The natural surroundings, cenotes, lazy river, and waterslides offer a full day of adventure and relaxation. If you break down the ticket price by the activities included, it's actually a solid overall value. But let's be clear: this is not a 5-Diamond experience. The food is the biggest letdown. The buffet is nothing special--average at best. The fries, in particular, are almost always cold and soggy, thanks to a heating system that doesn't keep up, even when food is freshly made. It's the kind of food that fills you up but doesn't leave an impression. A few tips to help you make the most of your trip: * Buy tickets online in advance - This helps you skip the lines and sometimes score a small discount. * Avoid visiting during election season - Due to Mexican law, no alcohol is served during this time, even at tourist locations. Overall we had a wonderful experience but with major hiccups first they allowed our travel agent to book a dinner reservation to a restaurant that no longer exist and we didn't find out till check in while verifying all of our reservations secondly one of our two reservations to xoximilco was not in the system we canceled and rebooked and at the end of our trip we were being charged for that first reservation that didn't show on the computer which caused the check out to prolong which made us miss our scheduled reservation bus back to the airport. Then they tried to insinuate that it was our fault that we missed our bus a 5-minute checkout turned into a 30 minute checkout because a f****** on their part. on the drive back from xoximilco, there was a group of about 10 people that were clearly intoxicated, being very disruptive and nothing was done about it. Skip the timeshare presentation they told us that we would get a $400 massage and it turned out to be maybe a $70 massage also they say it's an hour and a half from beginning to end and it took over 2 1/2 hours. The all-inclusive is definitely worth it if you eat a lot and drink a lot which is something we did. on our last night there we went to restaurant that supposedly had the tomahawk steaks come to find out they didn't they had sent their meats to another restaurant so that was very disappointing. Always nice to come to Xcaret, although the price has gone up. We paid $150 per adult and it included snorkeling gear and 1 buffet meal. Kids had fun and mom enjoyed swimming in the underground rivers. They also had so many little monkeys running around the park. Do go and visit, help Mexico. read more

What a refreshing wonderful time! The resort was super clean, staff really frequently and extra helpful no mater what the questions or problems. They had a very smooth and easy to operate entrance, booking times to do things like swim with dolphins and the underwater sea trek was great! It might cost a bit of $ but it was well worth the expense to visit. We did the seven course meal and show at the end of he night, the servers were very fun and interactive. The seven course meal served was also very well done and tasty Getting out of the park after the program was also easy The river swim was nice however I recommend shoes for water and verify your life jacket can hold your weight if you are not a strong swimmer. 1400' of slow swimming is a long way to go if your are not prepped. This place is absolutely amazing. We read the reviews before we arrived. Most of these recommended doing dry things first and then participating in water activities. We started doing this and quickly changed our plans (and are grateful we did). It was extremely warm and, for some in my group, quite humid. We floated down the rive and got out at one of the exist/reenter stops. We visited a few places (eg the butterfly exhibit) and when we got hot again we re-entered the river. The river was beautiful. With life preservers on (mandatory) it was not a difficult trip--even for my six year old grandson. Our efforts were rewarded with an an ocean side lunch. (Note: unless you are a super-sized eater we don't recommend the buffet. We had plenty of food at half the price. Afterwards we went to other activities. After lunch we swam in natural salt-water holes/pools and had an amazing time. Then it was back to the exhibits, including the Church of Guadalupe, and the evening show. Please do NOT miss the evening show. Talented singers and actors. Enough for all ages to be thoroughly entertained and moved. Coming by from Estados Unidas I was especially impressed by by the amazing culture. The audience--mostly Mexicans, I assume--seemed equally enthusiastic. Please, please, PLEASE get the foto package. They hype up the purchase of the photo pass, so you don't have to carry your phone around the water. So you purchase the photo pass for $80 and you get to take pictures throughout the park by waving your wrist band. They tell you within 30 days you can download your pictures from the website. Well their IS NO website. It does NOT Woek. Email customerservice@xcaret.com which is the parent company and listed on their website. NO SUCH email address. So last resort was to call 18553260682. Well they give you 3 options to book reservations, cancel reservations and to pay for your reservation. I'm really bummed out and would love to have my photos, but if that's not possible I'd like my money back. I hope This was not a scam?? The park was fun and we had a good time. My husband and I used xcaret and went on the Chichen Itza deluxe tour. It is a bit of a drive to Yucatán from Cancun but our lovely tour guide made it well worth it. He educated us on Mayan history as we got closer and it was so cool to learn. We were served breakfast on the bus. The bus has AC, comfy seats and restrooms. Our guide gave us a great informative tour of chichen itza and then we got an hour of free time to explore on our own. We then went to a cenote which was one of my favorite experiences ever. Afterwards we went to Valladolid and ate lunch at a buffet which was delicious, then we explored and did some shopping. Overall, we thought it was a great experience well worth the time and money. LOVED the Chichen (Xichen) Classic tour. Long tour since it's 11-12 hours, but it was (mostly) well organized! We were picked up on time in front of our hotel in the Hotel Zone. It was a large charter bus and we then went straight to some place to transfer to another charter bus. This process took about an hour. I would take down another star since this was a waste of time, but our tour guide, Omar, was so fantastic that I forgot about the inconvenience in the morning. I've been on many tours, but Omar was an especially enthusiastic, knowledgeable tour guide. His English is fluent and I had no trouble listening to him. When he talks, it's like listening to a story and he made Mayan history captivating to learn about. As for logistics, I thought the tour was mostly well spaced out. Half an hour at Valladolid is enough (it's like Macau). Two hours at Cenote Ik Kil and lunch buffet. Two hours at Chichen Itza. I do wish maybe another 20-30 minutes at the Cenote would be great since there were lines getting lockers and life jackets. As you can tell from the ordering of the three locations, we visited Chichen Itza LAST. We arrived at 2:30pm and it was hot but luckily not excruciating hot. Perhaps it's like this in mid-May. It would be great to visit the pyramid first then have a refreshing swim at the Cenote last. After all, these two places are only five minutes apart from each other. Anyhow, I like how this company gives you a cool water bottle for Chichen Itza (though I would recommend bringing an extra water bottle). Wifi is also provided in their charter buses, but it can get spotty at times. Lastly, the wristband they give you includes a cool perk to go to a viewing tour at Km 4 for free. read more

