Experimak has become a personal favorite for me. I don't eat out much, but I find myself at Experimak at least twice a week! One of the most amazing things about them is their meals to-go service. Sometimes I get really busy and I don't have time to eat, let alone cook for myself! But I still really want to have some leftovers available for those night time snacks or next day lunches! Before Experimak, that was my constant struggle, but they can help with that!!! The chef at Experimak will cook a delightful homemade meal, package it up, and put it right in your fridge! They use eco-friendly packaging, and they'll even send you a photo of the meal all displayed before packaging it up for you! I have to say, they really go the extra... two steps to the fridge. I've had two meals this way so far! The garlic Parmesan chicken and potatoes were wonderful! Super flavorful with lots of delightful herbs! I wasn't sure if the liquid at the bottom was a cheesy, butter sauce or just extra potato water, but either way, I loved it! And the pasta from the other evening was really something! The sauce had a really fascinating tangy quality to it! I'm not sure if that was because the sauce incorporated pumpkin and butternut squash or if it had something to do with the fact that it was a year old, but whatever the cause, the tang was certainly there! Having eaten a few times at Experimak, I will say, this particular experience took me back to my early college years. Not my like, "I've gotten a hang of this situation" year. No. No. My, "oh crap I'm living on my own now and I have no money and now I have to figure out how to eat?" years. It reminded me, for a few reasons. First, since the meal was served at 8:30 pm (the only available time-slot) it reminded me of the times I used to starve myself because it was too much work to find food, so I would wait until the last possible moment before settling for the leftover popcorn in my room. Truly, I was primed and ready for this meal. We had a bad storm that night, and I wasn't sure if the rumblings were the thunder or my stomach. The dish was a single baked potato. With all the toppings (ALL THE TOPPINGS). This of course fit my early college years, because I ate those constantly--they came in at an easy $1.50. Although my request for a 50:50 ratio tater to topping was denied, I was pleasantly surprised at how the taste of potato wasn't horrifying. I was blessed to enjoy my first dinner at Experimak tonight. The special was pizza by the slice. I chose pepperoni and then chicken with pineapple. The service was great and the owner took time out of their busy schedule to chat while I ate. The pizza was better than Dominos, that's for sure. The price was reasonable and ambiance was very homey. Seating is a bit limited and the chairs are so high it makes the table three feet from your mouth but I must say I look forward to my next meal there. Next time they might even offer something to drink. read more
