The three of us joined three others on a Saturday morning for a class using the pottery wheel. Rezgar Mamandi was our teacher- he was patient, kind and I learned so much! He has a wonderful rhythm to his teaching that allows all to find success - he demonstrates each step while thoroughly explaining, gives you time to try it while supervising and supporting, then allowing all to try and answering any and all question. out pieces were fired and we came back a few weeks later to paint our pieces. I picked them up today and I just feel so proud of the three pieces I made...and I can't wait to take more classes!

Seating was rather limited, so I would go early or reserve a spot (which I believe you can do). There is a variety of colors to choose from and have samples to know how the paint will look when fired. Some people have already mentioned it, but I highly recommend doing multiple layers. Our mugs ended up streaky in some spots. The paint dries fairly quickly, so it wasn't too bad applying layers. There were a lot of pottery pieces to choose from. I wish there were more like basic pieces though to have a more blank canvas. The prices were reasonable for each piece! The prices were written on the bottom. The firing process took about a week. My boyfriend and I have been using our mugs almost every day and they have held up well! Paint on mine did chip on the side, but my boyfriend's mug has been completely fine.

It was trippy with the black lights and projections on the wall of various etherial scenes. We all dressed up in the protective suit, googles and boots. The kids were a little small for the suits, but they managed to make it work! Once inside, you can throw paint all over, stomp on the artwork with your feet (a personal favorite of my kids), and twist the painting around to have the colors spread in all directions. We were joined by a staffer the entire time who took a few pictures along with a cute video. I recommend having the staffer snap photos with your own iPhone as mine came out a little better. But I did enjoy the video. At the end of the experience, they pack up the painting in gigantic pizza boxes. The paint is expected to dry in 24-48 hours, though ours took a much longer. I recommend putting the paintings outside on a dry day in the sun to help move that along. Granted ours had a lot of paint on it, but even after 48 hours it was super wet. This is a blast. And it's located in a classic 1990s mall. The kids LOVED this mall, complete with a Spencers gift store, bowling alley and reptile interactive experience. In fact, we'll probably come back here again once the winter sets in since there are so many things here to do with kids inside.

Event: Regular Splatter Paint Session to celebrate a couple birthdays…read more The space: The Splatter Room is located inside the Manassas Mall and is not located near an entrance so give yourself extra time if you have a reservation. The studio itself is cute with tons of display pieces and splatter paint artwork for you to look at that gets you in the mood to paint! The splatter paint room had really sticky floors which kept ripping my painting boots off. The experience: The splatter paint experience itself was fun! Before heading in, you put on a big thin white suit with a hood, rubber gloves, rubber booties, and plastic glasses. Make sure to wear clothes you don't mind getting stained because the clothing they give you doesn't work well to protect your clothes. We had to spend a lot of the time cleaning up in the bathroom afterwards which definitely should have been avoided by the establishment. You get about 6 bottles of primary colored paint, a paintbrush, and little cups to mix the colors. However, you can't easily splatter the colors you mix because the paint isn't in bottles at that point. Only one paintbrush was provided with no water so we couldn't reuse the paintbrush. You have an hour to do it but you really only need about 20 minutes. They give you a big box to easily take your painting home in. The service: Terrible. We walked in and no staff member approached or acknowledged us until we said something. The first girl we interacted with was rude and impatient with us. The main guy we worked with explained all the rules and how tos in a very confusing manner and he also spoke really low which was frustrating. Our group of young women couldn't hear most of what he said and he didn't clarify well. Overall, I had fun splattering paint with my friends and will be hanging what I made but I don't ever plan on coming back here and wouldn't recommend it.

We've never worked with glass before, but the staff explained the decorative options well and had plenty of materials and tools available. The staff was always helpful and very friendly, and did a great job supervising the class and helping out when needed. We paid the extra $10 each to 'slump' our flat glass discs into bowl shape after they are melted. I would have liked a slightly curved plate option but that wasn't available. This requires a second run through the kiln, so the price is understandable. Sadly, it may take up to 4 weeks for the plates to finish the fusing process, although we saw some finished examples that looked gorgeous. I had one minor complaint, and that's only because I'm being nit-picky: the staff was hard to find sometimes during the class. There were plenty of staff members there, I just kept forgetting who they were since they didn't have nametags or aprons or anything to identify them.

I enjoyed the small class as it felt more personable and by the end all of us were chit chatting and having a great time. Our instructor Kim was very helpful and fun. The event was 3 hours which I think was perfect. I liked that we painted and then took small breaks to let the paint dry. It wasn't just paint, paint, paint. The shop is super cute and very clean. I can't wait to go back for another Sip n' Paint event or a glass fusion class! Kim said she wanted to try doing a jewelry making class which I would definitely attend! If your looking for a relaxing and fun night out with your girlfriends, significant other or anyone I highly recommend checking one of these events out!