We booked our tour through Excursion travel in Nyx Hotel with Diego (which was horrible). We got the deluxe package to visit Chichén Itzá. After our bus didn't come on the promised date, our tour was moved the day after. Our bus came to pick us up at 7AM and we were brought to the Xcaret hub in Cancun where we had to get on another bus to take us to Chichén Itzá. Our tour guides, Reyvis and Santos were the most pleasant individuals that took their time to explain everything in English and Spanish cohesively. We were given breakfast during the ride around 9AM and the breakfast pack consisted of orange juice, corn bread and a ham and cheese sandwich. Reyvis and Santos talked us through about the history of Chichen Itzá on our way to the historic site and kept the whole bus entertained. Readers beware! Bring sunscreen and bug spray. It gets really hot while the guides are doing the tour and there are a lot of bugs in the Cenote and Chichén Itza. It was wonderful to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World and learn about the Mayan culture. There are a lot of souvenirs that you can buy off from the locals inside the park or Chichén Itzá. Buyers, take my advise and try to haggle the price when buying souvenirs. Not saying that what they're doing is bad but you can buy something that they offer for $35USD for $10USD. After the tour of the park, Reyvis and Santos brought us to a buffet in Valladolid. The buffet was meh and we honestly expected more authentic Mexican cuisine but it is a tour so I shouldn't have expected Michelin tasting dishes. We went to the Cenote in Valladolid afterwards and took some pictures. We did not swim in the Cenote as it was not included in the deluxe package. I can recommend this tour to anyone who hasn't tried it yet as it is not only educational but also a fun, exciting experience. read more

