The Bible tells believers "do not grow weary in well-doing". IMO we must remember the purpose of the local church is to point people to the saving grace of Jesus and to serve one another... I was disappointed to see a negative post because VFB was not able/willing to provide Uber-like services to a Philadelphia Hospital for someone who never took the time to come to a service or reach out in any other way to get to know the mission, message or purpose of this local church which helps SO many non-members from its community. If you're looking for perfection or a solution to your problems, look to Christ first. If you're looking to serve and grow as a person, family, etc. visit VFB. It might be just where God wants YOU! read more

I'm cancer survivor and need a small surgery date drive because the procedure doesn't not allow me use Uber. I have no family here and work day not good for my neighbor, I called this church the lady's who answer phone was very cold, said "we are all busy no one can help". I admire peoples time I already explained I took Uber went to hospital myself, reduce waiting time, just pick me back from Penn to my home only 20 mins driving time. Was sad when need help but people of the church treat me in such cold attitude. read more

I want to start by saying that this church really disappointed me. It wasn't what I thought a church should be like, and it honestly made me feel pretty upset. Don't get me wrong--I think Pastor Wendell is a really nice guy, and his teaching was good. But when I was little, between the ages of four and eight, I went to this church, and those years taught me that not all churches are what they seem. Some don't really feel like they're there for you. I do believe all Christian churches are trying to worship God and teach people about Him, but this church seems to have lost its way. It felt like they cared more about their school than the actual church. I remember being in Sunday school and getting bullied by kids just because I didn't go to their academy. And honestly, it wasn't just the kids. Some of the Sunday school teachers, who were also teachers at the school, would say things about me being homeschooled or ask rude questions about my mom in a way that didn't feel kind at all. My mom also had a rough time there. She was always volunteering in the children's ministry, but she rarely got to attend the service herself. They would just put her on the schedule without asking, so she never got to hear the message. At the church we go to now, there's a rule that you have to attend one of the services before you volunteer, and I think that's such a good idea because it makes sure you're getting something out of it too. Another big issue was how judgmental people could be. My mom wore jeans instead of skirts, and people would make comments about it, like that wasn't "church-appropriate." I get that dressing modestly is important, but it's not right for people to judge others for not following some unspoken dress code. It made us feel like we didn't belong. The thing that bothered me the most, though, was how much the church focused on their school. They even built a big extension, and I thought it would be for more worship space, but it was just for the school. It feels like they care more about running the school than taking care of the people in the church. A church should be about the church family, not just another program. I really hope this church has gotten better over the years. I'll still pray for them, but honestly, it's hard to believe they've changed much. I just hope they remember what being a church is really about--caring for people, loving others, and helping everyone grow closer to God. read more

I have been a part of this wonderful church for 38 yrs. The first time I attended there were approximately 31 people total. We met in Upper Merion Middle School. I have watched it build in numbers and the various building projects. Our Pastor has lead us in his gentle loving way and God has blessed us greatly. Yes, our facilities are amazing but we have always been financially careful. Supporting Missions has always been a high priority for VFBT and I am sure that is one of the reasons the Lord has blessed us. We have many activities for families to be part of. All of our workers - from nursery up have criminal background checks so parents can rest at ease when they drop their children off while they go to their adult classes. If you are looking for a loving church family you need to check us out. read more

Valley Forge Baptist is one of the greatest churches I have ever been a part of. "The Caring Church" is such a fitting moniker for this place as you feel like you are with family constantly. And all of this stems from the pastor, Scott Wendal. He is such a kind and loving man. If you and your family are looking for a warm, friendly place that will love your family and feed you spiritually, then Valley Forge Baptist is the place. read more

I recommend this church to everyone interested in the uncompromised Word of God. This is a truly caring church for the whole family. The pastors and staff are all wonderful God loving people as well as the people that make up the church. read more

We attended this church by an invitation of our family members who are regular attendees. Initial impression of atmosphere was pleasant enough, but I felt they were not particularly visitor-friendly since no one spoke to us (in their defense, we were sort of rushing to proceed to find our seats and sit down as the service was already in progress at 10:30 when we arrived). Since this church celebrates Eucharist weekly (well about that, there was no words of institution to speak of, so I felt they were just going through the motion), there were communion elements in plastic containers made available on a table at the entrance to the sanctuary for you to pick them up without any words of explanation--again I thought it was not too visitor-friendly. Good contemporary praise & worship music selections. Service is well-organized and gives an impression of well-polished/rehearsed appearance. Nothing sloppy about this worship service from the beginning to the end--excellent. A children's pastor got up and proceeded to speak quite at length on why only child dedication was permitted and not baptism. I felt very awkward and alienated since we come from a church tradition where children are baptized as infants as our two children are. I didn't understand why they had to go out of their way to alienate a group of believers when the Bible does not explicitly prohibit infant baptism and suggests such practice occurred when the entire household of faith was baptized in to the fellowship of believers. Anyway... I thought pastor's preaching was to the point, and he delivered a very good message on fasting (though I had a question about his illustration of personal experience he used to make the main point). At the conclusion of the service we helped to put away chairs as it was the last service (second) of the day and left. I'd say it was a better than average experience overall. I hope they will make more efforts to better welcome visitors...

