I can no longer trust Expresstech nor recommend them. They gave wrong diagnosis of serious engine issues & an open ended (could rise) $2,500 repair estimate for major engine work. This news was heartbreaking as I'd just paid them $1,800 for repairs that included supposedly fixing this issue. The prognosis was so serious they floated trading the car in instead. The first red flag was their estimate included replacing oil cooler for ~$300 they already replaced 10 mos earlier. The 2nd red flag was they didn't do basic engine troubleshooting leak-down test to assess engine health, a huge problem because without it I had no idea how high that repair estimate could go nor how bad the engine really was. My gut said get a 2nd opinion & thank god I did as it saved me thousands. Full details: the car was misfiring with valve cover oil leaks. Expresstech removed valve covers to replace leaking gaskets. They could have done some basic engine troubleshooting at this time but did not. I asked them -twice- to check rocker valves knowing this is a known failure point on these engines. They assured me they were great. They replaced other parts & gave the car back to me. But as soon as I drove it, it clearly was NOT fixed. Mechanic was befuddled & said he was sure it was fixed, so I suggested looking at misfire data. He did & discovered it was still misfiring. Why didn't he check that before? He then reported compression on multiple cylinders was EXTREMELY low, signs of serious engine issues, but they couldn't tell me exactly what caused it (since they didn't do a leak-down test), just that I should replace head & gasket for $2.5K+. So I got a 2nd opinion. They immediately spotted 2 bad rocker arms - the parts Expresstech told me were fine, & replaced them ($10 parts from Autozone), immediately fixing the issue. Not only that, but they re-ran the cylinder test & compression was PERFECT in every cylinder, not low per Expresstech. A leak-down test they did backed this up. They could only conclude Expresstech must have done the compression test wrong. To top it all off, they also noted visible scratches inside the engine & asked if Expresstech had tried to loosen carbon deposits with cleaner? I confirmed they had. They suspect Expresstech used a screwdriver on the deposits to scrape them, scratching the delicate engine surfaces in the process! After all this, I made a modest request to Expresstech to just refund the labor cost they charged me to replace incorrect parts from misdiagnosis, & they utterly refused. This, after I gave them tons of business over the last year ($4.5K+) while dealing with multiple other frustrations with the shop. Over a year coming here, they never once finished repairs by the time estimate given, & we had to make 3 separate repair visits to repeatedly replace (under warranty) the strut brand they highly recommended we go with. They said the multiple new struts were all defective, and maybe they were, but I can't help but wonder if mis-installation was also a factor based on our engine experience. read more

Very honest, very polite, they go out of their way to save the customer money. My 2003 Honda CR-V had an idle that would slow almost to the point of stalling then rev up to 3,000 rpm the diagnostic read idle air and I noticed a broken temperature sensor valve and vacuum line. When they replaced the valve and vacuum line, and that didn't fix the idle issue, instead of recommending any other parts they took the throttle body apart and cleaned it. The problem was solved with out buying any more parts. All along the way they phoned me to keep me up to date on their progress and the cost. Extremely rude. I had a 9am appointment and was told 2 hours. I come back in 2 hours and I ask how much longer and the guy laughs in my face and tells me it's going to be another 2-3 hours. Another hour goes by and I asked for an update. He yells at me very aggressively which made me uncomfortable. If I knew it was going to be a longer wait time I would of planned a ride instead of wait. I did not appreciate getting yelled at over their lack of communication. The employees just blamed the mechanic for being in a bad mood and said he hates installing equipment in the car. Do not go here, the people treat you like shit.
