. I came in on a Saturday afternoon. No one waiting for a haircut but people were in the seats so I'm told 30 mins. Cool. No big deal on a walk in wait. But as the shop cleared out I found myself sitting there an hour and a half later waiting for a simple line up. Now at that point I couldn't wait any longer and left because I'm a somewhat rational human and had a dinner reservation. Honestly suites me right for trying to be convenient instead of going to steady guy. Lesson learned. Screw everyone in that shop other than the guy closest to the door on the left hand side. Only guy to give a crap that I walked in and waited, but his hands were full, can't blame him for taking care of the client in his seat. Just wish he was open when I got there lol read more

I found this place in 2010 when another Lawrenceville barber gave me a crooked line (with a Gumby-like slant) and then wanted to argue with me about whether it was straight. I went to Exquisite Cuts that day and they fixed it. I've been going to them since that day. It is unlike some other shops in Gwinnett in several ways. First, the more tenured/experienced barbers do not automatically send you to "the new" barber for you to be that new barber's guinea pig. I've had that happen at numerous places (i.e., that system where if you're a walk-in and they don't know you, the more tenured barber looks you up and down to decide whether you're "worthy" to sit in his chair). At this place, I see the experienced barbers ask walk-ins if they're looking "for anyone in particular." If not and if the experienced barber has an open chair, the more experienced barbers don't think they're "too good" to take the unknown walk-in. Second, since I've been there, ANY barber has been able to give me a high-quality cut when my guy, G, is not available. At other shops, I noticed that if I went to someone other than my regular guy, I knew I was rolling the dice. I've never experienced that or felt that way at Exquisite Cuts. I've known that I can sit in any chair and walk out happy with my cut (which says something about the shop's quality control; they're not just renting chairs to anyone who wants to buy one; they obviously make sure the barber has skills, first). There have been some occasions when I poked my head in the shop and realized I couldn't wait (when I was under a time crunch) and I chose to drop in somewhere else. WHAT. A. DISASTER. Worst barber shop I've ever been to, which is saying a lot, because I'm known to hop barbers. I had been to this shop before a few years prior, so I was expecting this to be as easy and pleasant as last time. Yeah, no. I went in a few weeks ago for a simple taper. I was greeted immediately and got a prompt answer when asked how long the wait was. I didn't make a reservation, so I wasn't surprised nor offended by the 20-25 minute wait. They were playing your stereotypical "rachet" music, curse words and all, but the parents with their young children didn't seemed to be too bothered by it. The tvs are situated on both sides of the building and they're usually playing sports. Nothing wrong there. Fast forward a bit and it's my turn to get my cut. It all goes downhill from here. 1. My barber walks away for a moment to discuss something with another barber..at this point, every other barber has left the building out the backdoor besides one other working on another man's beard. They hand a cash handover or something, and then there were two. Legend has it, the other barbers were never seen again...(alright, I'm being dramatic.) Point being, if I wanted another barber, I wouldn't have had the option since the place was basically abandoned. 2. HE ASKS MY SISTER TO MAKE A PART. You're telling me this man is a so-called barber, and doesn't even know how to make a part? And let it be duly noted that I came in with my hair already pulled up in buns so that it would be easier to taper for the barber.. 3. This f*cking haircut y'all. The back of my head looks like it was cut by someone with parkinson's. Not only did he not taper or fade my hair,(he just cut it short and uniform), he also went way to high on the left side. I know this was his mistake because I checked the part my sister made before cutting and I could feel him going way up while he was cutting. This crooked cut is so bad, I don't walk out the house with the back of my head exposed. What a joke. Will never go here again or recommend anyone to go here. I would have rather paid double and gotten someone who was at least more dexterous than a jar of mayonnaise, unlike this guy. read more

I went to Exquisite Cuts on 5/19/2019 to get braided from one of their stylists (Shuga Braids) (ShugaStyles) on IG. I booked and paid a deposit the prior weekend confirmed an appointment time of 2pm today 5/19/19. I arrive exactly at 2pm expecting to be serviced, upon arriving I saw that Shuga was finishing up cornrows on someone, ... I'm figuring cool cornrows don't take that long to finish, then she moved across the room to start on another head which were faux locs. Now it's about 2:20 so I walked up and asked about how much longer will I have to wait, and she tells me 30-35 minutes! Sitting waiting.... I realized it's going on 3:30, so I walk outside to talk to a friend to help me figure out this foolery. I went back in and sat for a moment then asked Shuga how much longer because I've been waiting for 2 hours now and I have to go! She tells me she has 3 more braids, she apologizes for the trouble and if I needed to leave she understood. I asked her after those three braids how much longer from there and she said she had to style the hair and she did not want to give me another timeframe. So, I went to the restroom and went to sit back down. Shuga approached me and said at this time she had two options for me, that she could either give me my deposit back or the hair she purchased for me. She then states that she was not willing to do my hair because my vibe was off, and she did not want to transfer that vibe to her chair. My response was... "so your telling me after I've waited two hours you are now saying since my vibe is off you don't want to do my hair"!! At no time did I cuss, called her out her name or anything!! I even stated that I needed to get my hair done and clearly, I was willing to wait longer,,,,, end result is that she gave me my deposit back and I walked out looking like a damn troll doll with my hair on top of my head!!!! read more

Literally got out of the chair with my face bleeding and he still tried to charge me $20. He even had the nerve to give me his card. It's a week later and I still have a scab. Not to mention the entire time they were cussing and screaming at each other in an argument. read more