The whole week we spent here the best time was spent with Ex.Xc and they are awesome every staff is excited to see you and answer your dumb questions even when you ask a lot. We went to cenotes, the Xcaret park, and Xichen itza! They were great I can't wait to come back. I know for a fact I want to come back just for what Xcaret experiences have to offer. My partner and I had a blast! We want to stay in the hotel of Xcaret next time so we don't have to deal with the pressure of the guys at the mercado ever step we take. The jungle and river was the best hour spent. It takes a while to finish the maya river path but it's beautiful fresh. The water is cold at first but warms up super fast. The cenotes was my favorite I felt the second death once I jumped into the mouth of the monster to the underworld. Hopefully your tour guide is JESUS! HE ROCKS! He was so informative and knows literally everything about the Mayan best archeologist I've ever met. Plus the only bit still. He was great I would recommend him for any tour to any one. People from other groups seeing us have fun and couldn't take their eyes off of our group we were all interactive with our group. This excursion was a mixed bag of excellent and not so good. I'll try to be fair for both. We purchased the 'xcaret plus' pass on the advice of our advisor at our resort. We were told it included 'meals, lockers and everything'. That was not entirely true but, as he was not an xcaret employee, I can't hold them responsible. 'Plus' will get you the use of one locker per person (you'll want this), and a lunch buffet at one of the 5 restaurants at the park. Nothing more. Our resort was a fair distance from the park. We were told that transportation would take about 2 hours, they were off by about an hour. Our 6:25am departure arrived at xcaret just after 10am. The drive to the park was narrated by a representative of xcaret. He told us briefly about the parks free activities and then, at great length, described the numerous things we could do for an additional charge. This continued for roughly an hour. Included with an 'xcaret plus' admission: Cenotes cave swim, aviary, butterfly conservatory, lunch, park grounds and about a dozen aquatic or land animal exhibits. There is also an inlet for snorkelling where about 50-100 kids chase a handful of fish around. Not included: Jet boat extreme ride, dolphin experience, swim with sharks, parasailing, sting ray experience, scuba walk, off shore snorkelling and SNUBA. Basically everything that was over and above what you might find at a regular zoo anywhere. Each of these activities was available for between $50-100 USD per person. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. There are many places to sit both shaded and in full sun so when you need a break (and you will), you won't have to look far. If you get thirsty make sure you're ready to pay up. An undrinkable margarita in a park glass cost a shocking 400 pesos. The park does kindly offer water bottle filling stations in many locations. Snacks and souvenirs are similarly very expensive. Cashiers were not very busy as a result. Included in your admission is a swim/float in an extensive underground cave waterway. It was quite a nice relaxing float for the most part however people swimming with fins or otherwise trying to get through quickly can and will hit you while trying to pass as the tunnels are quite narrow in places. The tour operator will encourage you to do this activity first which does mean that everyone enters it at the same time making the congestion and chaos a bit too much. My advice would be to explore the park for a bit first and avoid joining at first. It would have been an excellent experience if not so crowded. The guide on the bus tried to upsell us on so many things it became hard to keep track. My spouse likened it to a time share sales pitch and I'd have to agree. He told us (many, many,.....many times) that we needed to by the photo package. The other upsells included all of the various attractions, the other options for the evening show and then concluded with him offering to personally sell us water proof phone cases and bug repellant for which he had a personal discount over the prices charged in the resort store. Do not buy the bug repellant. We were there in Feb and didn't see a single insect. I'm not sure if other times of the year are different. In between the sales pitch, the guide did offer some reasonable guidance on how to navigate the park and where to go to find your bus for the return home. As your included lunch only allows you to eat at one of 5 restaurants I can only comment on my experience at the one offering 'international and seafood'. Everything there was pretty basic and flavourless. If you have kids this may be the spot as it has basics like hot dogs, fries and chicken fingers are included along with the other offerings. There are cameras strategically placed around the park that will take your photo when you scan your armband. It's a nice feature but it will cost you upwards of $69 to obtain your images online. This must be paid at the park. There is an evening cabaret show that runs from 7-9pm. We were given the choice of getting on a return bus either before or after the show. We chose to purchase one of the many upsells and sat for the dinner at the show ($79usd pp). It was a lot of cash but it was a lovely 7-course gourmet meal served by an excellent waiter. I would recommend it. You will be tired and hot at the end of a long day but the show is worth staying for. It's a kind of trip through the history of Mexico and we found it very entertaining. One comment I would have is that the resort staff are universally excellent and polite. They are a large part of why my star rating isn't a bit lower. Our favourite parts of the trip were the aviary, butterfly pavilion and show. The negative were the costs, constant up selling and lack of activities that were available without up-charge. I was there with my best friend about a week ago! We did two tours with them (Xcaret and Xichen). The bus picked us up in front of the hotel each morning. On time. None of the buses we took had bathrooms since they were always out of service (This sucks considering you're traveling in that same bus pretty much all day!) The park itself was amazing and totally recommend it regardless of the tour you pick. There was a buffet meal included with our package each day however they had zero accommodation for people with food or gluten allergies (even though I contacted them about it before) so I ended up eating sabritas chips for two days, it wasn't fun. They don't even let you bring your own food into the parks so if you have allergies, you're pretty much screwed. The staff didn't seem to care. Other than those couple of things I do recommend this tour! Improvements can be done but overall it was an okay experience. read more

