Honestly I rarely shop at Express and even if I do it's not at the physical store. My boyfriend and I came here to get his very first suit. The people there were so knowledgeable, patient, and caring. They loaded us with many many discounts (when they absolutely didn't have to) and we left feeling so grateful. Boyfriend looked great in the suit and we'll think about the people there whenever we go on a special event. read more

The employees here are IDIOTS!!! How do you go and charge me the WRONG price for my items and then tell me it's non refundable and there's nothing they can do about it. Then when I suggest I get store credit for the difference they owed me, they tell me to get an item and they'll take the difference off, and when I do so with earrings I didn't even want or need just to make use of the $5 difference they owed me, they treat ME like I was the one in the wrong with no apology. I am so appalled and annoyed with idiots who don't know how to be respectful towards customers. I love Express clothes, but my experiences here have been negative enough that I am boycotting this store from now on. read more

I dislike salespeople. The goal of working as a sales associate in retail is to improve purchases throughout the store. Yet they do this in the poorest way possible. Salespeople at retail stores: - Ask you if they can help you find a size of a shirt you are in the process of trying on. - See if you will like "these purple pants" because you like "that black jacket" - Continually ask you if you are finding everything even after you have stated that you are not looking for anything. None of this is going to make me buy more. If anything, it's going to make me afraid to come back.... ... HOWEVER When I do need help, a salesperson is incredibly useful. They represent someone I can ask, and then they can provide an answer, and the world is a better place. This is the one job to which they are useful, and this was the one job in which one of the sales people at Express did very poorly. They had a sale on jeans. One pair of jeans looked very nice. I liked it. I was going to buy it. The problem was that these pants are pre-washed, and the fabric in front of the zipper already looked like it was shrinking. When I tried it on, I could see a faint line of the zipper. I don't want pants where the zipper fabric cover is going to shrink to the point where the zipper is clearly visible. If I want that much attention paid to my crotch, it's going to be under my terms. So I ask this effeminate gentleman if he has a pair of the pants in my size where the fabric in front of the zipper is not already shrinking. And he responds like a little snot with a tone that is in no way friendly that I can just iron it before I wear it each time. Yeah, no. I'm not going to iron my jeans before I wear them, hoping that the fabric in front of my crotch hides my zipper. They're jeans, and I'm a dude. I have facial hair. I'm not ironing the crotch of my jeans. I was really friendly. I even smiled and made jokes. And you neither helped me find my size, nor gave me any useful thoughts, nor answered the question without attitude. You have one job. It's not complicated. Interestingly, I found a pair of the jeans that wasn't already shrinking, but hey! Screw you! I didn't buy it. Next time be less EXACTLY what I expect a salesperson in Express to be like. read more

40% off everything in the store. 3 stars for short staffing the store so much that I waited at least 10 minutes to pay. It took quite awhile to get an associate to help me as they were all with other customers. Once I did get help the associate was super nice and helpful. Don't know her name because they weren't wearing name tags. read more

My daughter likes this shop because they tend to have very reasonable prices. We walked past on Saturday and in the window was a perfect shirt for $9.99 - how can you beat that. Big sign "$9.99 and a simple cameo in 5 colors - black is the one she wanted." Walked in the store and there was the same rack of cameos with a large $9.99 sign. She decided to purchase one in black and one in corral. When she went to the register, the cashier gave us a total that did not match a $9.99 price, but instead was $17.99 each. When we questioned and remarked that there was a huge sign $9.99 and by the way these were the ONLY shirts with the sign, he stated "I know these are new products that we just got in and I don't think they are $9.99" We asked him to go check and he returned stating that the sign in small print stated "select styles". Goodness Express that is now cool. If you have a huge sign stating $9.99 and show one style in the window and one style on a rack that makes no sense at all! Update your pricing to reflect the true prices of items. Now I wish I would have taken a picture to include in this review because the General Manager I'm sure would update this in a minute! It gave me a disappointed feeling with the store. read more

