Expert Repairs - Jewelry Repair Near Me - Palm Desert, California

Been in here about 3-4x. Only had one notable good customer experience seeing things in the cases. The stars I am giving it are for uniqueness in inventory but otherwise service is mid and prices are beyond high. You can find almost all the same items on Etsy, 14k gold for half the price. read more

I've been going to Joseph (owner) for years. He's the BEST jewelry repair in the desert! Joseph does amazing work and doesn't charge like all the others shops in the desert. Go Exert Repairs. You will not be disappointed! It's located in Westfield Mall near Dicks. read more

This business provides exceptional service! I have been a client of Joseph for 18 years and he is my go to guy for all jewelry and watch repairs. I have never known him to charge unfair or arbitrary prices for his services and to the contrary I have had him provide services at prices that were only about 20 % of what other jewelry stores quoted for repairs! ( he fixed a ring I had for $75.00 where a jewelry store competitor wanted $ 465.00!!!) He will always have my business and I give him my highest recommendation. read more

Absolutely the worst. Miserable attitude too. I brought in two vintage clocks for repair, explained the problems with both. Repair man said "No problem" promised both were easily within his scope of abilities and he'd have them ready in a week or two, so I left both clocks with him. I heard nothing for several months so I called for an update, got a gruff, "I've been busy" reply. I called again after my clocks had been there FOR ONE FULL YEAR and was told they'd be ready for pick up in two days. I picked up and immediately noticed one clock had not been repaired at all. I asked the same person why and he said it was just too difficult, so he wouldn't charge me for that one but the other clock was fixed and he charged me $300. Pretty steep for the work that was supposed to be done, but I paid and left. I got home and the "repaired" clock ran for about 30 minutes, same as before. I took it to another clock repair shop and he found the clock had a small whittled down piece of WOOD stuck in place to keep the clock running for a brief period and HAD NOT been repaired at all. If the man at Expert Repairs reads this review, he'll remember the clocks. I was completely ripped off by this unethical repair man. I've found a different and honest repair shop who charges a fair price and actually does the work he says he'll do. read more

A good place for all your jewelry repair needs. Good service and fair prices. Located upstairs in the Palm Desert mall.

The owner here is a real jerk. In the last month alone, I've spent $45 on watch batteries (not to mention over the years) and went in yesterday to have a band put on. He wanted to charge me $10 to do it! I have never heard of anyone charging to put on a band which literally takes seconds for them to do! Even charging $15 for a watch battery, particularly when it's not a fine watch, is also over-inflated. He started getting very nasty when I balked at him charging me and went into some tirade about Costco which didn't even make sense. I just left. I will never be back. He's a cheap jerk who doesn't value loyal customers. I don't recommend going here at all. Updated to add: NO ONE HERE DID OR HAS EVERY DONE ANYTHING FOR FREE! THAT IS A TOTAL LIE!! I HAVE ALL THE RECEIPTS TO PROVE IT. And my name is not Mr. Kimber, dummy. I'm a woman and that's my first name!! Doesn't matter anyway. I will never be back. read more

This is a very wonderful, quirky shop and I hope it lives on for many years. Yesterday I took my very precious vintage platinum wedding ring in for a small repair. Within the hour it was repaired, adjusted to my requirements and cleaned beautifully. All for under $100 + tip. Super happy. read more

I was totally disappointed at the service at this place. I took two of my Native American vintage watch cuffs. I wanted to install a turquoise in one of them and a lapis lazuli stone on the other. Both are cabochon cut to be put instead of a watch. My complaint is how unprofessional the guy was in handling my jewelry at the end . He put some jeweler's glue to set each stone on the center in which he manipulated the prongs and he completed the job by getting glue all over the stones and in the silver metal by the edges I just couldn't believed what messy job he left. I told him that I was concerned for the glue to ruined the stones, in which he replied that using a toothpick will clear and take out the glue and that he does this all the time to take the glue off a glass from a watch. I was thinking to myself that these are porous gem stones. He told me that I could start taking the glue off in 24 hours after the stone are set and the glue has dried. I was so excited to have this job done to enjoy my cuffs but instead I feel it was a rip off and an insult to my sense of what is satisfactory professional jewelry repair. There is glue in my stones and it's hard and the toothpick is not doing what he told me it would do and in the process of trying to clean the mess that he left a lot of the patina on my cuff has rubbed off the irony of this is that the name of this shop is "expert repair" read more

What a friendly and helpful Business, the owner was nice enough to put my vintage watch on his time tester machine, which unfortunately, showed how bad the amplitude and frequency of the movement is. I had my wedding rings repaired. They were cut because I had a C-section for my son, and my body was already swollen. I got. My rings back repaired and shining like new. $150 seems a little expensive, but I am glad to have my rings back and never looked like we'd cut it. The sales clerk were very nice. We were on our way to a different jewelry store in the mall to get a watch battery replaced, when we saw Expert Repairs. Since the reviews on Expert Repairs were almost a solid five stars, and the reviews on the other jewelry store were only three stars, we decided to give this place a try. We were not disappointed! Fast, friendly, professional service and the battery was replaced in about 10 minutes. read more

I returned to Expert Repairs for an overhaul on a vintage watch with a rather unusual automatic movement. The watch was from the 1970s and, more likely than not, was never serviced (top tip: if you like your watch, get it serviced regularly). It was running really fast and the power reserve was non-existent. Expert Repairs did a great job bringing this watch back to life. It's running very well now with substantially improved accuracy. It was not an inexpensive service BUT Expert Repairs increased the value of the watch beyond the cost of their hard work. More importantly, the watch is just a joy to wear. Great job! read more

These folks are good people. Les repaired/maintenanced the Howard Miller clock my parents gave me in 2002. It was over 'wind' and the time didn't synchronize with the chime. I didn't know that clocks need to have maintenance. Very professional. I love clocks and when I make my next acquisition, I will start here. They have a great selection of time pieces. read more
