Danny always does an amazing job with my son & nephew's cut. Vibe here is chill. They have a hair salon in the back where I imagine Dotti hooks up the ladies. Great lessons listening to the men chat too. Book in advance. Sometimes you have to wait if a person runs late or over. Ive booked with Danny, CJ and Anthony. ALL cuts satisfied. Will return! read more

Walk-ins are an hour long wait. I walked-in, and they told me they got me next, but it eventually began to be 2 people in front of me. The first person that was in the chair was a kid, which is understandable, but the second was a man, and he had a beard. How long does it take to cut a beard. Regardless, the communication for this place is a** when it comes to customer and barber. I warn you before you go to this place. Make sure you have a scheduled appointment otherwise, you not going to be in a good position to get a haircut. read more

An hour long wait for the quality that these men do isn't bad at all! You would think sitting in the chair would take longer. They work efficiently & with much care/detail! Love it! read more

Review for Dotti, Master Loctician. I've been to all the Locticians in the area and Dotti is the best. She's professional, punctual and uses the best quality products on your hair. She not only styles your hair but is concerned about hair health. She does all grades of hair and is fairly priced. She can do starter locs long locs and everything in-between. I asked for a style and asked exactly how to book the style (by meesha) so that's what I did.. At the end of my appointment I looked at my hair and there was waaaay more length than we had discussed. I only wanted mid back. Ontop of that, the style had way too many curls making me look ridiculous and unproportionate. I'm 4'11 so the style didn't look cute on me. I asked for it to be cut shorter but Meesha said no & that it would "ruin the style" so I walked out and went to a different braider same day who cut the hair, redid any braids that came apart and removed all those crazy curls that didn't need to be added . I ended up paying both Meesha and a different stylist so I overpaid and I think it should've been fixed originally when I said something, even if it would've taken more time and effort. I'm not rude, I would've happily paid Meesha extra for her time . Oh well. Also no dipping at the end? Thought that was strange. I posted pics what I wanted (styled by Meesha) vs what I got. When I told Meesha I was unhappy about the style, she blamed me for how I booked it, even though I booked it exactly how she told me to. Unprofessional yall. Also kept talking about fucking her coworker which was just gross read more

I had a great experience here getting my starter locs their first maintenance visit with Dotti the Loctitian she is wonderful. Takes her time, but is efficient, and does quality work. She is very knowledgeable about her craft and gives good advice for maintenance to this newbie in the dreadlocks life, which was much appreciated. She's also a great conversationalist if you don't want to just veg out in front of the TV during your visit, but she has that option available too for those who want to catch up on their favorite show while getting their hair did. I love the whole process from wash, conditioning, hot oil treatment, and the retwist process. Very professional and can't wait for my next visit! I didn't take pics at the shop but here's me rocking my locs and loving them in this baby loc phase! read more

No greeting when we walked in. There were 7 barbers and no communication. When one was free "I" had to ask if he was available, he tells me he's waiting on an appointment to arrive. Another barber finished a head then walks away. I came to get my two sons hair cut and mine but with this kind of service, I'll go we're my money is wanted. Side Note: That appointment he was waiting on never came and he still didn't offer to do one of our heads 20mins later! Poor costumer etiquette. read more

Way to expensive, hints the name, and the service does not match the price tag!! There's only one or two barbers that can actually cut hair but , it's always challenging to get an appointment. Also , they raised their prices almost 40% during Covid and the service got worse! All they do is talk crap, and pause to answer text messages, not focusing on the actual haircut!! I've had plenty of bad haircuts to prove it!maybe that should spend more time on the client and as a side note, try cleaning the shop, it's got layers of dust and dirt everywhere. What a rip off and garbage service and a disappointing experience, EVERY TIME!!!!!! Never again! read more

Been looking for a barber close to me for a while and Anthony did a damn good job best cut I've ever had and I've found my new barbershop! It's worth the 30 minute drive which is way better than getting a decent haircut every few months in San Diego 2 hours away. Will be back on the regular!! read more

Decided to give the shop another chance after Danny reached out to me because of my previous experience ( hints why I am updating this review) he offered to make up for the experience by giving me a complimentary hair cut however because of how amazing of a job he did I had to pay the man for the blessing. Thanks again Danny. read more

My husband just called to make an appointment and the guy who answered the phone seemed really irritated to get a phone call. When asked if open tomorrow, which is a Sunday, which says on yelp they are open, he said no, we have nothing available and then my husband said no I'm asking if you're open, and he said oh no no no we're not open. So my husband was like are you open or just don't have anything available and he just said no, so my husband hung up. Horrible customer service and I'm still confused. Lame. read more