The parking lot is pretty tight, but if you get there early, you should get a good spot. We were greeted immediately by the church staff, who were just delightful. They really made us feel welcome. They helped get us comfortable and offered us doughnuts and coffee. Yum! They ushered us into the main church room and gave us a run down of what was going to happen. They read an Easter Bunny story to the children, then moved them into the activities room. In this room, the children could dye eggs, play games, decorate cookies, guess how many jelly beans in a jar, and more. Once they finished their activities the children were moved back into the church room to do their hunt. It was a fair hunt too. Each child recieved an egg carton and could fill the carton of the same color egg in the carton. It made the game fair and each child recieved 12 eggs. It was great. My daughter left so happy and wanted to go back. We definitely be back next year. Thank you for a great time!

The sanctuary is beautiful, with windows on three sides, giving you a real sense of the change of seasons. While in the service you can watch the birds chirping behind the minister - or the leaves turning, or the snow falling. The sanctuary isn't temperature controlled too well, but it is enough the it is still quite pleasant. The people are amazing. The very first time I went I was welcomed with warm smiles and conversation. When I was out due to injury for a couple of weeks I had someone email me to ask if everything was okay - and they sent a get-well card! As a single person with no nearby family I was welcomed at the Thanksgiving table of one of the members (who has become a good friend). If you're looking for a welcoming home to feel like family, this is the place for you, regardless of faith, race, age or orientation.

I was a member of Valley Forge Baptist for over 10 years and loved it. I have recently moved on so that I may worship with my family and grandson. At VFB the Lord gave me the privilege of beginning a local sports ministry through our church. We have had the men's and ladies' local community teams in our church facility dozens of times. These teams are so appreciative of our willingness to share our facility with them in the winter time. Our church is also the only sponsor of their Youth Team. This is just one example of the love of Christ displayed to members of our community. You may see reviews that include complaints of this church family, but my decade long experiences is of a church family that is caring and compassionate, I would encourage you to attend one Sunday and find out for yourself firsthand how wonderful the people are. I am SO incredibly thankful for this ministry. I had the wonderful privilege of growing up here in the children's and teen's ministries (as well as the Academy for K-12th grades), and after living out of state for my college/young adult years, it's been a blessing having moved back to this area and to be able to be a part of it again. There is no question in my mind where I would go to church here in this area of PA. Having known the ministry and Pastor Wendal for 25 years, I can personally say that it is a place that loves God and loves people, and will help you in your walk with God. I love our emphasis on always making sure the gospel is shared and of the passion we have for missions around the world, too. I also love that it has something for everyone!! :) read more

Since my last review (along with 11 other positive reviews of this church) did not make the cut for YELP, I thought I would try again. My husband and I found this church 3 weeks after we were married and raised all 3 of our children regularly attending services here. Our closest friends attend here, and we have listened for many years to Pastor's very practical preaching on parenting, marriage and how to live godly. If you are sick, these people sign up to make meals - they are truly family. If that is something you are looking for - teaching from God's word and people that love you - then this is the place for you. read more

Valley Forge Baptist is Home! I have had the privilege to be a part of this church family for over 20 years! The pastors and people truly feel like family and their love for Jesus and other people is very clear to see! I love worshipping at VFB and hearing the Word of God clearly presented each week! The music is so beautiful as well but the love shown through the people of this church is beyond description! I would highly recommend visiting us and experiencing it all yourself! On our first visit, nearly 25 years ago, we knew that this Pastor walked with God. The congregation followed his leadership in friendliness and genuine desire to serve God and minister to others. Since that visit, the church has grown a lot in size AND in the opportunities to reach our community for Christ. From sporting tournaments to VBS and Awana to Food Truck Days and several yearly Mission trips, VFBT strives to reach an ever-changing society by bringing them the never-changing Word of God. My wife and I first visited Valley Forge Baptist Temple on a Sunday morning in 1989 when there were less than 100 people in attendance. Over the years we have been back many times when visiting in the greater Philly area. We have seen the church dramatically grow for the simple reason that they preach the Bible and care about people. My family has attended here for decades. It is filled with good people endeavoring to walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. Of course, no one has ever done that perfectly, but we are certainly trying. This church is filled with people of different backgrounds--ethnically, nationally, politically, economically, and more. If I could describe this place in one world it would be warmth . From the moment you enter the facilities you are greeted with joy. VFBT helped me ( Sri Vani Sulam ) in committing marriage immigration after living with my husband for 5 weeks. After getting the money I needed from my past marriage I remarried.