I chose this because we went to Xplor Adventures as part of the Xcaret experience. Located on south side of Playa Del Carmen, south of the Hotel Zone. Visit Day or Night. Xplor Adventures is a MIND BLOWING experience. We went at night starting at 5:30pm (sunset 6:15). Get there early and be the first in line prior to opening. (Just like Disneyland!) Make sure to wear a bathing suit and water shoes; AND extra dry clothes & shoes. TRUST ME on this one. Once checked in, they will issue you a locker key and helmet (MUST be worn at ALL times in the park for safety reasons), the helmet has a sensor that activates the cameras around the property for photo souvenirs. Our activities on THIS adventure: 1) Zip lining: 2.4 miles from 9 towers, height range 25m-55m .... and once you start, you HAVE to finish, there is NO early stopping; 2) ATV: well over 30 minutes with multiple tight turns, 6 downhills into caves/caverns/passages (2 in water), numerous bridges, and passing zones. The path went all around the entire complex .... it was like the Indiana Jones ride but BETTER!!!!! 3) River swim: 2 choices 350 meters or 25 meters .... It was dark and water level was deep in some places, so we did 25 meters. Fun & Scary. 4) River rafting: uses hand-paddles, NOT a regular paddle, covers 378 meters and IT IS a workout on the arms and coordination. 5) Hammock zip line: goes into the water, best when air temp is hot, it was cold that night. 6) EATING: BEST FOOD yet, even better than the hotels. Go figure, it's like Disney where there food needs to be high-quality. Beef ribs, short ribs, fish, chicken wings, corn on the cob, pizza, pasta, etc. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED when visiting Cancun, Mexico area. read more

Absolute shitshow of a company. They gave us incorrect directions on where to meet for pickup then would not respond to our messages. Forget about calling them it's not possible to get through. Finally we get a message telling us to meet at the parking lot so we go immediately after reading the message and waited and waited. Two hours go by meanwhile we are trying to get a response. Finally they tell us the driver came by 2 hours ago didn't see us and left. He did not bother to call us or check the front door of the hotel where most tours pick people up. This is an amusement park for the lack of a better description that is very expensive you pay for the trip to the park and it includes very little that is in the flier for the fee. The park is beautiful the I visited Xelha I will not do another of these. Once on the bus ( long trip from Cancun) they begin to tell you what is not included in your entrance(think Disneyland in the 70's you pay for everything except for the entrance) the food is average is included and drinks at the restaurant included. So once committed you end up buying the options because you are stuck at the park for 8+ hours I should have done my research hope this helps someone. I really enjoyed the bus ride to and from Chichén Itzá and Xcaret. They picked us up and on the way there spent some time telling everyone about Chichén Itzá and Xcaret (two different tours, two different days) the guys taking us to Chichén Itzá were funny. Santiago was the driver (props to this guy for all the diving he does) Manuel was another on the team, telling us a lot about where we were going and about Mayans and then about Mexico in general. He also told us how he came to be where he is at now. He cracked a few jokes and before I knew it, the 3 hour ride was over. Edwin was our tour guide once we hit Chichén Itzá and he was great. That place was absolutely amazing. The temple is jaw dropping, and so is the ball court. I highly recommend this place if you go on an excursion, it's worth the drive. Xcaret was just as amazing. We saw ruins, swam through a cave (which is more fun than it might sound), went snorkeling and swan with a Sting Ray and had a blast walking around checking everything out. Both were amazing experiences and it's tough to recommend one over the other so I will tell you this.... Flip a coin! You'll enjoy it regardless!!!! read more

