I am attaching photos. I was excited when a man about 70ish came to do the initial measurements. I had no doubt he was a master craftsman and was thrilled. But the template was made by, I think his son. He aslo did the install. His sister called the night before he was supposed to be installing, that he was sick so it was installed a day later than agreed upon which messed up a plumber. I inspected the job before I cut the check. Only because I mentioned these problems did he confess to them. He would have left without pointing them out. I paid the full price which makes me incredibly gullible. You can see the gap of over an inch from the granite to the west side wall. You can also see where they cut into a wooden chair rail too far on the edge of the eastern side. The heartbreaker was that the puppy didn't match the grain on the two opposing ends. The center piece (sink) was laid east to west but the two side counters were cut north to south. I expected the grain to be in one direction as we bought a huge slab. The edge of the east block to the north/south block isn't flush. It was a poor job that I waited for since August (July if you count our going to the stoneyard in Windsor). I've wanted a granite countertop my whole adult life and was in tears after they left because it cost a fortune and wasn't done well. It was a poor job that cost a fortune and took months. I CANNOT RECOMMEND as the son is more an apprentice who should learn more from his elder/master before being given his own install.

The man is the absolute best contractor in town - he's a one man factory, reliable, reasonable, meticulous and capable of virtually everything you need done for any building or remodeling jobs. The fact that he works by himself is rather unique, in my experience with contractors (though he will bring in extra help for BIG jobs). It does put a bit more time on the project's conclusion, understandably, but you get the highest degree of reliability, competence, skill and professionalism that is possible. There's no crew of random guys trudging through your house, no casual disregard for your property or complacency in the approach to your project. Every job is completed above and beyond the call of duty, with the utmost attention to detail and effort to see it done properly. Walt is the only contractor I've heard of who will also give you an itemized list of everything involved in the project, from total labor involved, to at-cost building supplies down to the lowliest screw and nail. The transparency involved in his record keeping allows for the most efficient anticipation of costs, and helps you keep within your project budget to the proverbial 'T'. Highly, highly recommended. Just get in contact as soon as possible, because with this level of service and demand, you're looking at being booked potentially months in advance.

We hired Cornerstone Construction and Remodeling to build a mudroom on the front of the house and…read moreto finish the attic. I will say Stephen Hale is an excellent salesman. Promises to have excellent work and that the work will be done correctly. However, the workmanship overall is not good, several issues had to be resolved. Stephen (if he comes) shows up on site for maybe 30 mins at the beginning of the day. Stephen doesn't check any of the work to ensure its up to code or if he does, he doesn't know the code and will cause rework later. I requested all work to be permitted at the beginning of the project. After questioning when the inspector was coming, his workers said Stephen was dealing with that. Stephen never filed for the permitting until I told him it had to be done. Work had to be paused for a month while waiting for inspector to come to the house. Cracks in grout from install after 2 months. I found out there was no Schluter or hardy board under the tile and it was put directly onto plywood. After 3 attempts to repair by just adding more grout into the cracks and caulking into the grout, I complained enough that he replaced it with LVP. They poured a concrete pad right before a frost and mounted the split unit condenser on it 2 days after pouring. I asked Stephen to fix this and his response was "it's a useable pad". I was so feed up with the excuses and the terrible workmanship that I didn't even want him to come back. Several other items had to be fixed, mounting the split units within 2 inches from the ceiling, not cleaning the walls before painting, stripped screws, and overall just terrible finishing work. The other issue I had was that they used my tools and shop vac while working on the projects without consent. Completely unprofessional. Stephen Hale offers a good price but the headaches and numerous failed inspections were a nightmare. Spend a little more and avoid the problems.
