I will preface this review by saying I hope it doesn't sound too critical because it was overall a…read morepositive worship experience. We attended this church by an invitation of our family members who are regular attendees. Initial impression of atmosphere was pleasant enough, but I felt they were not particularly visitor-friendly since no one spoke to us (in their defense, we were sort of rushing to proceed to find our seats and sit down as the service was already in progress at 10:30 when we arrived). Since this church celebrates Eucharist weekly (well about that, there was no words of institution to speak of, so I felt they were just going through the motion), there were communion elements in plastic containers made available on a table at the entrance to the sanctuary for you to pick them up without any words of explanation--again I thought it was not too visitor-friendly. Good contemporary praise & worship music selections. Service is well-organized and gives an impression of well-polished/rehearsed appearance. Nothing sloppy about this worship service from the beginning to the end--excellent. A children's pastor got up and proceeded to speak quite at length on why only child dedication was permitted and not baptism. I felt very awkward and alienated since we come from a church tradition where children are baptized as infants as our two children are. I didn't understand why they had to go out of their way to alienate a group of believers when the Bible does not explicitly prohibit infant baptism and suggests such practice occurred when the entire household of faith was baptized in to the fellowship of believers. Anyway... I thought pastor's preaching was to the point, and he delivered a very good message on fasting (though I had a question about his illustration of personal experience he used to make the main point). At the conclusion of the service we helped to put away chairs as it was the last service (second) of the day and left. I'd say it was a better than average experience overall. I hope they will make more efforts to better welcome visitors...

The Pastors, Elders, Deacons, Stephen Ministers, and congregation at large are friendly, loving people who work closely to create a sense of belonging for everyone, from the people who have grown up in the RCCPC community to those who are searching for a new church home. We're resolved  to care for each other by celebrating our lives and the gifts that God gives us and by comforting each other when tragedy and loss break our hearts.  We nurture each other. Join a nurture group and meet with friends old and new to chat about the weekly sermon, join an art club, attend our monthly Tuesday Together luncheon, or join our ROMEOS group and you'll be sure to find someone you've got something in common with to share God's loving spirit. Children are welcomed to our Sunday school, confirmation program, huge youth group, and Vacation Bible School. At Red Clay it's totally cool to be Christian and your kids will love it. We reach out near and far. If you are looking for a church community who actively seeks to help others through lasting relationships come to Red Clay. We reach out to our local community with our yearly 5K for mission engaging families in a fun-filled day opening with a 5-k walk/run, culminating in a spring fling community day when families can enjoy activities for kids as well as grownups. We partner with organizations in Wilmington to fight homelessness and support women in transitional housing programs and give urban youth a chance for success. Regionally, we deploy over 75 people (from teens to retirees) per year to work on housing projects in rural Maine and Appalachia and over 30 to Costa Rica and South Africa. We build lasting friendships with our partners in mission and gain as much as we give. We celebrate Gods incredible love. If you're a person who seeks a quiet and contemplative service we offer an early service where you'll find comfort and reflection. If you love an energetic, laughter-filled, multi-generational, musically diverse service join us at 10 am. If you're looking for something a little different, perhaps a little less structure and more informal, join us at the Cornerstone at 6 pm for our contemporary service.  Like all churches, it takes a little time to get used to the activity, energy, and culture. But, if you give yourself a chance, it's likely you'll find someone, or something about this church that makes you want to come again. We welcome you, we pray for you and would love to meet you.

Good luck ----- After attending and supporting Hope Community Church for over 10 years myself and my family needed to stop attending and supporting this church. We supported it by volunteering and through tithes. The reason for two stars and not one. The good The children's program is okay and it is in KOP. The bad They aren't interested in getting to know YOU much less your name. They aren't interested in you volunteering unless you are in one of the clicks. See more on that later. The Pastor has been caught multiple times plagiarizing his sermons. The Elder board covers for the leaders instead of standing up for the church body. They rarely follow their own bylaws. At best the tithes are not used efficiently. (The leadership is paid huge amounts money and benefits (and they do everything they can to hide this fact); they don't following their own teaching about borrowing money or paying or back. The "cliche'" in this church are unbreakable. If you are not in the "in" crowd forget it. Just hand in your tithe and deal with it. The buildings aren't finished and have code violations - even in the youth building. Most of the technology is outdated and some could even be considered unsafe. The music and production is below average. The sound is too loud and harsh. The projectors are old and blurry. I hear they finally fixed the lighting so that you aren't left in the dark in the middle of a service. Surprise! Roughly 40% of the congregation that has attended for a decade or more has left for another local church over the past 24 months. There is more but I think I made my point. Find your God family at a place that lives for Jesus. God Bless.