I was very disappointed with this experience, i paid for experiences included in my payment but were all closed but one. the picture package that i paid for with no directons on how/where to take pictures paid for and recieved them with other peoples pictures. For the price only 1 restaurant was included between 12-5pm buffet style but the food was dry; no flavor; there wasnt much of an international feel to it... spaghetti(dry no flavore) =italian sushi (dry with no flavore)=japanese the bbq chicken was under cooked. very very disappointed. all the other restaurants had to be paid. The extravaganza was too long my fave was the old man dancing but the show should have given more background for non speaking spanish folks. ONe good thing was our waiter; again i forgot his name but he spoke really good english and is very attentive and friendly; The bus guide was very friendly and spoke perfect english and helped us the only non speaking spanish on the bus. read more

We decided to purchase the plus package that came with several items, including transportation and the night show (expectacular). From the Aloft hotel, we only had to walk across the street and down a little to the pick up spot, their headquarters. We paid a total of $359 just for that. Still had to pay for extra activities, so we went ahead with the pictures package ($69 for 2 people) and the Adrelalina boat ($85/person). That was pretty cool to do, but overpriced in my opinion. And, they still push you to tip the guides, boat drivers, etc. Even the bus drivers and guide to and from push for tips. The park is mostly a tropical park where you do a lot of walking to see an aquarium, aviary, manatees, etc. Since we got the plus package, snorkle equipment was included. We tried that, but the masks fogged up alot, and water was very murkey. Plus there were a ton of kids and people in general in there. Got kicked alot. We did enjoy the underground river, but same thing, a lot of people splashing, kids yelling, etc. River is moving so you have to do work to move. Overall, I think this park was very overpriced. I wouldn't do it again, and would not recommend it to friends and family. Not to mention, in August it is so humid, we literally sweat the entire time. The bus ride home was very smelly. read more

Experiencias Xcaret was the tour agency that led the Chichen Itza tour, although I actually booked my tours through a middle company called "Wow Excursions". Experiencias Xcaret could not pick me up from my "hotel" because I was staying at an Airbnb, even though I offered them to pick my group up at the closest hotel near my airbnb. Anyways, I had to bus to their other meeting point along the Hotel Zone... Once they pick everyone up, they shuttle you to their terminal where everyone gets off the pick up bus and makes their way onto their correct tour buses. I was lucky enough to get on a bus that was too full so they pushed my group and 8 other people onto another bus. I was dissappointed that the tour bus didn't actually leave Cancun until 8:45am and with the 2.5 hour commute to the ruins, our tour didn't actually start till 11:45am...They first do a guided tour with a tour guide from Experiencias Xcaret, NOT a archeologist that was stated in tour description...The guided tour last an hour and then depending how much time is left, they give you 30 minute to 1 hr for "free time" where one can run around or take photos of the ruins etc. Depending if you got a "Deluxe tour package" or not, you go to Vallolid for a lunch buffet (which wasn't bad in my opinion) and then visit a cenote within Vallolid. The overall tour experience wasn't bad in my opinion but I recommend tourists to email the company a head of time to get an idea of the itinerary instead of just showing up on the tour day and getting thrown off about everything. When in Quitanna Roo, Cancun, Mexico, we all know that you have to barter with the street vendors and watch out for Taxi cab drivers,GPS helps there, but still barter with them as well. But would you ever think corporate Mexico would screw you over, well they do. Xcaret company that runs several theme parks doubles the price on foreigners, went to Xel Ha with my fiancee and I paid double. Have you ever heard of Disney Land or Universal Studios changing their prices based on Natiionalities, NO, lets call them and have them do it just to Mexicans visiting their parks. Xcaret is already hurting from covid, don't visit their establishments and see if they think again about being a typical Mexican. read more

