The Designer Warehouse is one of my favourite London discoveries…read more Not far from my home, and just off Seven Sisters road is a monthly sale for designer clothes - having heard from it from a colleague, I didn't really know what to expect. It was great and would definitely recommend giving it a visit. When getting to the warehouse, you have to leave your bag and coat (including your phone) in a cloakroom, and may a small fee of £3 (or 2?) to be able to get in. The sale is over 2 floors, and organised by designers - some are really well known, some are smaller names I've never heard of. It's not a posh environment, it's just rows and rows of clothes on hangers - and you have to take the time to go through them to find the gems, and also your size. There aren't any changing rooms, but there is an area where you can go and try them on at the back of the venue - it's closed off to men, but you do have to accept getting changed in front of other women. I am myself a massive fan of Vivienne Westood, and this was also the opportunity for me to try on a few pieces of her clothes - and yes, I did cave in and buy a top (1/3 of the original price) and a scarf. Good to know: they separate their sales between womanswear and menswear - their schedule is updated on their website.

The clothes are fashionable and of a high quality. They are also very well priced. This shop often has sales and caters for all sizes as it is split in two with half the shop dedicated to larger ladies. They also offer a great range of handbags and other accessories. The staff are always friendly and the only downside is the shop is sometimes too small for all it's fans!

This shop provides a selection of clothing from evening dresses to workwear, they also sell shoes, handbags and other accessories. It is not always on trend and although the prices are good they are sometimes a little dearer than elsewhere. The staff are always friendly though and not pushy if you're just browsing. A nice little shop for the odd top but not for entire outfits.

If you are into your denim, want something authentic and not mass produced - and are maybe familiar…read morewith terms such as warp, weft, slubby, loomstate and selvedge - until now you probably had to look to LA, New York or Japan for your jeans. Or possibly a pair of 1947 Levi vintage 501s. Well that is hopefully about to change. It is great to see that there are now a few brands springing up in the UK which are genuinely artisanal, using traditional techniques and fabrics, and putting sustainability high on the agenda. This is one that I hope has a long and healthy future. I have just bought my first pair, they look and feel great, I and hope that I will never have to pay import duties on my jeans again.
