I hopped in a $20 Uber only to arrive at a closed shop with a construction crew tearing out walls.   Several unanswered calls later, one of the workers handed me a phone with a random woman on the line who casually informed me that the SF location was closed for the week. That's how I found out -- not from Geoff, not from the website, but from a stranger on a construction site.   The fact that Geoff couldn't grasp that a customer with a San Francisco appointment might assume he meant the San Francisco location is astonishing. After this experience, I wouldn't trust Geoff to tune a ukulele, let alone work on my guitar.

He actually followed up with me right after my last update and offered to meet with me to take care of it but it took me a while to get over there so the delay was my fault. I also think in all fairness that I should have made one more attempt to let him resolve the situation as he offered to do before writing the last update, but I just didn't have time to deal with it. In any case I met with Joe today, he checked out the guitar, made some adjustments on how the strings were installed and told me if it didn't solve the problem he would take greater steps to do what it takes to make sure it's working properly, and I believe that if it's not resolved he will. He also reaffirmed my initial perception that he's a really good guy, and the guitar is the coolest travel guitar I've ever seen - If you want one that doesn't have tinny sound, can be easily stowed in airplane overhead compartments without worrying about damage, and can be easily carried around - this is your guitar.

Guitar came back playing much better and fret dents completely gone. High E string didn't sound…read moreright though, had sitar like sound I was surprised they didn't hear on the final inspection. It was too far a drive to bring it back but a little research told me the bridge point was probably a little flat and that I could file a sharper point on it and it might fix it. It did fix it. I brought another guitar in as well and they fixed everything wrong and even found a couple additional things which they fixed at no additional charge.

I have 1969 Stratocaster with a neck like butter. I always wanted my telecaster to have the same…read moreneck. I left the Strat with Dan Ransom, and he took every possible measurement and "cloned" the neck for me, only with a Telecaster headstock. I'm a picky bastard. Guitar setups are a very personal thing, with one type of setup working for a particular playing style, but not another. I hit the strings pretty hard, chicken pickin style, so if a guitar is gonna buzz, I'm gonna make it buzz. Dan worked with me on tracking down a number of weird vibrations in my telecaster body and hardware and we tried a number of things to customize the setup to my playing style, finding the right amount of neck relief, string height, etc. Dan didn't stop until I was happy. He set the amp up with new tubes, and replaced several caps and fuses. Added a new 3 prong power cord. Now the amp is simply amazing, with the vintage Jensen speaker.
