This is very dog friendly and you can pull your car right up to the beach. You do have to keep your dogs on a leash as there are people circling to make sure that you do. I just bring a really long leash for them to be able to run around. My dogs like to run into the water so i have a long leash. Only downside is they don't have really plush sand. So if you go to the beach for the fluffy sand, this is not the place to go. But if you want no nonsense hassle or you don't have to carry all of your stuff miles to the beach just to find a good spot then you would like this beach. Note: there is free parking but we just ended up paying the $15 a day parking because we can pull right up on the beach. They do have an annual option to pay $30 for the whole year which I do think it's worth it if you go more than a couple times a year.

For decades, it was an unincorporated part of the county with no local government or emergency services. It was a free, barren, no-man's land. It was a semblance of the Wild West and, we liked it that way! Nowadays, I believed it's been annexed by the Port of Freeport. Bryan Beach is a lot of different things. It's possibly the ugliest beach in the world. Definitely, the ugliest in Texas. At the same time, it can reveal great beauty (mostly when the lights are off). It's a quickly eroding coastline, barely able to drive on or pitch a tent on. Fishing is great. Of course, you might want to catch and release as the river mouth passes a terrifying amount of pesticides, fertilizers, and God knows what else. Rip currents and an abundance of sharks make swimming dangerous. There's also sometimes dangerous people there. It's really a blank canvas. You can make it whatever you want. I've had incredible beach parties there in the past. Huge bonfires, cooking up dinner, camping out, insane amounts of alcohol.... With the right group, you can have the time of your life there. Maybe it's a weird portal to another dimension. Who knows? Bryan Beach is what you make it.

Although the avocado was fresh, the mushrooms were raw, which was a bit surprising. The owner is a very nice and friendly man. My friend, him and I had a nice intense conversation about traveling, food and surfing. He even gave us advice on where to go to a secluded spot at the beach in surfside. The owner can seem a bit rash when talking to, but I think it's because that's how he expresses himself. The location seems like it could use some cleaning, it looked a bit dusty. The service was good.

I own a shortboard but Texas surf most of the time isn't strong enough for me to get up on my board, so I always rely on Breaker sports to rent me one of their longboards. Prices aren't bad either, it's $12 per day with a $12 deposit for the boards. I can't remember the rental price for wetsuits, it has been a while since I rented one as I purchased my own wetsuit and spring suit a year or two ago. In addition to their rentals they also have a nice size selection of boards and gear to buy. I would much rather buy from them than take the risk of buying something that is misleading online. It is a family owned business so you get that family type of atmosphere as soon as you enter the store.

It's definitely peaceful, and it took my group 30 minutes to get from the start point (around The Kitchen at the Dunlavy) to Sabine Street on the day we went. We called multiple times, no answer, no call back. Drove there a few times no one was around. Eventually we got an email back with a PDF rental form, but it wasn't fillable on a phone. Come on, we are on vacation, who is carrying around a printer ?? Replied to the email for help and ... crickets. Tried calling again, sometimes you get voicemail, sometimes you don't. Either way, no one gets back to you. The place itself is worn down, didn't have much of rentals as far as we could see. After two days of trying to give them our money, we gave up and went to another spot 4 miles up the road. They got us set up in minutes with delivery. Not sure if K6 is shut down for the season or just doesn't care- but either way, don't waste precious vacation time here. Do not recommend.
