The strands of medium beads are solid, bright colors like lime green. The strands of small beads have a main color with a little of other colors mixed in. I got two strands of the small beads; one green with gold pieces and one white. The young lady in the store helped me size, cut, and tie my beads on. I thought I was supposed to wrap the strand around twice, but she explained that you tie them around you once where you want them then cut the excess. You tie them in a knot, so they aren't meant to be taken off and on, unless you're cutting to make it tighter. I also got a beautiful fabric fan and I wish I'd bought two or three.