There was this sales lady on the floor that seemed like she might be a store manager who was actually pretty rude to me and my mom. I asked the cashier if I got a student discount and he said yes and gave me 10%, but I remembered the credit card machines advertised 15% so I inquired. Apparently according to this short haired female sales associate. "You are lucky you even got the discount so take it and leave. You weren't even supposed to get a discount on top of a sale". Hostile much? I was just asking and being a savvy shopper. You didn't have to be rude about it. I wasn't even arguing with her I just asked if I could get a price adjustment. The service here is subpar to my usual Nordstrom and anthropologie experience. Will not be returning. read more

not good for petites. not good for large women. very good for average-sized women from 5-12. their tops are always classy and fun to wear. i enjoy shopping here mostly during the winter seasons. their summer stuff gets a little frumpy and flashy.... i expect lots of dark colors and warmth when shopping here. the pricing is a bit steep... but the quality is always worth while. you don't see your pants ripping anytime soon. =) read more

This is my most favorite store at the Alderwood Mall! Most of my clothes come from here. Their tops fit so well- they are a great style while still being pretty simple and basic. The clothes that I have from here last for years. The price can be steep, but I tend to take advantage of their coupons or buy 2 get one free deals, and always leave with quite a bit of items at a good price overall. Each time I come in the employees are very nice and helpful and the store always has new items on display. LOVE express. read more

I came on Friday night during their 40% sale looking for a pair of black leggings to complete my outfit for Christmas. I saw these black leggings with leather on the sides online and it said there were limited quantity at Alderwood. I started to look for them but they didn't have size small. I was getting worried because I came all the way looking for these leggings. Their employee, Christina was awesome. Very helpful young lady. She first looked in the same pile I had looked before to double check and she couldn't find it, then she told me she would look in the back and in the fittings room as well. A few minutes later she came back with a big smile and told me she found my size in the back room! Will definitely come back again! I loved shopping at Structures. They were spendy but you knew you were buying good quality and their outfits made you look good. Then they disappeared and became Express. I kept coming back and buying more of their stuff. I found that the quality has got worse and fashion more like the gap. All foos but not real balls to make you feel like you are somebody. I have mix reviews on their sales staff too... some good and some poor. Few days ago I went in to buy this coat I had my eyes on. It actually looked and felt like a good buy at $300. This time it was at a different rack with only few choices left. They were all badly wrinkled and not one of them were put back properly. It looked really cheap and the sales person told me thats because it just arrived and came out of the box. They offered to steam it for me to straighten it out. Really? At that price and with the image your trying to set, couldn't you have already done that so I could have been sold on it? Now I know they wrinkle too easy, being made of wool. I don't want to have to keep running to the dry cleaners to straighten it out. Also upon trying two different sizes it wasn't made right. I know I would rip the medium size around the shoulders and the large was too big. I wanted a slim fit to make me look good. I guess I will wait until I find a better made one at a different store. :( read more

I love Express! I love that this location has tons and tons of clearance items (though completely unorganized), whereas the Northgate store usually never has clearance items. However, I feel that the associates discriminate based on appearance. I don't dress fancy all the time. I usually like to dress down with jeans and a shirt, instead of skirt and blouse, because it's more comfortable for me. There have been multiple times that I come into this location and as I'm shopping next to others, who are dressed 'better,' those are who the associates approach and inform on the sales and deals, etc, and I'm usually the one they ask if they can help me......as if I don't belong there...do i need help picking a style or something...whereas the others are approached as if they belong in the store and are happily told the sales and deals... Anyways, another reason for the 2 rating is that I was cheated out of using my $15 off of $30 coupon. The back of the coupon says that the coupon doesn't apply to clearance items ending in $ .99, but when I purchased some clearance items the cashier instantly assumed they would ring up ending in $ .99 so she refused to apply it. However, of course when I got home (ALWAYS look at receipt before leaving! Lesson learned [again] !), I saw that two of my clearance items did in fact end in $ .00 which would have made my coupon VALID. But because the associate ASSUMED and didn't pay attention to the register screen and CARE to look at the prices, I was denied use of the coupon... what's messed up even more is that she asked a 'supervisor' if she could apply the coupon for me and she said no too WITHOUT even looking at the prices of the items either! Both assumed that the clearance would end in .99 without even looking at what I was actually charged! Ugh! read more
