We saw many dolphins, humpback whales and so many turtles on our tour. We were also able to swim in a beautiful very clear area of the ocean 1/2 mile to 1 mile off shore as well as going snorkeling in an area right off the beach. Seeing puffer fish and other amazing fish. The owner is a very bright hearted person who speaks English so you will be very satisfied with the communication and he is an honest businessman. This is a small fishing community so you will not find huge commercial tour companies, this is an excellent option for anyone looking for whale watching, dolphins and turtles. We even got to swim with the turtles and saw a little baby turtle up close in its natural habitat. Really excellent excursion!

Little did I know how great this small adventure into the world of coffee would be. Do not hesitate. We started off with some fresh coffee empanadas and bananas from nearby trees. We soon went on a tour of the coffee plants and then the coffee operation. The view alone is stunning. The people are more then awesome. After the tour we were surprised by a great home cooked meal. This finca is 4th generation and the pride in what they do is heavy in every aspect. We purchased some fresh roasted whole beans to take home. Everytime I brew it I literally smile.

They told us we had 9 minutes to make the boat, which we could not. This was through Viator, who needs to choose their vendors more carefully. Now they are trying to tell me they will not refund me and insisting the driver was there, yet the hotel logs show he was not. Do a little more homework and find a better company. There are dozens of them offering better prices than this dishonest company.

They took us to a lagoon that was very far away (almost an hour). I thought they would have taken us to Lagoon Manialtepec which is the popular one and I am guessing there are more planktons in that one. We couldn't really see the plankton in the lagoon we went to No one seemed impressed by the tour. It was kinda sad. Also, the tour guide gave us almost no information on it! It was more transportation. Overall, waste of money! Our hotel recommended lalo ecotours so check them out instead! Ok update: he has offered a 50% refund and apologized for what happened but we came to the conclusion that our tour did not go as deep in the lagoon as he is supposed to to be able to see the plankton. Which is what I had assumed since I saw many tour boats going further. Roberto was helpful and solved our problem but next time I'll make sure we go with him in the tour

He is able to give the tour equally in Spanish and English, providing facts and local tips to everyone on board. Besides seeing multiple humpback whales and dozens and dozens of dolphins, Roberto was friendly and affable while showing us the best spots for swimming, snorkeling and beaching. This tour is a must do to a see (and swim!) with the local wildlife. Nothing beats an early morning ocean boat ride with a small group and local expert.

I believe we spent a little over 2 hours total with our private tour. There are many structures including a main temple and a ball court. There is also a path through preserved forested area up the hillside looking over where the river meets the ocean. Definitely worth the hike up there, especially since gusts of wind greet you. I suggest going early in the morning to beat the heat and rush. We did a tour with Mario who was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The site is run by INAH. It was $6 (US) per person to get in and a tour guide was extra. Non-Spanish speakers: the museum only has wording in Spanish. The signs on the campus have both English and Spanish but I still suggest a guide for more information.

Come to Copalita for the nice walking trails, not for the opportunity to see ancient ruins up…read moreclose. I've been to several of these parks in Mexico, and this is the first time the ruins have been roped off and only visible from a distance. Some of them were active dig sites, so it was understandable that visitors couldn't walk up to them, but others made no sense. There was good information at each site, and stone had been laid on the trails, making them easily walkable. Also: we saw a troop of coati mundis! It was a serious highlight. They are so cute!
