I am updating this review to address the statements made in the reply below from Jana of Expedia Cruises of West Vancouver.
The statements made by this individual are false, defamatory and slanderous. The has never been any "undue treatment" of Carol D. "over the years". In fact, it is the opposite that is true. Further their accusations of me "continuing to reach out to Carol" in an "obsessive and disruptive" way are also false and a complete fabrication. To clarify, I gave Carol and the Franchise owner at the time, Scarlett H., an opportunity to respond to my concerns in emails I addressed to them in April 2023. After not receiving a response to my concerns from either of them, I sent Carol a message on September 29, 2023 expressing my extreme disappointment and stating that I no longer wish to communicate with her in any way shape or form. There was never any attempt to contact with Carol from April 2023 to September 29, 2023 or anytime after September 29,2023. These statements are not based on fact and are yet another example of the unprofessional and unethical behaviour exhibited by Carol D. and Expedia Cruises of West Vancouver. I am requesting that she remove her comments immediately.
I booked several cruises with Carol D., and in the beginning, she was great. However, it is when things don't go as planned that you really need an excellent travel agent. This is where Carol's customer service skills leave so much to be desired. When my mother was dying and in hospice care, I contacted Carol to cancel a cruise. I was beyond final payment, so it would be an insurance claim, but I was well covered and had a doctor's note advising against travel. After a few back-and-forth discussions with Carol, she tried to convince me that it would be best if I was a no-show with the cruise line. She assured me that she would write on my insurance form that I cancelled due to family illness. I said that I wasn't comfortable as it was not true. She said the insurance company would just go with what she indicated on the form. As far as I was concerned, this was extremely unethical and basically amounts to fraud. All it would take is for my insurance company to make one phone call to the cruise line and my claim would be denied. I had a very valid reason for cancelling the cruise, so I insisted that she cancel my booking with the cruise line. I could make an educated guess as to why she wanted me to be a no-show, but that really is not the issue. To make things worse, she became argumentative and extremely insensitive to my situation. All I wanted her to do was cancel my cruise so I could spend my time peacefully with Dad, daughter, and my dying mother. Instead, I was distraught and stressed over this situation. I had enough on my plate already, and I sure didn't need this. After this unprofessional display, I probably should've severed my relationship with her right then and there, but I decided to give her another chance. However, the unprofessionalism didn't end. She would discuss her loyal clients with other clients, often making derogatory remarks about them behind their backs. She even admitted doing this to me. The final straw was when she included me in a confidential email between herself and another client without that client's consent. She then handed both bookings over to her franchise partner without explanation. After addressing my concerns with the franchise owner and not receiving a reply, I sent Carol a message expressing my extreme dissatisfaction and stated I no longer wish to communicate with her in any way. I have now found an excellent travel agent that is honest, hard-working, has outstanding customer service skills and truly appreciates my business. read more
