In summary: I was seeking new opportunities in my field of UX design, had built an impressive portfolio but was consistently failing to communicate my work in a way that resonated with hiring managers. I had gone through 12 unsuccessful interviews before I decided it was time to seek some professional and objective advice. What I appreciated most about the mock interview with Lora was that she never tried to steer me away from being myself...she gave me practical tools to make sure that I was able to speak on my own behalf and recognize the intention behind every interview question. Long story short, I found myself with an offer letter about three weeks after our session in a role that is perfect for my professional development. If you're in a tough or confusing spot, don't make decisions based on the cost of services--just find someone who you trust that understands your goals and needs and it will pay off a thousand times in the future. Plum served that purpose for me and I can't reccomend their services highly enough.

I attended Plum Consulting's "You Can Use LinkedIn and Love It" workshop, and loved it. Lora is…read morehigh energy and carried the room, keeping everyone interested and engaged. It is a workshop, so you really are encouraged to bring a laptop and check things out for yourself as she walks you through how you want your profile to appear, how to contact people you are already connected to, and how to make new connections particularly to the people who make hiring decisions. I think you'll get more out of the workshop if you are able to do some homework beforehand, like get a Linked In account, and perhaps read Lora's blog posts. I liked that she asked folks to say what they were hoping to get out of the workshop, and then circled back at the end to make sure these things were covered. People came with many issues: out of the workforce for a decade, new to the Seattle area, trying to transition to a new industry, etc. I felt Lora was deft at handling these particular concerns with strategies that could be used through Linked In. I also have to say that I'm very familiar with software. I'm very familiar with web sites. But, I was not familiar with how recruiters and hiring managers used Linked In, and it was helpful to see things from their perspective. So, if you are holding off on doing this because you think it's just software and just a website, I think you'll still find value. This workshop was the first thing I did with Plum Consulting and Lora, but it left me with a favorable impression of the tenacity to expect from their other services.

Those…read morewith my background (which is well-qualified, but very specific, and from another state) don't usually do so well here. But all my friends were here, and I thought that to be taken seriously by the firms I was shooting for, I should choose a recruiter. Long ago in 2003 (a slump economy) I chose Law Dawgs, and they did a lot of pulling for me for temping, but I never landed anything permanent. This time around I made it a point to say I wanted full time, permanent, long term. And they interviewed me politely and I didn't hear from them at all for weeks. I contacted them periodically by e-mail to see if they'd forgotten I existed. When they finally called just once, it was to inform me of a position I'd already looked into, via my other recruiter, Shelly Langley, who was already on top of it. I had a feeling Shelly would work well for me because she'd been in the business before being a recruiter and was well connected with others in the biz about town. And in interview she just seemed .... shrewd and understanding at the same time. Prudent, I would say. Sharp. End result: I found a job that looked like a good fit - she agreed - and she connected me with the firm that hired me, AND AT MY SAME SALARY level as my former post, which was nothing short of miraculous. I think Shelly is THE BOMB. Don't waste your time with the others. You hunt down something you think you're a good fit for, and if she agrees, you can really do something!

I read reviews about Creative Circle's Seattle office and was very optimistic. Within a week and a half of working with Kristi Seifert, I had landed an interview and a contract position with a small consulting/think tank firm in downtown Seattle. Five months later, that contract position turned into a full-time position. Ten months since I started, I was promoted to senior consultant. I couldn't be happier with the team I am working with, doing the design work I've always wanted to do, for a wonderful organization. I can't thank Kristi and her team enough for their help - especially over those initial five months. We did check-ins, she answered all my questions with patience and guidance; and I have never had a better experience with a staffing organization. I don't know how they managed to find such a good fit for me. I am so impressed and thrilled. Things seemed to fall in place at the right time. Thank you, Kristi, for all your amazing work. You and your team are doing life-changing work. Side note: I participated in a volunteer design program with AIGA over the summer and Creative Circle was one of the sponsors! More kudos are in order.

They found two assignments, but the second one was terminated when (undiagnosed) health problems caused me to have problems with satisfactorily performing on the job. Cut to March 2016. I needed a job, and contacted Accountemps again with a revised resume and in much better health. I was interviewed by Nick Coughran, who was warm, friendly, and understanding of my past and present situations. He submitted my resume and found me a position in just over a week. From March to today, Nick and his associate Karl Harkins have given me support and feedback. Thankfully this assignment was far and away an improvement over the past one, but Nick and Karl let me know that my co-workers and supervisor thought I was doing a great job. They shared in my enthusiasm for the place, and passed on the news several times that my assignment had been extended. They asked about any concerns I might have, encouraged me to look for permanent work, and handled the end of my assignment when, two weeks ago, I found a permanent position elsewhere.
