I have a 48 year career in construction. I'm retired and not physically able to do this work myself anymore. So I can give a very qualified 5 Star assessment of the work they performed. After over a year of interviewing construction companies (10+), to add a screened porch to our…read morehome, we finally found someone who listened and understood exactly what we wanted, NOT they wanted to build. Paul and his team from Glenn Gate Construction. To say that the total experience from first interview to the project completion was outstanding, would be an understatement. Paul showed up on time for our initial meeting (this was not the case for most of the others), listened to what we wanted in our project, made recommendations we had not thought of and within a couple of days we had a plan and contract. Paul worked with us to stay within our budget and when we had a question, or wanted a change he was quick to respond. But what I liked the best is that he would react to the question/change with the pros and cons, not just "sure we can do that". Paul's team that built our screened porch were craftsmen not just carpenters, and Paul monitored the project almost every day. I would highly recommend that anyone considering any construction project big or small give Paul and Glenn Gate Construction serious consideration. We had Alex bid on both concrete and deck repair or replacement. The deck price was competitive and…read moreallowed us to do what we really wanted - to stay with a deck instead of a less expensive concrete patio. The experience was positive in so many ways, but what stands out to me is Alex's professionalism (something sorely lacking in contractors today). He was the first (of six) to get back with me with his quote and walked us through our options with a video presentation. When he found that our joists had already been reused and were in sorry shape, he showed us his concerns and clearly proved to us that full replacement was the only real option. Then he made time to increase the scope of the project and finished in just a couple extra days. As many others have pointed out, he leaves the property in good shape at the end of the day and the project. He kept our deck footprint identical to the original deck so we didn't have to make any changes to our landscaping. Our deck appears to be sturdy, and I'm confident that the extra steps he took (like putting Teflon tape on the joists) will make this deck last for a couple of decades with reasonable maintenance and care. I'm excited to have Alex back to apply the stain and will update my review with the full "after" images.