First time there was last Monday June 30th. Words can not explain the amount of praise and respect I have for Danny. He is definitely a man who understands his craft and makes it into an art. The wait time was normal, they do accept appointments and walkins, so I imagine if you have an appointment you won't wait nearly as long as I did. I waited about 30mins, but time flew by. They have music, conversation, and plenty of magazines. Danny definitely took his time and made light but humerus conversation. The prices are easy enough: The line up - $5 basic clean line up The Cesar - $15 basic cut all one length no tapper/fade (includes the line up) The Trim - $15 nothing off the top just taper and fade the sides and back (includes the line up) Relaxer - $45 - jerry Premium cuts - $25 - designs and fohawk etc... Now, the prices may very depending on the barber, each barber has their own schedule and their own booking service through genbook.com. Each indicated price above has 15-20% increase depending on what you want done and who's gonna do it. Danny was cool enough to honor the listed price inside the shop. So why the four stars, for one they don't accept debit or credit cards. Two, I felt bad that the prices aren't consistent. I made my next appointment so I don't have to wait, but then realized I may have either underpaid or under tipped. I'm sure they just haven't gone through hassle of updating their poster out front, but you wanna' feel like you're taking care of your barber, because they are takin' care of you. I'm definitely to goin' back, and I will definitely be a regular. read more

Today I had an early morning appointment with "L" for the first time. My last barber was a very long time friend and it took us years to find the right cut for me, and when we had a falling out, a big worry was that I'd never be able to find that cut again. But L understood exactly what I needed and then some. He took his time and paid attention to details, and it was on point by the end of the session. I'll for sure be back, looking forward to it! read more

Came in here after going through trial and error with a couple barbers. You can tell all the barbers here have been mastering their craft and it shows in their cuts. If you want that quality cut that inspires you to go out and let the world see how fresh you could get then you need to come let Anthony give you that cut! Don't sleep one of the greats. read more

Can't say enough about Expensive Habits Barbershop. Five Stars. Atmosphere is extremely welcoming, clean and the establishment stays renovated and upgraded. All barbers greet clients when they walk in, making them feel like one of guys. The latest music is always playing and if not there's a game, movie or tv show playing, at all times great conversations and debates occur, regarding fashion, social media trending topics, celebrities, and politics. There's also a PlayStation setup at the first tv for waiting clients to get their game on. Danny's cuts are highly skilled and intuitive. He's good at letting your know the best way to cut based on the grade of hair and style of cut. In four years he's never pushed my hairline back once. Danny aka Mr Turn Down No Fades has cut me in every style there is, low Caesar, 360 waves and taper/fade, Mohawk, faux hawk, Sponge brushed curls, Swaggy P burst fade/hawk, high top fade. You name it and he can cut it. Making a reservation online for a cut is simple, and the barbers make sure to identify to walk-ins where they're at in the queue. Oh yeah and a free beverage is included with the cut. Can't ask for more than that! I highly recommend scheduling Danny for a cut. You won't regret it! read more

Really great barbers and atmosphere! I always feel comfortable going. And I always love my haircut. I completely trust Danny to do an amazing job, even when I don't know what I want! Expensive habits was recommended to me by a friend after I cut my hair into a tapered style, and I haven't needed to try any other place! I've gotten really great styles to dress up for weddings and church, and everyday styles. Hit them up! read more

Excellent place to get a haircut kids love it they come out looking like professionals prices are reasonable my Barbara Walter good dude

Got my cut with L and walked out looking fresh! Would definitely recommend for anyone in the area. And hella cool vibes too.

I needed a haircut and I went on yelp and found this barber shop. Barber was nice and friendly. Barbershop was clean. I will return.

Waited here for about 30 min without anyone saying a word to me then had another black gentleman walk in sit down for 5 minutes and then get sat down before me. I'm not saying this place seems a little bias to race but I'm a white male and every barber there besides one was a black male. The entire time I was stared at and the entire time I was ignored Ended up having enough of it and fucking left. Never come here if your light colored in skin. I hate to say that but it's fucking true read more

Yung barber Marco Bardales does it again! He keeps it fresh and professional. The spot is poppin with lots of conversation and good vibes. This place used to be great before the pandemic. I understand they have to make their money but $30 for a kids haircut is steep. They used to have walk in $15 haircuts on Tuesday's that they no longer honor I'm assuming because of Covid. They cut your hair good I suppose but prices are hella high read more

I've been going to Expensive Habits for years now... as long as they are open I'll never go to another barber. I have finally found a home here! I love the environment and vibe and everybody has always made me feel welcomed from the start. My barber is Danny Thomas who is also the owner of the shop. He always has me looking fresh and also suggest new styles and ideas if I ever want to change up my look. I'm always getting compliments and sending everybody there. Horrible service! I called on the phone 30 mins before getting there to make sure I can get a cut today, I was told over the phone to come in at 5 by someone named Danny, I arrived at 4:45 and waited until 5:40 to get told to go home because I didn't have an appointment, after explaining that I had prior arrangements with Danny over the phone, I was told that Danny wasn't in the shop today and that i had basically wasted my time, if that was made clear the moment I got there I could've easily went elsewhere but since I waited there for nothing, all the other surrounding shops were also closing, leaving me without a haircut on an important day due in-part to the horrible service that they provided. read more