Reserved the Chichen Itza Classico tour with departure from Playa del Carmen, about US$67pp. Was under the impression that the early pick up time would mean early arrival to beat the crowds & heat, but nope. Pick up was at 730am, but we did not reach the ruins until 1230pm. That is 5hrs, folks, for a commute that is estimated at about 2hrs. We got there RIGHT at the peak time of crowds & heat. Figured that at least for the return, we'd make up some time, but nope. For the return, we left Ik Kil Cenote at 430pm, we did not reach our hotel until 830pm. Another 4hrs for a commute that is estimated at about 2hrs. You get about 2hrs at the ruins, 1hr at the cenote. So 9hrs bus time for 3hrs at the ruins/cenote. If you'd rather have those numbers reversed, where the majority of your time is spent exploring the ruins/cenote than on a bus, recommend going a different venue. The 3 stars here are for the lovely guides who were passionate about sharing the Mayan history & culture. read more

In fairness before I post it is June 24th so it was HOT! The place is neat but really crowded. The highlighted floating river experience was so crowded you were almost always within arms reach of a stranger. All of the strangers were nice by the way. The water was natural complete with smells and floating debris. The included lunch was okay. Did I mention it was sweaty hot all day. Thankfully we brought a change of clothes for the ride home and there are showers throughout the park. I would not say it's terrible but I gave it 2 stars for cost when combined with the crowds and the two bus rides that were over and hour. Amazing does not begin to describe this tour company and the experiences provided! Our amazing tour guide was Miguel Fisher and Elizabeth was the photographer for the day. Our excursion was exploring different cenotes and it did not disappoint. Miguel was funny, motivated, encouraging, knowledgeable and everything a tour guide should be. We did zip lining, kayaking, snorkeling and swimming through these cenotes (all were a short driving distance which was done by Miguel on the tour bus). Great Chichen Itza tour experience. They picked us up straight from our hotel, made a couple of stops along the way to break up the trip. We did the package where we got to swim in the cenote. The included buffet is nothing special, but we didn't do it for the food. Our guides were very knowledgeable about Chichen Itza and we learned a lot from them. I had booked the xentos tour and they changed the pick up time for my reservation and "emailed" me days prior to my reservation. I never got the email. After waiting 45 minutes to get picked up, we called and they told us the time was an hour before. All of our paperwork AND the app said 9:15, they claim it was 8:15. To "make up" for the mishap they gave us tickets to xplor fuego and told us to be ready by 3pm. After waiting over 30 minutes (3:30pm) we called because we never got picked up. They told us to just take a taxi to the park and they would drop us off afterwards. Totally not acceptable and completely ruined my birthday. What was the point of trying to "make it right" if they just messed it up all over again. They never gave us an answer as to why we never got picked up the second time. Which made it even more frustrating. They offered to give us a discount to come back. I tried twice to get to the park why would I take a discount to go back? Just a waste of a whole day. My daughter and I Jessika went Xel Ha while we were down in Cancun we had an amazing time while in the park you can just walk up to one of the many bars and drink margaritas as you walk around swimming with the stingrays it was beautiful like swimming in a fish tank with all the colorful fish we purchased the picture package where they take your picture and you pay for the pictures and they download them to you and when you leave there you have a certain amount of Time to download those photos if you don't then they just go away when I got home my mom had passed away so I lost track of time and did not have a chance to download them I emailed them and they were nice enough to send them to me again and you saved my photos I want to thank you very much you don't know how much that means to me thank you ,Lora read more

Although the entire experience while being there was amazing, the customer service afterward was not. we bought the picture package which translates to about $100. The package expires a month after the purchase. i tried contacting customer service since April (3 weeks after my trip). it is now October. 6 months after and still nothing resolved. i cannot get my pictures nor my money. I've provided everything they have asked for numerous of times and within the same day. asked to speak to a different representative as well, and still nothing. i also had issues with my camera, which luckily 4 months after my trip, it got resolved only because I had to send someone to pick it up because they did not work with FedEx to ship it back to the US. read more

Pick up is at your hotel but they leave you in the dark about how long the drive will take, and in the end you go to a transportation center where you catch another bus to your destination. Fine but just make that clear! They also upsell at every possible turn. You MUST upgrade to Xcaret Plus, must do x y and z. In the end it's a huge rip off. Be prepared to spend serious $$$$$ if you want pictures, etc. BRING A WATERPROOF PHONE CASE so you don't have to buy one for 35 USD at the park. read more
